- This is a compilation I have created with some of the best musical scores from one of the most talented composers for TV and cinema, the Argentinean Lalo Schifrin. I do not own the copyright of these recordings and I have gathered them with the only purpose of paying tribute to this great musician, who has been nominated for the Academy Award 6 times, and has won a Grammy Award. Recently his music has been used by Quentin Tarantino in the film "Inglorious Basterds", and many artists have sampled his records like the british band Portishead, not to mention the multiple renditions of his famous Mission Impossible theme by Danny Elfman, Michael Giacchino and Adam Clayton & Larry Mullen from U2.

What a fantastic composer Schifrin is. What a huge catalog of film and television music he has to his credit. So many genres and a delightful variety of extraordinary scores.

Great video. Thanks :)
Cool Vid !! I saw Lalo at the barbican a few years ago. (I even made a Music Vid tribute to him) We talked to one of the 5 upright session Bass-players in the intermission who was loving working with him.
I am a huge fan. I think he came to my attention due to his work on the Dirty Harry movies. But then I learned of all the other great work. It's jazzy, but jazz I can really like [ I have to admit, some jazz just sounds random to me ]
Very talented composer....
magnum force = pinnacle.. Don't get much better. Love Lalo

For some reason I totally forgot that he also scored "The Exorcist" ??
He didn't. He'd been commissioned to write the score, but William Friedkin reportedly hated it so much (claiming focus groups found it too frightening) that he literally threw the sheet music out the window. Schifrin later said that working with him had been "one of the most unpleasant experiences" of his life. Parts of the score were later retooled for "The Amityville Horror".
