    I love starting the season with SL skis to get back to basics before you go full tilt. You are such a ripper dude, keep it up.

    I much prefer the short radius ski to get serious carve angles without having to go warp speeds.

    I learned to ski last month on 160cm atomic XC ski's with a radius of 14m, now I found atomic GS 10 ski's with a 17m radius at 174 cm. I'm 177cm. I consider myself a good intermediate compared to the others on the slope (snowboard background helped in picking things up fast) and focus mostly on good deep carvy turns and am not afraid of going fast. Gs ski's are normally longer than the skier. Do you think it might work out for someone in my position, or don't even bother?

    Paul, question. Are you left handed or right handed. I've noticed in this and past videos that you come up a little more when you're transitioning from left ski to right ski than when you're going from right to left.

    Love this comparisons :) All the GS skis are probably Masters or FIS/race skis are they? I once tried the head e gs rd pro master with R20+, but i hadnt the precision yet to ride them the right way 😅🥲🥲

    • @paullorenz6389

      Yes, they take a bit of getting used to and a lot more speed.

    Hey Paul what’s your best SL ski ? I m thinking about buying Stockli laser SL, Völkl racetiger SL or Fischer WC Pro SL. I am intermediate/advanced and I love agility changing directions and sometimes I do also medium turns, my height is 175cm thanks mannn

      @@gwenndysnoel8158 this is Ski tecnique coming basically from Japan ski schools. I came from an Italian ski school, they teach us to stay more closed and the turns are way more racing style (cutted and fast as possible). But if you see him skiing on a open slope, he's incredible fun and stylish, so i like it, looks cool.

    Good video, but the "dirty secret" is that real GS skis need speed, or they're just planks, we're talking over 50 KPH, at least. If you don't want to constantly be at these speeds, these are not useful. Also, really understanding transition, tongue pressure, etc, is necessary. It probably helps to be 40 or younger, too, as there is NO WAY to get the angulation seen here without massive core strength and flexibility (and a functioning back).

    • @paullorenz6389
      @paullorenz6389  Před rokem +2

      Hi Rob, Yes you are correct, speed is the big difference. It is a shame that true GS skis have such a long radius as it makes them "unskiable" for most everyday skiers. Anyway thanks for your comment.

      Great comment Rob, I agree 100% I wonder how many people have bought skis like this and not been told of the 'skier input' needed to make them work? I've seen too many intermediates on racing skis - because they looked good and made a good commission for the salesman! Buyer beware!

    • @555vrx
      @555vrx Před rokem +2

      My first skis ever were GS skis, not FIS version, but still longer then myself and R17.5. It was really hard to start progressing with them, so i've bought pair of SL 165/R13 skis (again not a FIS ski, FIS SL ski is an absolutely different animal) that is in my opinion perfect type of ski to learn and progress in carving.

    • @paullorenz6389
      @paullorenz6389  Před rokem +1

      @@555vrx yeh an SL definitely helps learning and improving your edging skills. The movements are very similar just allows you to practise at slower speeds and is a little more forgiving if you move in too far. Good luck for the season ahead.
