- Waking up in Melk, we quickly find our way into the Wachau Valley, through the vineyards and orchards and villages along the Danube Cycle Path. Cycle touring through this part of Austria is a true paradise, with the Danube always close by and charming villages every few kilometers. We pass through Durnstein and Krems, beautiful and historic towns in the Valley. From there, we continue on the Eurovelo 6 into Vienna, where we check out the cities beautiful cityscapes and monuments, including the outstanding Gallery Belvedere. Here we have to decide where we go from here. More episodes to follow!
Well done on the cycling and a great video. Looks like a trip we would like to take. Vienna is a great city for cycling
Thank you! Yeah, Vienna is just an amazing place in so many ways. Beautiful architecture and art, sure, but also just a very nice feel, great street life. I hope you do it someday!
Excellent series, looking forward to more travels 😊😊
Thanks! glad you're enjoying it!
Loving this Europe series! And the choice of music, particularly The Blue Danube, a great match!
Thank you! On all counts!
Some of those places are off the scale beautiful. BTW, I can never imagine either of you not being civilized either on or off the bike :) Take care. JP
This is such an incredible area, just magical. I"m in love with this continent. Could spend the rest of my life exploring it. Cheers!
@@TheBicycleTourists It looks incredible.
So Gorgeous riding! I want to cycle Danube route after ending COVID-19. Have fun! I’ve been EuroVelo15, 2017 starting from Prague.
It's amazing riding. Would love to do EV15 someday. Thanks for watching!
From where to where did you bike? How long was the route? Did you stop by any wineries for tasting along the way?
Apparently the well trodden path seems to be train from Vienna to Melk, ferry to Spitz, bike to Krems (via durnstein) then train back to vienna. Do you reckon this is double for a day trip in October? (Sunset at 6pm)
This was a leg from our trip down the Danube a couple of years back. We were riding from Zurich, up to the source of the Danube, and then west to Vienna. So we didn't look into any of the local transportation options. I believe once we reached Krems there was still a half a day of riding to get into Vienna, if that info helps at all.
