  • Does Automobilista 2 Have the Best VR in a Racing Game? Automobilista 2 is highly praised for it excellent VR gameplay and optimizations. In this video we will be playing it on the Quest 2 to see if it is as good or better then what I think are some of the best VR racing games like iRacing and Assetto Corsa. Automobilista offers plenty of different cars and tracks to race and is a game that is actively updated and supported. But how good is the VR? I will let you know what I think but I would also like to hear what you have to say about so definitely leave me a comment and let me know.

For a man introducing himself as a casual anything, I don't think I've been shouted at so intensely in a youtube intro before.

AMS2 is a blessing for those who just want to plug in a wheel and not have to mess with settings much. Most other sim games are a nightmare to get FFB in everything perfect but AMS2 just works, at least with the thrustmaster and G920. The same goes for VR in AMS2. I get why VR+Sim racing hasn't caught on. It's too complicated for the average person.

You should try the historic Monza track with the banked walls since you like that type of track. It's basically part road with huge banking part way through. Please try the classic f1 vehicles such as the lotus 51.

I would try the BMW 2002, apparently they spent quite some time on that specific vehicle. Start in the front or middle so you could really test out the lag. Racing during sunset is where automobilista 2 really shines.

By watching you drive your biggest problem is how you start and how you judge power through a curve. You can't punch it on a hair pin turn. The cars are too lite/ produce too much power. You need to practice, alot. Don't just gun it through the track, that will never work. There's an art to it.
That said, subscribed as I'm looking forward to watching you progress.
I'd say try acceleration coming out of turns as the first improvement. Don't wait until you're out of the turn, start it half way through. Note: not on hairpins
    Good luck!

Thanks, appreciate the comment! Yeah, just kind of starting out on Road and not knowing the tracks didn't make things better, LOL. With ovals you can just kind of hop in and survive. Not so much with road. 🤣

Finally pulled the trigger and picked up AMS2 on Steam sale. It's the best PC VR simracing experience because it just works out of the box. It's the closest thing to the plug n play you get with PSVR2 and GT7. And the AI single player is actually fun. This is something because I'm more of an online multiplayer. High fun factor especially when you want to race vs always tweaking to get visuals that passes for good if you like games in 16-bit SNES graphics (ACC)

For me Assetto Corsa with CSP VR mods is the best VR. I have an RTX 2070S and an i7 with an old Samsung Odyssey and by using the various tweaks in CSP and settings in Steam I get near perfect graphics and a solid 90fps in VR racing against 14 opponents. I almost could not believe my eyes when I finally got it all perfect. Ilja Jusupov aka x4fab is a genius.

You've been VR racing in iRacing for years but you've never raced Mt. Panorama? It's a world class Australian race track known far and wide. And fun fact: it's a public road like the Nürburgring.

  • @Fromatic

Losing the backend is realistic but understand you wouldnt have experienced it if you have come from ovals, a lot of these race cars do not have traction control so the wheels will simply turn with your throttle, and having so much power and so little weight if you accelerate too hard in the lower gears the wheels will just turn faster than the tyres can handle, same is true of many real life sports cars, if you turn off traction control and floor it out a corner you will fast become a passenger as you leave the road backwards. Feed in the throttle smoothly applying more as you straighten out the wheel and move up through the gears. Also subscribing as I want to see VR reviews of racing games but also see how you improve!

First time playing the game. F1 car around Bathurst. Madman. 🤣 Perhaps not the best choices either in terms of the cars picked either. The f1 2019 cars are generally considered some of the poorer in the game (formula reiza are a lot more fun open wheelers) and the Mclaren is a tail-happy pain in the arse in my opinion. You'd probably have more fun in something like the Porsche GTE (one of my personal favorites in the game) at your current level.

For me OpenXR doesnt bring any performance-boost or graphical visual boost, I testet >60 hours every single option back and forward. But I use OpenXR only because of the possibility to improove the very weak contrasty look to something very contrastful realistic look. For ACC switching to OpenXR brought a massive boost in visuals and performance. Overall ACC with OpenXR looks way more nicer/realistic and even sharper than AMS2 with same performance (stable 90hz) on my hp reverb g2 with RTX 3090. So I dont understand why some people say that AMS2 is nicer in VR than ACC, after tweaking and modding it is not correct. Also the sound experience of ACC is so much better than in AMS2. But ACC hass way less cars and tracks, that is the downside..

    • @thecasualracinggamer
      @thecasualracinggamer  Před rokem +3

Guess I'll need to try OpenXR. It's not that ACC can't look good. I found that making ACC look good led to an unplayable game with terrible performance.

I've cranked ACC to ultra on rtx 4090 i9 with openXR on Quest3 and it can't touch AC or AMS2. ACC is too hard to look at anymore
