  • I troubleshoot a Jandy Stealth pump that won't prime and find out that the problem was not what I thought it was at first.

Thank you! The o ring was not installed properly. It primed right up as soon as I fixed it. You saved me time and money and I’m so very grateful.

Great video. You might be able to help me, 6 months ago I replaced motor and Carbon seal. It worked great until started cavitation a week ago. Yesterday, I replaced impeller and diffuser. Pump is priming well, no cavitation; however it has a knocking annoying noise. I noticed the diffuser pulls out 1/4 inch, as in your video. I push it back in and is very quiet for a minute or so. The two little diffuser screws don’t catch in the back plate, and they never have been installed since new; 12 years ago. I ordered a new debris basket, but at this point not sure if that will resolve the displacement of the diffuser and the knocking noise. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Not sure what the knocking noise is, maybe impeller hitting diffuser when it pushes forward. The back mounting plate has little brass inserts where the small diffuser screws go through diffuser and hold the diffuser into back mounting plate. The screws are what keep the diffuser in place and keep the diffuser from pushing forward into the pump basket and pump pot area. If your mounting plate dies not have the inserts any more or have old screws broken off in them. You can order another back mounting plate and install the diffuser properly and this should solve your diffuser pushing forward.
