January 22, 2017. Okumura Roshi discusses various traditions of walking meditation in Buddhism and their significance for Sanshinji's first Walking Retreat.
I also used to leave class at school and walk. Unfortunately there was no Library but there was an interesting Cherry Tree. Sometimes for Art Class we would draw a cherry from that tree. I once went into other classroom that had been drawing a cherry and said my teacher had sent me to borrow their cherry for us to draw (she had not asked). I went away with it, and ate it.
Why should you concentrate in something in order to get your mind free of discursive thought? This is reenforcing the idea that there is a self who can control, which goes against the Buddha's teaching.

welcome to zen. sotoshu is not zen, it is just buddhism. sounds like you're already free.
He is saying the opposite, no need to do anything to be enlightened, you already are enlightened, free.
