Her main weapon scales very well with increased size, due to the full moons being directly and indirectly affected, resulting in them essentially being double buffed. The full moons are directly buffed by having its own size increased. The full moons are indirectly buffed by the crescent moons' size being increased, since the crescent moons can hit more targets and therefore activate more full moons. The full moons count as ranged attacks, despite the crescent moons being melee attacks. The full moons are unaffected by the Growth upgrade, but they do get the extra damage from Anvil boosts.
Moona's special gives +100% ATK and +100% SPD until the special ends and then keeps +50% ATK for 12 more seconds after. The initial explosion of her special counts as a ranged attack. During her special, the full moons spawn right behind the large crescent moons, which is right where Moona herself is. The "2 times damage" buff to the main weapon from her special does not multiply the extra damage from Anvil boosts and the Growth upgrade.
Pekora and Moona are the reason I fell into the vtuber rabbithole in the first place back in September 2020. One of the first vtuber clips I ever saw was Pekora's and Moona's first interaction in Minecraft and I knew I needed to see more after watching it.

I started grinding Moona leaderboards like a month ago and now have stage 1 hard and stage 2 rank 1. Shes one of the most balanced idols i have played so far for endless but has a unique tool kit that gives you multiple options on you play her though in the end game you tend to go the brawler route because of Moona & Hoshinova and her special have a lot of value with Lunar construction and you kind of need damage though learning her special can be tricky because she has a small stun lock with pacifism stamp because the slash hitbox lingers so you can hit stuff twice but its dependent on haste somewhat from my testing.
Currently grinding Kobo fandoms right now because her tool kit is really busted in the right hands and i want to fix her leaderboard situation by taking a few rank 1s.

Very nice! Performance-wise I could see her being a balanced pick yeah, the kit itself really isn't as there's next to no defensive options. You bring up a good point with the need to brawl in longer rounds, that could be interpreted as the balancing act too as clearly she's a character you'd ideally play at range with, so being forced to brawl late-game is the compromise.
