    Seriously. I can understand Abby being mad but the rest of Simon's friends suck. And one thing that Leah said "You set me up to get my heart broken when you thought I was in love with Nick and that just makes you cruel." Wtf. I literally cannot make any sense out of that line. Like, Simon didn't set you up with Nick as like cruel joke he genuinely thought you were in love with Nick. So, what? He's cruel for being oblivious? He's cruel for setting you up on a date with the guy he actually thought you were in love with?

    1:30 "It wasn't even that good, but I loved it" sums up about half of my massive movie collection. They're commonly referred to as guilty pleasures and don't let *anyone* put you off them. Like, ever. Loved your reaction. :)

      I also thought it was McSteamy at first, and I love Josh Duhamel. When he got a little older and greyer and beefier he morphed in a different style of hotness. And started looking like McSteamy. 😄

    I’m gonna be completely honest... I really didn’t like this movie when it came out because it felt like a token gay movie without being anything special, but I feel like if I went back and watched it now it would be a lil better

    • @ashpindi
      @ashpindi  Před 3 lety +2

      yeah exactly it’s like special because it didn’t stereotype gays which I liked and I think every parent should watch it but it definitely had some flaws!

    "I could deal with you being gay" as in - "I could live through the heartbreak, *I* could deal with the fact that you wouldn't want me, gay or not."
    Leah's reasons to be mad were valid. I could get over my heart ache and I could've supported you if you would've allow me in. Instead- you chose to send me with one of our closest friends, knowing he wouldn't want me, and not giving me the whole picture. Just like she said- setting her up to a heart break, as her best friend- that's cruel. Also, she is obviously hurt that a shis best friend, she wasn't his first choise for the person he would tell. As someone who went through something similar I can say I completely understand that specific hurt. May be it sounds childish from the outside, but when your closest friend hides something very importent and emotional for him from you, you can't help but feeling untrusted and unworthy. Add the heartbreak and the lying to that... Leah's reasons to be mad were probably the most valid, I think.
    Nick's angle is also very understandable. he's hurt he opened up to his friend and instead of being honest with him, he went ahead and tried to set him up with somebody he didn't even like. He saw it as a way his friend is trying to open his eyes to see what's been beneath his nose for years, a way for his friend to help him get over his own heartbreak, while what he really did do was decieving him and advising him to the opposite...
    Abby's reasons are that he treated her as some kind of prize and took his best interests over her choice and her good being, and that's very true. Her anger makes al lot of sence, like you said.
    All of that is being said without throwing any shade at Simon. He is pure and he was helpless. he could've gotten out of the situations he was in but he paniced and he made mistakes his friends payed for. as well as he did.
    I can't be mad at any side, because they all had a serious understandable and valid reasons to hurt and get mad.
    Now, I do think they all could've been more understanding and get out of teir own heads and support Simon more, definatley. I for sure think they should'nt have frozen in the Cafetiria when he was being bullied,
    BUT, Simon and them are all portrayed as teeanagers. They are mature- but they also aren't. They try to be their best- but they usually don't succeed. They would want to be able to stand for themselves and for the people they love at their time of need- but they freeze when it actually happens for the first time. They are teens, and they aren't perfect. They are learning.
    This movie is not about Simon's coming out alone, but about coming of age, maturing, learning to firgivr and learning to realize what you did wrong.
    and about family, and about friendship and about loyalty and about self honesty and so many more importent lessons haha, it really is a beautiful (!!!) movie and I love it.
    Also, I hate Martin too for all he'd done, but.... he is also a teenager. He had to to the actual bad thing in order to understand his lesson. I think his character is set up in a way that you can understand he is trying to be better.
