I believe that for most viewers its actually difficult to grasp how well thought out every shot in this film is.
Just look at this one 4:24 - Its actually a very simple shot, yet leaving the subject out of focus fits so well because its telling the story about a man, who has lost the focus on what is important in his life, through the camera.

This is very beautiful and well-made. Kudos. But.... I don't know if it's the CZcams algorithm, but i get recommended other videos by other creators that are equally good and pretty much all the same. Which immediately devalues all of it because there's an abundance of quality content, yet it all seems to be very similar. I have been recently watching a lot of movies from 1960 - 2005. Before computers and social media era took over, it really killed everything. Back then, it seems, so many new things were still invented, and new ideas presented, and now, when computers took over and literally everyone can do anything, the magic of "new"disappeared. So I don't know.. I believe, generally, something big has to happen in the world to change the landscape of what we have now, because what we have is abundance of "the same", and nothing new. Nothing new has been introduced for the past 20 years. As soon as we hit the year 2000 - everything stopped. Time flies, but at the same time everything stays the same. Creatively.
This is what this video made me feel :) And as i have said - beautiful video.

The technology we all have at our fingertips is pretty insane. Pretty much every new iPhone has "better" tech than what George Lucas used to film the Star Wars Prequels.
But I think I understand what you're getting at. There's a lot of pretty images and stories that feel the same, and trust me, I fall into that category a lot of the time. The hard part is actually looking at your own life and drawing from unique experiences, without allowing too many outside influences to dictate how you communicate that story.
There's so many talented people that are WAY more talented than me. But at the end of the day I think the quality of story will win. I'm not the first person to think of it like that either, but it's all about truly connecting with people.

What did you use for the anamorphic shots?
I used a 1.5x Aviascope with violet flares, as well as the Contax 35mm 1.4 for the taking lens
A bit loud the music, compare to the voice over

It's a great shortfilm. Life is indeed beautiful. But... I don't like the message. It seems like life is beautiful only if you have a significant other. It hurts, man. I feel so incomplete and inferior to others. I want to learn to love life even if I lose everything.
Hey that’s totally fair. And I’m really sorry you feel that way right now. You certainly do not have to have someone else in your life to be complete, in fact I’d argue the opposite.
And I apologize that this short film gave you the message that it did. I was intending for this to be more a metaphor of finding the beauty that’s around you now instead of chasing “what’s out there”. Of course, for me, that does take the form of enjoying my wife and spending time with her. But for someone else that will look completely different. I was not intending for this to be a literal translation of “married life is the only beautiful life”. So I do apologize for that!

Thank you Chris! I think I’ve just accepted that all cameras these days are really solid. This video was mainly shot on the 6k FF when I had it, but some of the other shots were done with the Ronin 4D 8k and even the Sony A7Cii. I try to remain fluid with cameras 😂

@@chrisjohnsonfilms it’s not the same, but the same as the A7IV. Higher rolling shutter, but a bit better DR. It’s a good compromise for the price. And yes to slog3!

Starting right here in this life, when you repent of your sins and believe in Jesus Christ. He is our Saviour. And the only one God. He is Gods Son which came in flesh to earth, to die for our sins and conquered death for us, paid it all what we needed to Pay, and everybody can take this heavenly gift for free. Jesus gave his life for you, so that you can be free and Save. Amen
The Shots were stunning though, but the message is to small. And not the meaning of life in its fullness. Without Jesus Christ, there is no meaning and no life, and no love. Amen
From a cinematorical viewpoint, your Video is very neat, nicely paced and your visuals are overall stunning. And i like the Storytelling very much.
Thank you for taking the time to write all of this out. Trust me, I believe in the message that you’re talking about. I also believe in the way that Jesus taught the Gentiles and other groups that didn’t understand Him: through parables. That’s what I’m attempting to do. I don’t believe that anyone will come to Christ through a video that I make on CZcams. But I do believe that change can happen through the conversation and community built through making videos like this.
I do understand. It might seem like I’m trying to skip the essential message. But that’s just not the way I think people are going to be reached on CZcams. I do fully believe in what you said above, but just because I didn’t reflect those exact words in this video, doesn’t mean that the message is too small.
