Granted, Highlander II was a wreck of a movie, but I'm a Highlander fan and I love watching it for its visuals, atmosphere, action scenes (especially the hoverboard/train fight at the beginning and the fight on the moving Humvee) and it's always a pleasure to watch Sean Connery and Christopher Lambert! Shows you that some movie wrecks are still very much enjoyable.
Love how they show Connery's characters exit at 1:35, almost as if they were trying to cram as much of him as possible here to con viewers into thinking he was in all the way through
I remember reading apparently the UK version was 8-10 minutes longer than the infamous original cut released in the USA so it made slightly more sense. Even so, it still had Zeist and the alternative ending with MacLeod flying!

I went to see it here in my native country of Scotland & i figured since they had Russell Mulcahy on-board for the follow up then it would be in good hands but it was absolutely the lowest point as a Director for Russell Mulcahy... It didn't do anything to harm Big Tam aka Sean Connery resurgence at coming out of an early retirement as they knew from his past roles that he wasn't to blame & many were still lining up to get Big Tam to star in their movies & it didnt do any harm to Christopher Lambert career either as he was in great demand to star in films in Europe & since he was a hit in the French made " Subway " & proved under a short period he could speak english well enough that he got the role in " Greystoke The Legend of Tarzan, Lord Of The Apes " which to the critics & movie goers alike think is the best movie so far to be made about Tarzan... So it all fell on Russell Mulcahy's to shoulder all the blame & if your going to be a Movie Director then you better learn that there's the high with the lows & you just have to accept when a particular film is a right off & move on & he showed he could do this by bouncing back & making " Ricochet " with up & coming Denzel Washington... You'd be surprised at the amount of movies that went on to become flops that were not because of the Director but the Producers constant persistence in cutting back on money & they did this with Highlander (the first) until Big Tam found out about it & he threaten to quit the movie along with other cast members & do you know what they tried to save money on, food for the cast but predominantly the " extras " & that they were not to get a lunch break either... No doubt Russell had the Producers down his neck to constantly cut corners but the main thing is they should've left it at one movie as it covered as much as it could within one movie which was specifically the end climatic fight scene for the prize which wasnt even in the script because yet again the Producers put pressure on the Director to make sense of why they had fought for thousands of years & instead of just good defeating bad they decided it had to be something bigger, bolder & with grandeur & we're lucky they didnt ruin the first movie with their constant meddling... There's been plenty of movies directed that directors went off to disown as full control of the movie was taken away from then & instead of the movie they directed the Producers edited & put out a movie that was nothing like what the director had shot... Fan's & movie goers forget that " Highlander " was only Christopher Lambert's 2nd english speaking movie & althoigh he was born in America his family moved to France when he was an infant... Its one thing to learn English but to learn Scottish speaking English that you could understand is more difficult but since it was set in the days of the Highlander's they spoke better English than the English & still do but since the movie was set in the old days of living in the Highlands then in reality they would have spoken Gaelic & Latin but definitely not English.. What you have to understand his our own native tongue & language of Gaelic was outlawed in 1616 and suppressed further after the Jacobite rebellion of 1745... But with this movie being a fantasy the fact that they had to speak English instead of Gaelic or Latin wasn't going to get in the way of them making the movie... Its always been my opinion that they should have only made one movie but Holkywood just cant stop trying to get blood out of a stone & go ahead and make as many follow ups as possible... Its different now when you think of all the Fast & The Furious films aling with the Alien films & many more as the onky movie that had guaranteed follow ups were the James Bond movies but that all changed by the late 70s onwards... I'm not a huge Highlander fan, so I don't know if that makes sense in it's lore, but this is a franchise where sense isn't a high priority. As a kid you learn to suspense your imagination in order to enjoy things more readily, perhaps before developing critical faculties. I liked the first film and the idea of immortals fighting with broadswords in murky back alleys settling age-old scores, while the neon megalopolis seemed oblivious.

My dislike was about the follow up film " Highlander 2 The Quickening " which this trdiler is for & the 2nd film threw away whatever mystery that caused them to be immortal unless their head was cut off , which technically doesn't make them immortal , but i was happy to forget that oversight as i enjoyed the FIRST Highlander movie but not the 2nd Highlander movie... Again i stress that my dislike opinion was about the 2nd follow up movie & it was rightly panned by fan's & critic who enjoyed the first movie... In the 2nd movie taking away the mystery as to why they were immortal just ruined it & if you dont know " Spoiler Alert " it turns out that they are from another planet & that they were banished to Earth & the only way to return ti tbeir home planet was to wait & win the challenge of being the last man standing & therefore he could go back to his own planet , which essentially makes him an alien & for me the 2nd movie was so bad i felt like walking out of the cinema a few times as , to me , its that band... i remember liking this movie as a kid, it was my favourite out of the films.. however i haven't seen it in 27 years or, the trailer does still look good.
i know on the planet EARTH and any Universe this episode is shit but i like this for soundtrack,actors do maximum, soft scenario but love this for HIGHLANDER. maybe ONE day will remake.
I had the misfortune of going to see this in the cinema when it was released & thankfully i had enough to go on with regards to its story to know it might not live up to the original & well if you've seen it then you'll know how bad it is but i thought i'd give this movie the benefit of the doubt but boy how wrong was i... Its so bad it was voted one of the worst movies made by critics & fans alike that thats quite rare & like its well know tag line within " Highlander " of " There can only be one " this was used to pan the movie & that they shouldn't have made a sequel... Without giving anything away too much but to come up with the idea they were from another planet kind of made sense but changing it from mythological fantasy to sci-fi along with the aspects of being exiled to earth just ruined this movie... They got their story across within one movie & that should have been enough but Hollywood always has to boot the arse out of film's & make follow up after follow up & this film is up their with Beverley Hills Cop 3 for being so bad... Ricochet was another thst didnt do so well in threatres but the 80s into the 90s was a brutal time for filmakers as critics just seemed to hate everything but via Video Renting it found a fan base & was cementing Denzel Washington's credibility on him carrying a film on the back of his name & he was soon the go to actor for many directors as with this movie he proved he could do the action man type of character but this movie was by far not an oscar winning part for the young Denzel but it proved he had that star quality that could hold the screen the way we've gotten to see him over the last 4 decade's but back when " Ricochet " was released he was still earning his stripes... I'd have to put this Highlander follow up along with Beverley Cops 3 along with Judge Dredd , the Stallone one , as being 3 of the worst movies i've every watched at the cinemas... If you havent seen the 2012 " Dredd " film then give it a watch as its the best film version so far... I wish this movie was set a few years after the first one no origin of the immortals just him mortal. Now maybe he’s a peace negioator with his powers and a corrupt bureaucrat in the senate tries to kill him, by sabotaging his plane. Maybe he finds himself in a similar situation to temple of doom, having to free slaves and get into a sword fight with Molaram.
@Lord Dimwit Flathead I think I would have preferred Highlander 2 be about the temple of doom Then Indiana Jones Temple of Doom most people didn't like it because of the new cast and different story in temple of doom.
The film is so bad even the narrator stops talking. It’s a real shame because Highlander had so much potential but this sequel pretty much stopped the franchise from being a success.

Utterly terrible sequel to one of the best films of the 1980s, but I still like it hehe
