99% sure the reason the allies had ZERO equipment and barely had divisions is because the UK had 54 factories on fighters while only having like 10 on guns Paradox needs to fix the allied AI just mass producing aircraft because it's annoying especially when they just ram into no supply Africa
@@thekommunistkrusader3921 yeah I am playing an ottoman game rn, and I want the axis to be losing but not losing to the point I will have no war participation, and to my horror, 3 months into brab the border has only moved to around half of ostland and Romania has capitulated to the soviets. Oh and the Italians are even worse than irl, having lost all of Africa, Sardinia, and are getting invaded from Sicily in early 1942
That and the fact that the Allied AI don't build units in general. Axis and the Soviets do. I think the UK AI and USA AI don't think they need them because there's no border or something.
The AI is just too stupid. For a regular player, 10 factories on guns wouldn't be that bad as long as you weren't throwing away units in bad supply... but this is Paradox AI so they have no concept of supply and will flood millions of men into africa, indonesia, siberia if given a chance and lose everything to attrition. I recently played a game as Mexico where WW2 was a 15 year stalemate. The eastern front stopped between Moscow and the Urals because neither side had any supply left because they crammed 500 units along the line.
Considering how Petain got his neurodegenerative disease in the 1930s and died in the early 50s, it’s safe to say Petain himself was as surprised and confused about conquering the world. (EDIT: Petain would be fully senile by 1947 but as early as his trials in 1945 would doze off and fail to recall most important events and when imprisoned would repeat conversations 20 times a day.)
I'm pretty sure Germany would have to be at war with the UK at the same time though for Vichy event to activate. It doesn't go so well for the axis that early on
Italy: *struggles to do anything useful during the war* Also Italy: *gets its fleet out of the Mediterranean sea and succesfully invades & occupies Iceland*

In the 39 start date, the UK starts with a 30k infantry equipment deficit if I remember correctly, and with the war ongoing they probably wouldn't have been able to replenish it faster than they were losing to their troops fighting and dying all over the world
@@how_to_be_a_Old_legionary44 Because both France and Britain in the 39 start date start with essentially a slightly larger version of what they have in 36 start date, as in an army that now has twenty more divisions however the army still only has the same equipment percentage as in 36 start date (which is somewhere between 60 and 70%), and an airforce with only half of the wings equipped with actual planes. The only real difference is that the equipment they do have is usually better than what they have at the 36 start date
ISP, you should try out the Hungarian Flavour mod. It gives Hungary a great focus tree with a lot of potential. I haven't seen any HOI4 content creators try this.
It looks like the UK had a really bad time in Africa, which is probably where their divisions and equipment. I've been seeing Italy do really well down there recently
as vichy france you can join the allies by refusing to give indochina to japan. when japan declares war on you, you will get an invite to the allies from britain
Ya know ISP, you *could* have started playing Vichy France in 1936 by denying the Rhineland, going to war with Germany, and deliberately losing. That way, you go through your focus tree and gain your independence by 1938.
You can keep a colony that another country lays claim to without going to war, but it has to be a puppet rather than annexed before the other country starts its focus. So in the case of Vietnam, you would have to release it as a puppet with enough time to spare that you can bring its autonomy to the lowest level possible and give you the option of annexing it, and make sure you have enough PP stockpiled to do so about five or ten days before the focus granting claims on the territory finishes. I've seen Bittersteel do it a few times, but haven't personally done it myself.
Can you do the military dictatorship of Lithuania please? They can get a lot of military experience and lots of discounts on doctrines. Only thing is they suck at everything else
You can play as Vichy in 1936 by objecting to the remilitarization of the rhineland and getting into a war with Germany with Britains support. Objecting to rhineland will trigger a civil war though. It can we very easily and quickly won, though.

FYI, the Mers-El Kebir event is totally broken. It apparently happens regardless of the situation. It fired for me, even though I played Fascist France, and never surrendered obviously. I also had control of the Med, both Suez and Gibraltar were taken, and the Royal Navy consisted of about 45 ships by that point. The naval invasion that capitulated Britain happened about a week later. So they really had no possible way of doing this. "All" it did was delete my 2 battlecruisers (which were the ships that got away historically btw). Neither of which was in the Med in my game. They were part of the fleet responsible for most of the destruction of the RN actually. Pretty much the least likely options for success. So the event should be scripted to take them out. Plus it would have been less annoying.
