    I've been working on 1911's for 40 years, a quick tip. I go to Wal-Mart and buy 100 count bags of bamboo teriyaki skewers, they're only 2 or 3 dollars and 100 will last a LONG time. They're pointed on one end and flat on the other, they make a great tool for moving the sear/disconnector, leaf spring, etc around and can't do any damage. What they're best for is depressing the thumb safety plunger to put the thumb safety back in, they will never mar your finish. I never use a metal tool to push the plunger in, you'll scratch the finish and it's always visible. When you work on someone's hugely expensive custom 1911 you always take every precaution never to leave a mark.

      Great tip. I also have a delrin pin that I use also. But most of the guns I work on are competition guns and usually more beat up than anything I could potentially mar on the guns. 😊

      Please help me understand the following, I can't find anything on this question...
      I lost my Grip Frame Screw on my Girsan Witness 2311 (they call it a Trigger Bushing and screw)... what does it do, what is it for?
      I lost mine while shooting and didn't realize it until a day or two later.
      It doesn't look like it does anything, just a sleeve with a male/female screw that doesn't screw into anything but itself. Is it still safe to shoot without that screw?
      Thanks in advance, love your detailed information you provide on your channel!

    This video was extremely informative, thank you. I ordered a PT Hero grip and swapped it onto my Staccato XC and the grip safety would no longer engage. Looking at the internals, it looks like the grip safety isn't making contact with the trigger bow. Any idea where to go from here? My gunsmith couldn't figure it out either.

    • @tacticalbert
      @tacticalbert  Před měsícem

      A couple of things have to happen here. If you adjusted your pretravel too far back, your grip safety will not engage. So reset your pretravel on the trigger bow. Next is to make sure you have the right most finger on the sear spring calibrated (bent) outward a bit to give the grip safety some tension.
