- Lets take a trip to the skincare graveyard and look at the skincare I no longer use and why. From La roche-posay through to Faded Topicals Discolouration Serum and more.
Hey guys and welcome to todays video where we are talking the skincare I no longer use and the former skincare holy grails which I have moved on from and why.
When it comes to skincare and our skin care routine, it is fine to change our minds and skincare is a journey not a destination. In this video I want to share with you the skincare favourites I used to love but have moved on from and the reasons why.
I would love to know the skincare you no longer use so let me know your skincare fails in the comments section below.
If you enjoyed this video and would like to see more like this then please let me know by giving it a thumbs up and a like.

Rob- I’d like you to show us your entire AM routine and entire PM routine…in separate videos of course! 😁
I am forever changing up my routine and products that I use. Sometimes I get overwhelmed with it all and have days when I use nothing but factor 50 😊❤
Which is always Altruist face fluid ❤
OMG I love the altruist sunscreens. such a good choice.. love x
I just don't get to hype when it comes to altruist face fluid😅 I love their body sunscreens tho.❤ Amazing! I used altruist face fluid all summer, because of the high ppd rating. But for me it's definitely not oily skin friendly. Sticky, Shiny and even whitecast. And god it stings my eyes like no other sunscreen. Wanted badly to love it tho because of price point and protection. I do know that eye sting is very indevisual 😊
Love this video, Rob, and it's so true. Part of the joy of skincare is discovering new faves and sadly having to admit that old ones just don't work anymore or you've progressed to better/different formulations. Of course, many things will remain absolute holy grails but it's all a journey ❤
I'm going broke buying what you recommend! Stop already, lol! I have purchased from four skincare stores and spending a fortune! Will keep you updated on what works for me! BTW, I'm from Texas!
Nice work I didn't catch an edit!! I am so happy to see your numbers climbing everyday! You are my holy grail.
Loved this video from you, thank you for sharing your thoughts on all things skincare x
Such an informative video thanks so much I agree with so many of these. We all go through so many changes until we find the right thing for our face. Happy Monday and lots of love everyone x
Happy Monday hun and sending you so so much love xx
Love this!!! So confirming to changing or tweaking (as i do) if your are not getting results your expecting.
My massive change has been from Beauty of Joseon to Numbuzin Range, sooo glad for the switch too❤. Did this a month ago.
Changed:
Essence, two serums to no3 soothing serum and collegen pudding.
Also, i used to use my glycolic acid at night once a week.. now, i use it in the morning, just before vitC. Loving that.
But lookin forward to see what lactic acid can deliver aswell!
Thanks for fab info
Hi Rob, I am in my late 50's and only been using serums a few months (amazing results I've got to say even at my age) and already I am feeling I need to cut down on a product. Your skin looks amazing, thanks for the videos 🥰
Ayyyy! He took my suggestion!
Thanks for making the video.
Thanks for the suggestion :) sending you so much love xx
I could no longer use glycolic acid after I started tretinoin and switched to TO lactic acid 10% on your recommendation. The skin is on point! I still use the glycolic on my chest and back.
Yay I am so so glad its working for you hun .. I think lactic acid is the way forward as its really made my skin glow like no other product.. ,love xx
@@MadAboutSkinohhhh now I see why glycolic acid stopped working for me after I started tretnoin
Learn so much here
Great to see product updates! I recently moved on from Skinceuticals Phloretin CF (it's their vitamin C serum for discoloration and part of their Vitamin C line with CE Ferulic). But Skinceuticals recently raised the price from around $168 to $182 USD, and there are just too many substitutes on the market to justify paying that much. So I just bought the DRMTLGY version to try at about 25% of the Skinceuticals price after the discount. Even if I have to use more product, I can at least afford to, and I can afford to put it on my neck and chest too.
Thank you so much for sharing and sending you lots of love xx
For my dry skin Vanicream gentle cleanser used to be my favorite…But i have found a bar soap (yes!! can you believe that) that works just as well called Ethique “Bliss bar”…(Fragrance AND cruelty free and PLASTIC packaging free 😮) It last me 6 months using 2x per day. ❤ Love it!
Plastic??😢
Ooh thank you so much for the recommendation I will check it out.. love x
@@VictoriaDixonPence-xy9gwNO plastic packaging!
Vs my former favorite’s only 8 ounce plastic bottle packaging… a big deal was cleaning out my eyes after shampoo/conditioner…they burned my eyes (like a baby) so a face wash that was gentle (i have dry skin and the cream cleansers out there were basically light weight lotion and not cleansing or washing irritation of hair care products running into my eyes..🤗
Yes the bliss bar is amazing!! I got it on a whim on sale and it is so good for my sensitive skin
I used to be pretty obsessed with glow recipe. I used their entire line for quite a while before I finally discovered, and really started experimenting with K beauty and other more affordable brands. I cannot imagine spending the prices I was spending before now. Although, I do think certain things are still worth splurging for. For example, I just picked up the peach and lily copper peptides serum and I’m very excited to try it out. I’ve heard very very intriguing things about copper peptides.
Do you have a dupe for Glow Recipe’s Watermelon Glow Pink Juice Moisturizer? I liked the way that made my skin look but most other moisturizer with hyaluronic acid in them make my skin look greasy. And I’m a dry skin gal!
Thank you for this I fully trust you.
Happy Monday fabulous as always 😊❤xx
Awww thank you so so much hun and happy monday xxxxxx
Just like the 7% glycolic acid train, I never jumped on the AHA+BHA peels train too in fear of hyperpigmentation (being a POC).. instead I use lactic acid peel & it is mind-blowing & so hydrating at the same time
Please make a video showing us your AM & PM skincare routine
My routine continually evolves, and about six Mon this after I started using it, I stopped using the Topicals Faded Serum. It wasn’t the smell-it simply didn’t do anything! I have replaced it since with Geek and Gorgeous’ APad. Now I’m giving the Numbuzin 5 serum a try…
Hi Rob! Recently bought your lip conditioner and LOVING it! The first lip balm that doesnt dry my lips out and it lasts brilliantly. Amazing product, well done!
I recently got my hands on the Numbuzin Vitamin Concentrate Serum and really wanted to love it but used it twice so far and both times my face has felt tacky all day. Have you any tips for applying? My skin type is normal/sometimes dehydrated. Thanks
Yay I am so so glad the lip conditioner is working so well for you hun thank you so much for your kind words.. Oh thats odd with the numbuzin but I would think the best way to get around it is to use your moisturiser straight after and kind of lock it in, I hope this works xx
The cicaplast baume i absolutely love it and saved my skin while using tret. i never used it as a stand alone moisturizer, i always put it on top of my cerave moisturizing cream. it havent been greasy or clogged my pores (i have sensitive, acne prone, very dry/dehydrated skin type)
I agree, I use it the same way over another moisturizer at night. It’s still just as good as before the the reformulation that he got upset about. I don’t think it deserves to be “cancelled”
I use it as a last layer in the winter when my skin is dry and irritated! I wish they made a bigger tube of it!
@@sierrarmcclain I bought my 100ml bottle from stylevana ! I was wondering why ppl in Europe had the bigger sizes lol
Rob plz i want a total skincare routine for 43 age old . I am so confused with products needed
I tried to love topicals but it was just not giving me results.
Moved right along… I’ll look into your other recommendations
Thnx
I used to use the Drmtlgy Needle-less serum, but I have since switched to the Maelove The Hydrator. While the Drmtlgy serum had amazing ingredients, I found that my current skincare routine already includes those ingredients. The Maelove The Hydrator, on the other hand, is packed with Resveratrol, which I use at night to repair my skin from daily sun damage. It has been a great replacement for the Needle-less serum.
Thank you so much for watching and sharing Hun.. sending love x
I layer my gel moisturizer with a slightly heavier moisturizer. When you’re extra and you know it ;) Also repurchased the copper peptide serum from The Ordinary and I think it has replaced the “regular” version. So soothing and helps reduce redness.
Thank you so much for sharing hun and sending you so so much love xx
My problem with Cicalfate is that is does not spread out in the face easily. Btw you have to try the peeling cream from Avene that’s retinol I’ve changed all my retinols for that one and it’s my discovery of the year. It’s called A-oxitive night. Glorious!
Thank you so much for watching and sharing xx
I have been religiously using Faded for almost two years now and am extremely disappointed with no improvement on the hyperpigmentation. Never a day I don’t use sunscreen SPF 50
PA++++ and retinal and other active ingredients. Also wear sun protection masks, clothing
I like trying new things, but I still use my holy grails which are Stratia Liquid Gold, Cosrx Advanced Snail 92 All in One Cream, and Curology w/ tretinoin (even though Curology increased the price of their bottles by $20! 😫😫😫)
Similar idea here! Stratia LG, CosRX Snail Essence, and Dermatica tretinoin (switched from Curology after the price hike) are always in mine.
92AIO ❤❤❤❤
@onednp I’m going to go investigate Dermatica’s prices. Thanks!
New cicaplast peels, it forms a white film on the skin so it's unusable in the morning.
Did you try ILLIYOON ceramide ato gel? It seems to last longer on me than COSRX 92AIO cream - the 92AIO is still my holy grail though 😂
Beauty of Joseon Red Bean Water Gel is the best.
Thanks for sharing xx
I want to try that!
My current favourite 😍
Have you reviewed any MAELOVE products?
I tried the ordinary lactic acid, it smelled horrible - not for me. Also I don’t have oily skin but I’m not sure about your comment of your skin being dry halfway through the day, I’ve never experienced that.😊
Weird, I never thought it has much smell at all. I never put my nose in it though 😂. There are much smellier products, for me, like Paula’s Choice Azelaic Acid, or The Inkey List Polyglutamic Acid.
Thanks so much for sharing and I guess everyone has their own experience so thank you for sharing yours x
I used the Topicals Faded and it did nothing at all for my sunspots. So diappointed. I've been using a gel moisturizer this summer, Heimish Watermelon Moisture Soothing Gel Cream. I have dry skin and my skin stays hydrated for hours and hours. Perhaps because I use both a Korean toner and essence, as well as a couple of serums and sunscreen. AND I have bought Glow by Missha.
same here been using for 2 months now 0 results 😢 totally
um yea it reduces hyperpigmentation by 90% but no results in sun spots
To the skincare graveyard: all Yves Rocher products, all Vichy (got severe itching from a shampoo and decided to wash my car's wheels with it), some Kiehl's products (especially Vitamin C serum - got acne from it)
OMG I remember Yves Rocher that takes me back.. thanks for sharing x
Hi Rob! Can you please remind me what acid is in the MAS exfoliating gel?
Hi hun, its a blend with lactic, glycolic and salicylic acid in low but effective concentrations.. hope this helps xx
@@MadAboutSkin Thank you. I was nervous about the glycolic, but used it today as a wash off without any issues.
😊
Happy monday Mat x
🌸
Love xx
I am little confused about how to incorporate the Numbizin Vitamin Serum into my routine do I still apply my vitamin C then the numbizin and then my peptide serum or do I even need the other 2 now?😅
Yes thats the right way to apply it :) vitamin c then numbuzin then your peptide.. hope this helps x
I'm finishing out my Topical but it just did nothing for my hyperpigmentation
Oh I am sorry t hey that but I found the same and it broke me out too which is annoying.. sending love x
❤❤❤
Love x
Faded works on my skin
I think its more aimed at black skin
Yay I am so so glad its working for you hun .. thanks for sharing xx
Gel moisturizers are a pointless product unless they can replace a serum. Completely agree.
Thanks for sharing and sending you love x
I use 5% lactic acidosis the ordinary
Thank you so much for sharing hun xx
🌞
love xx
Stand alone HA products and The Ordinary niacinamide
Thank you so much for watching and sharing xx
A
Happy Monday hun.. love xx
Are Laroche- Posay and Avene cruelty free?
No, they’re not unfortunately 🙁
approaching 40??? can't believe it!! no no
Well another 2 years to go lol but getting there lol.. ;love xxxxxx
hi, may I ask about something else? can u recommend any blue light protection cream ?
Doesn't la roche posay test on animals?
I prefer when they test on animals first than on humans
I will never let go of the Oat Cleansing Balm
