@@ok2760 Saw them last night at a homecoming gig in Manchester. Best gig I've ever been to. They even played Vanishing Point. It was like a religious experience.
I can imagine.Vanish Point is one of that NO masterpieces and it even more better when they play it without intwrruption after BLT ...I go mad when they do it.
This is a superior set then the one I saw in Philadelphia for Technique. The Sugarcubes w/ Bjorn and PIL opened and PIL certai ly outperformed them that night. They sound tighter. Plus, Hooky singing so.e is way Fabulous 👌.
@@cjhards Vanishing Point is one of the top three NO songs for me - BTW why did they stop playing Leave Me Alone live? Was it too melancholy or something?
Look at that fucking setlist. Just banger after banger. Not a bad song on there (maybe because at this point in time, New Order had barely written any bad songs). Also, I firmly maintain that "Technique" is the best NO album.
Probably the most luxurious New Order live recording available - the setlist and the performance quality could not get much better. For some time, I found it too perfect (where are the gaffes, the temper tantrums, the banter - this is not New Order!) and could not really listen to it, but now I just enjoy the great music.
I was at this show in Clarkston. It was very memorable and fun. Had waited since the mid 80s to see them too. Very worth the wait. I caught them years later at the Area 51 tour in 2001 in San Bernardino but it wasn't the same. peace.
I was at this show, and it was AMAZING!! Then on Halloween in 2019, got to see Peter Hook and the Light at Saint Andrew's in Detroit for the 30 year anniversary tour of Technique. God I miss concerts!
I wanna say Technique was probably the best album these guys had released in my opinion. Everything is fucking catchy as fuck. The tempos got me grooving, even in my own toilet 🔥🔥🔥
Reading Bernard’s book ‘Chapter and Verse’ and if says around this time Bernard developed a bad cough which was caused by his stomach acid being released through abrasions due to his partying lifestyle and spent most of Detroit in a hospital bed while the rest of the band were out having a good time
Yes Will A Heroin habit can play havoc on your health especially your stomach when pushing your body to its limits! Seems to of faired better than Ian though.
Sounds right we drove down for the original June date from sleepy Saginaw only to be turned away at the gate by a crudely placed sign that said the show was postponed. When we did finally make the show weeks later we were dancing on the grass hill with approximately 20,000 other people screaming all the words to technique “DON’T WASTE MY MONEY BABY!”
This was around the time i 1st saw the Order live. Also bought Technique on release. Saw them one more time a couple of years later and was very impressed again with their live performances.87’ Glastonbury & 89’. Bernard & co. were at there very best.
Lovely quality. This sounds like a monitor mix. Can't really hear the hi-hats but all of the rhythmic, sequenced synth and guitar parts come across loud and clear.
Strange..I can hear the HHs loud and clear. Although I just listened on a pair of ATH MX-30s which are supposed to be very flat but favor mids a bit. I'll try again on the car audio.
Awesome! They didn't play any Technique dates in London for some reason, never got to hear many of these songs live til the Manchester Festival dates in 2017, and that was without Hooky. This is one of the best NO bootlegs I've heard, sound is great!
Thanks for posting this great recording! I was at this show too. When the LP came out, I used to this Hooky was singing the "you got style..." and was thinking Bernard was lip sync'n that part during the concert! Ha! Also remember Bernard walk-dancing in circles a lot.
We arrived too late to see the openers I would have love to see SUGARCUBES SUGARCUBES played at the royal oak music theater a few years earlier than this night but I couldn’t get in I was only 17
I was thinking the same thing, but then again, I was on the lawn and probably a bit distracted by my friends. I just wanted to listen to the concert (being the bigger fan of the group I was with). This is a great find! Also, I remember driving to the concert and hearing on the radio (89X?) that the concert was canceled b/c Bernard was in the hospital.
Todd Marsee hi Todd I posted this in the post already but I was there too. We were so disappointed when we arrive to see that it was postponed. It was 90 miles back home to Saginaw. We’re you also at Depeche Mode there in 88?
