This episode didn’t air until MONTHS later in my country but I saw this intro online before the episode aired over here! For Christmas that year, I got The Simpsons Movie on Blu Ray and Surf’s Up on UMD, both of which I still have today!
I always found it weird how they didn't show us what happened to Spider Pig after the Simpsons left Springfield. His final appearence on the movie was when he dropped the family from a wooden plank to save them from a bunch of arrows when they were trying to cross it to get to Flanders' house. Turns out he just chilled in the house waiting for them like a good pet, huh. Well, that's fine to me :)
I remember that Matt Groening said that Springfieldians ate him ala Barbeque offscreen They were going to show it, but deemed it way too strong for the movie's tone

The animation looked great, just everything wasnt widescreen. And the quality of this video isn't that great, compared to what the intro and episode actually look like.
This has already been reanimated and kept alive as an eternal thrall by Fox already. And considering how large a pop culture icon the Simpsons are, it'll likely stay like that for years to come, up until Dan Castellaneta or someone equally important, like Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith, or Hank Azaria bites the dust, because while you could justify Mrs. Krabappel's death since she's a support character, the main Simpson's family and most of Hank's characters are so thematically important to the fabric of the Simpson's universe, their sudden disappearances or death will upset the balance of the show and make it impossible to justify continuing on, even if a substitute is found. The reason why Samurai Jack's Aku was able to be in there while remaining popular with his voice is because Makoto had an understudy in the form of Greg Baldwin, and that Greg was able to adapt when Makoto eventually did pass on. And with consideration of the trend regarding Mrs. Krabappel, it seems that there's no obvious understudies with the main voice cast.

That being said, they aren't usually taking risks on said movies, and are generally talked less about because they aren't Snow White or Little Mermaid, where they were basically rifle shots in the dark for the Disney corporation.
I think it's amazing how detailed they are with this like instead of just drawing a school building that's been destroyed they remember that it's Canada Springfield elementary was perfectly fine when they got there so they chose to have the School building perfectly intact
