Girl, I'm a sympathetic puker too, and I was a NURSE! 😱 I can't tell you how many times I stood behind a patient, holding a basin and rubbing their back while desperately trying not to let them hear me gagging 🙊

If smells make you nauseous, try a mint or mint gum. If you’re able to get that into your mouth before you go into the smell, it helps soooo much ! I work in a jail and get exposed to all kinds of smells. The mint really helps!

The way you react to vomit has brought back a memory. I was a theatre nurse. One of my colleagues, who was pregnant, was helping the anaesthetist prepare a lady for c-section. The lady started vomiting. This triggered my colleague. She sent for someone to relieve her. When he arrived the sight and sound of the two women triggered him. Now we have three people feeling nauseated. They did all settle and managed to laugh about it once the baby was delivered. 🤦♀️
Before your trip home I noticed how you delivered that line "the trip's not over until it's over" in such a insightful been there/done that way. It seems you knew that of which you speak.

Mint or peppermint gum is good. I also ordered ginger candies from Amazon and they’re chewy and sweet. Ginger is good for upset tummies!

When I saw the title, I thought for sure it was going to include a trip through DFW. The recent weather here has made things quite chaotic. ⛈
Do you feel as a flight attendant who flies all the time that turbulence has gotten worse? I fly a few times a month for work, and over the past 2 years it has really felt like it has increased exponentially. I rarely have a smooth flight anymore.
Tbh yes I feel like turbulence has gotten worse over the years!

Hi Julia. I finally got around to watching this. That's definitely a chaotic trip you had. I hope the rest of your reserve month went OK. What a wonderful gift from the passenger. It's things like that which make everything worth while.
TIP: I rub a tiny amount of Vic’s Vaporub (sp) just on my nostrils, not up my nose!!!!! It sort of masks the smells to help with cleanup, be it either human or doggy puke.

It's always bumpy coming into phx when it's hot,, it's the mountain effect. Same as Las Vegas. Lived and flew from phx for 10 years. Saw lots of kids throw up when landing.

I recently came from a trip to Orlando. On the first leg, ewr to Mco. The FA called for Doctor on board on the PA. With no doctor they just gave oxygen and luckily we completed the flight. On a side note. I’m enjoying Dark Matter also, had to reread it because it’s been a few years ( luckily it’s short) . If you like the show, I recommend reading “Wool” and watching “Silo” the show is better than the book in some ways.
I used to have a piano instructor many years ago, and she had a little kid as a student who got sick during a lesson, and he threw up on all 88 keys. He had the "Ralph's Barf Blues" that day.
I love kind bars! I keep some at work. I put them in my bag for when I go to court. I try to put something healthy in my bag in case I need something to eat(I'm diabetic)
Most of the hotel rooms look really nice but I bet you have had your share of bad ones too! Sometimes things can only get better.and I bet those passengers were really glad you were there to help!

I won't lie. I always try to eat a full meal before a flight. If I'm in a hurry, I will grab a couple bag of Hot Cheetos from a convenient store to bring onto the plane and eat. I always need something in my stomach when I travel. Otherwise, I will suffer from bad jet lag if I don't.
Our family absolutely loves your content and videos. We secretly are hoping that you and Eric will start a family. Someday you would be such excellent parents in that light. Can you share how young flight attendants that have children cope with the rigors of the job?

Ah, Spring. My pilots would complain about winter flying, but come Spring, oof. It's the clash of the titans, the cold & warm air masses battling for domination, & the storms arising from. Pilots would *really* complain about Spring flying, with the turbulence & storms.

Food aversion is real. I can’t eat those instant chive potatoes, cause I had to use them to take medicine when I was super sick with Mono in HS. I smell it and am like no way!

Is your reserve block 24 hours 6 days in a row so you never know when to sleep or do you have a set time when you're on call during those days and once the period passed you can rest and it resets the next day?
Frailty happens at very different ages.
You state the length of your workday. Could you indicate the number of hours of the day for which you are paid? It might help your case with the traveling public.
What causes the turbulence and can something like this be avoided?

I’m 65, and will be flying by myself next week, visiting one of my children. I’m hoping I won’t be considered a sick passenger.
F you have alcohol swabs in your medical kits letting someone who is nauseated sniff the swab it helps nausea.....I'm an old RN, we used this technique alot

I can deal with anything but vomit. You've probably never experienced the opening of the plane door after it's been closed all night🤢. It smells like vomit and stale coffee. I used to take a deep breath, open it and run as fast as possible back up the jetway when I was working the gate.

I’m traveling soon and I have panic attacks.. are flight attendants trained if a passenger needs help during a flight if a passenger has a panic attack?
Sorry but theres really nothing anyone can do for a panic attack, other than hold your hand. It’s simply the release of “anxiety hormones”. Even an ER won’t do anything other than take your $$ by running unnecessary tests. The shortness of breath, chest pain, and crazy nerves that come along with a panic attack are just temporary and not considered life threatening.
We are trained to assist in all types of medical emergencies including panic attacks. We are not doctors but we are there for your safety, comfort and to help in any way we can. If you feel the need please do not hesitate to ask for assistance from your crew. I wish you a smooth travel experience 🙂
Luckily my airline doesn’t do the reserve rotation that yours does, if I have to go back on reserve I’m quitting 😂😂
