LOL! That outtake.
Very nice tutorial. Some people don't realize what goes into our customs sometimes. I can work a whole week on one sometimes
Thank you for all the good advice
One of the best, well explained video’s on youtube. Clear, concise and informative. Not too much fluff, in fact very little fluff.
Subbing 💯
great video, have collected m2's for a while, and though i have dabbled in some customization with wheel swaps and body part swaps, but i love the whole custom painting and modding of the cars here on yt, loved the polished mirror finish on the van, and i cant wait for the video when it is done!
been looking for a way to do this, thank you so much for the video!!
THANK YOU for this! VERY helpful and I’m actually painting a car for the first time today! Found a cheap ol’ Torino Stocker!
I always watch your vids, grettings from México! 👋
A great beginner How-to video...great info!
Thanks very much for the tutorial! This really helped great video. Just subscribed 🤙🏽
Again thanx for the tips I will try the extra sanding paper from Amazon specially the cleaning process at the end keep the tips coming
Nice job brother!
nice job men thanks 4 the tip also grettings from mexico
Huge help thank you.
Man am I glad I stayed until the end for that blooper line...🤣
Great video kool info thanks for sharing 👍✌
Great tips
Nice video 👍🏻🙋🏻♂️
That last bit cracked me up lol
Nice your going through the step by step process in a series of videos, really great idea. Really shows how long each car takes to get that perfect finish, great stuff. Looking at your patreon rewards it looks to me like the $3 is the only give away tier? 🤔
Thank you! Actually I'm changing it to all tiers since giveaways are technically against Patreon rules.
Four hours?! Thanks for your honesty...
Cool 👏😉
awesome video big thumbs up!!.....✨🔥 🎆 🎆
Hi,
DO YOU DO COSTOM WATERSIDE ?
LIKE BLACK SOLID NUMBERS
AND CLEAR BACKINGS AND NO BLACK ROUND CIRCLES
FOR A 55 GASSER FOR DOORS AND TRUNK AND TOP OF THE GASSER ?
PLEASE LET ME KNOW
Nice finish so far on the metal. I hope the naysayers and picky comments don't get you down, you do good work!
Oh not at all. If they did, I would stop posting :)
I turn pens as well and the micromesh is wonderful. I magic marker the numbers 1-9 in the order they're supposed to be used. Also with hand sanding I use a spray bottle to wet the material.
Magic marker is a great idea! My issue is that I'm a little color blind with blues/greens so I'm not even sure what they are when new unless I can really feel the grit. Again, great idea so I'll be marking them now!
@@WheelsNThangs I have a set of pads that polished the CA finish on around 200 pens and the numbers are still as clear as when they were written. I had to do that because I ALWAYS lose the chart.
So just regular magic marker? Any particular color that shows best?
Yeah, man. I prefer a black Sharpie myself. I'm pretty sure any color will work just fine.
I got some new ones and marked them all. You have no idea how happy I am over this simple tip. I always tried to keep them stacked in order and it was a pain. It's the little things..
Also, is that a Dodge A100 van? I need one of those in a displayable form. A 69 Dodge A110 was my first car.
I Use Mothers Myself . Had Mine A Long Time. If it Dries out add A Little Water. Add A little at A Time and it Will come Back. I Use A Dremel Too. or By Hand with A Cloth .
Thanks for this tutorial. I love it. Btw, if you're keeping track, I much prefer the sound of the boom mic. The voiceover mic sounded like it was placed a little to close to you, but that's just my opinion. Great work.
Thank you! Yeah, I think I need a new VO mic. This one isn't that old but it sounds super low but close no matter what I do if that makes any sense.
Great, great tips! I especially liked use gloves after buffing. I do have a question though. I f you have part of the project that don't have pits or scratches would you recommend skipping sanding steps? And if you have issued near body lines can you get the same results not using higher grit paper without sanding the lines?
If there is no pitting you really don't need to sand. Near the body line you just have to be careful :)
do you need primer for spectra flame paint?
Do you wash again after mineral spirits wash? Or go to painting after mineral spirits?
I know this is an old video, so i really hope youll see this comment and reply.
I used 6000 grit sandpaper to finish my wetsanding. But it never looks like yours with the mirror finish. Could i be doing something wrong?
Polishing before paint doesn’t cause issues with adhesion?
Great details, don't mess up the ____ job
I’m about to start restoring some vintage redlines. Whats your view on zinc plating? Deep corrosion? And things like that
I've tried the zinc plating and it great for corrosion but does nothing for pitting.
Now that's what I call a 'mirror finish'
Hey I watch your videos everyday when I get bored but I have a question could you redo a car and make it look like a car from Fallout 4 thanks and have a good day
I look for a 65 Ford Mustang Window. Or how to make one. Can somebody help me?
Dennis check Hot wheels or Matchbox parts on ebay or Amazon. you will find it. 👍🏻
toRturedSoul thankss😁
that's experience talking right there :)
I just started customizing a few weeks ago, I am NOT a perfectionist at all, but to prep my cars for either a shiny finish and clearcoat or to paint it, I do the following: 1. Sand with 600 grit. 2. Sand with 2000 grit. 3. Dremel polish. The result is a somewhat decent mirror finish, but it still has a lot of pits, etc. but that's what gives these things character. I don't need it to be 100% flat and smooth, just shiny. Just wanted to add this for anyone starting out so they don't think they need 20 different grades of sandpaper or need to sand their car for a month before painting. I spend an hour or two max prepping a car.
I just barely started also. Question after you polish the car do you paint right afterwards or do you clean the car with mineral spirits after polishing then paint? Also do you spray clear after a spectra flame paint job on a redline restore? Ty!
@@Detoxingforlife I never did any special cleaning at all, just wiped off with microfiber rag, but my polish does not leave any residue...if yours leaves any kind of oily film, then yes, you should clean it off. I dont do spectraflame restores, but from what i have seen, all customizers use clearcoat on everything. Just make sure its compatible with your paint and doesnt ruin it...trial and error
@@bdanyluk thank you you're the man!
👍👍👍👍
Looks like a Dodge A100 van or the body to the mystery machine. But why do you have to wet sand? Why can't you just sand it dry?
Wet Sanding Gives You Less Scratches . Plus the Grits go A Lot Finer . Wet Sanding is What Real Car Body Shops Use. It leaves A Nice Finish .
Dry sanding leaves scratches.
October 21, Northeast Ohio Diecast show in Cleveland
I'll be in Hawaii. I have to get to one of these things again soon. How was the last one?
The spring show was average size. I've gone to all of them in the past four years.
thats what she said
lol
"Your fingerprints can certainly ruin a hand-job". It depends on the lubricant tho'. I guess it can if you use "greasy kid's stuff". LOL.
lol
Do wash off mineral spirits with soap and water
Yes and then just water.
All great advice. But a bench grinder investment and 2 buffer wheels will chrome a car out in 5 minutes with jewelers. I just got tired of hand polishing.
I have a bench grinder with buffing wheels, just don't use them for Hot Wheels.
Any details what grinder to use? I been wanting to do that since hand polish and sand way to much as my time is limited 2hrs once kids go to bed lol
I don't know how many times I have heard how fingerprints ruin handjobs !!! hahahahahahahaha !!! Looks awesome ! wonder what color you are making this? hmmmmm I hope the jerk likes it !
It's going to be red. Blood red..
I think that is too much sanding and time wasted, Red line shop has a primer paint available for that.
