    With this vehicle being ever so popular and a good choice for those wanting or needing a 3 quarter ton bakkie whether, for leisure or work, it is uncanny how similar the engine is to a Renault Sandero 1.6. Here I show how to do a basic service, oils plugs & filters change, enjoy, subscribe until next time

    Not suprising as the same engine package is used in the Sandero, making the assembly plant keep a common engine for both models is a lot cheaper, especially as then they can change production volumes easily on the lines. Nice vehicles though I prefer the old Nissan 1400, which is a very reliable vehicle, and very easy to maintain as well.

      Hey Sean I can not agree with you more but with one exception, those Nissan 1400 bakkies were mechanical marvels but on a quiet night in summer you could hear them rust, Hahaha.........

    • @SeanBZA
      @SeanBZA Před 3 lety +1

      @@vehiclemaintenanceandrepai3790 The one at where I used to work was called "Rust In Motion" for a reason... But I was able to panel beat it back into shape after an accident using very few tools, just a hammer, spanners and pulling the panels back into position. But the engine itself was never a problem, even though the radiator at one point was just cores and no fins, it just kept on going. Service was literally a hour, more the walk to the spares shop to get the parts while the oil was draining out of the sump. Yes it was rusting, but what do you expect from a vehicle assembled on the Highveldt, and with no other corrosion protection other than the primer and first coat of paint, plus with all those cavities that pooled water.
      Tectyl helped a lot, but still they rust. the good looking one you see these days are just an example of how well can you hide the body putty, though yes you can buy the entire vehicle as panels quite cheaply, which i have done for another, where we replaced the rear panels, as they were more hole than panel.

    • @vehiclemaintenanceandrepai3790
      @vehiclemaintenanceandrepai3790  Před 3 lety +2

      The best way Dirk, is to remove the No.1 spark plug and put a long screwdriver in the plughole while you turn the crank by hand with a spanner or socket, this way you will see when the screwdriver hits the topmost point, just before it goes down again, this will be TDC.

      @@drevil2783 the tricky thing about buying a second hand car is that you never really know what has been serviced and what hasn't been, but preventative maintenance is very essential in that situation. When i buy a second hand car i do a major service including all fluids , belts, etc and take it to an expert like Gary for a thorough check up. It's this proactive approach that has ensured that I'm never stuck on the side of the road and i travel quite a bit. The Nissan NP200 is actually a very good bakkie, it's very reliable and fuel efficient as long as you take care of it.
