As a blazers fan, I hate our ownership for doing nothing. That said, losing kanter, melo, and zach collins is NOT a downgrade. Blazers needed defense. Kanter and melo are TERRIBLE at defense. Have you ever thought about comparing teams by using their total salaries for the year and the amount of wins in that year? Could be interesting comparing how efficiently a team uses their money for example knicks last season had a bunch of salary but still managed to win 41 games, compared to golden state who are a annual luxury tax team who only won 39 games (yes ik klay was inured).

Convenient how you left out Nets in that list, since they didn’t really fit either description last playoffs. Too injured to call them a bust
But the 2003 Lakers were a bust due to injuries.
Lebron and AD have both been injured these past three years. Though the stop in play and bubble helped them win last year as they had a chance to heal during the break. Westbrook has had his share of injuries or nagging pains at least. As had Carmelo, basically all of the all stars are getting to the point where they are injury prone. If they can stay healthy then they're a great team that not many can match, if injured then they'll be out before the playoffs like they almost were this year.
There's a grey line whether they call a team/player a bust because of injuries but for me, as long as they don't meet expectations, they're a bust. Same thing as what happened to Oden. People have been giving him the benefit of the doubt all this time but aren't physicalities part of the sport the same as the mental side of a player and proper roster management for a team? We tend to rely on the positives and dismiss the negatives because of the emotional and "what-if" aspects but the negatives and positives should always go hand in hand so we could see this through objectively. There's only one thing I can say, last year Nets was a bust plain and simple.

LeBron has always tried to build a Super Team to surround him while in the NBA. He tried with with Heat, went back to the Cavs once they had a team established and poised to be contenders, and for the past three years, it's been the Lakers. The Lakers seem to gain and throw-away players every year since LBJ has been a member. He simply wants more championships than MJ.

That 2012-2013 squad was injured top down throughout the season. From Nash, to Kobe, to Dwight (torn labrum), to Antwan Jamison. Second half of the season they went 28-12...on pace for a 57 win team. So injuries and a new system played a huge role in why that team underperformed. And once they started performing well Kobes achilles tore and that was the end of it.
