  • We're going to dial in the english bunnyhop in this video - this can be repurposed on the trail to easy hop over challenging bits of trail, but it can also be used to balance in place. Don't forget your pedal scoop when you pop up, you'll need that to bring the back wheel off the ground.

    I can hop but I’ve always found it exhausting. I suspected poor technique. This video has helped me spot a couple of areas of refinement. The key one is I’ve been generally popping far too high. My son took a video and it really stood out. Now to focus on efficiency so I’ve got power left for any bigger pops I need to do to get around. Cracking series of videos 🎉🎉

      Awesome!! The efficiency thing is so key - smaller hops will not only do that, but it’ll make a big impact on your balance as well. Have fun with this one!

      @@topchoice1621you mean the Santa Cruz? It was in the video lots, showing us what’s possible out on the trail. The Marin has front suspension and just has a single speed setup, otherwise it is just like any other MTB. The Marin is easier to see the position of everything for me. Also I assume all these videos have been filmed in the past and are being uploaded/made public each day. He may not be able to use the other bike at this point

    Double bend elbow and knee get down central up the bottom bracket and between your feet.
    Release straighten elbow an knee in a upright motion.
    Those how get down with free heels ❤🎉
    Show amplitude
    If it's become harder in the body you probably do core building and not bicycle 😂😂😂

    Oh heck, go slow meant speed, I thought you meant with the hop movement so I was crouching slowly and springing up as slowly as I could to get the bike to just lift off the ground...
    The whole time I was at a standstill though, so technically I still did it right!

    • @SuperRiderTV
      @SuperRiderTV  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Ha! You get extra bonus points for doing the whole thing slow - I can't imagine how much harder that must've been!

      @@SuperRiderTV Not going to lie I was thinking "how on earth is Aaron doing this slowly and still popping off the ground?" but made it work. It was more like the lock the brakes and see how long I can stand there challenge at that point though.

    Evil laugh at the end! - love these exercises - I have a big bike but I'm digging them - balance is improving!
    I have a question: with the method in the clock exercise where the front wheel is being moved sideways and throwing the knee out is part of the move. I tried this and it works a charm, but I fond if I lift the wheel to the side and up onto something (say a double height kerb), more upper body is used to lift and shift to the side - is this correct?

    • @SuperRiderTV
      @SuperRiderTV  Před 5 měsíci +1

      That's right - you might also try shifting your weight even further back to really unweight the front wheel for height. But, sounds like you're definitely on the right track, that's cool that you tried it onto an obstacle!

    I was hoping to do the 10 hops back and forth, right and left as a warmup before a trail ride this morning, but my buddy beat me to the trailhead, then we had to adjust his derailleur. After the ride, I was too burnt to do it. I'll plan to do this as a warmup for tomorrow's challenge. I did get 20 hops in place yesterday. Do you have any tips on how to force oneself to utilize hops when getting stuck on the trail? Even though I am fairly proficient at hopping in practice, when I get stuck on the trail, I usually just trackstand and try to adjust the wheels a little if needed by rocking. I tend to use the hop more when in motion.

    • @SuperRiderTV
      @SuperRiderTV  Před 5 měsíci +1

      To be honest, if I can accomplish the same task by rocking, I usually go that route. I find that the hop is really useful when you can use it to move forward slightly, that's where it really shines. Practice hopping up (or down) individual features on the trail, you'll see what I mean.

    I'm trying to get back to learning more technical skills after an injury 10 years ago, but a I feel like I'm held back by my long slack bikes. Is there any point in getting a 26" dirt jumper with a front brake and a dereuler hanger for learning more technical riding on the trails? I think my skills are just too bad to progress with a modern 29" trail bike. Progress is so slow.

    • @SuperRiderTV
      @SuperRiderTV  Před 5 měsíci

      I think a dirt jumper would be a helpful way to focus in on bike control, it's easier (in my experience) to learn it the easiest way possible and then transfer it to different bikes. Either a dirt jumper or even a street trials bike would be extremely helpful - and the main reason why I chose this bike for the 30-day series.
