  • Here's a pretty rare large Rain Bird 90 full circle impact sprinkler. It has a 2-1/2" MNPT inlet connection with three nozzles, a 3/8" (9.53mm) drive nozzle with a 3/16" (4.8mm) off-axis spreader nozzle below it and a .47" (12mm) opposing range nozzle. It's running at 33 PSI (2.3 bar) irrigating a radius of about 90ft (27.4 meters) with a flow rate of 158 GPM (35.9 m3/h).

    Very Nice running 90! That head works very well for that pressure, the arm spring is set up perfectly.
    It has a great distribution of water and a nice smooth rotation speed.
    The last time I ran one of my 90’s was on about 80 psi, I’m impressed with how well that works… and that is a beautiful stand you have set up!
    The 90 and 95 are two of my favorite big RainBirds…. They are very good looking artistically shaped heads, along with the 65C with the curvy shaped arm and rounded “peanut” shaped counterweight.
    Awesome head.
    I see there is a guy with 32 of them for sale…. Must’ve been quite a ranch or Ag set up they are coming from. Would be cool to see that many of them giant in one place.
    Not as massive as the 100 but very impressive.
    Thanks for sharing.

      Thank you! Yes it does work quite well at lower pressures, I imagine it would turn a little quicker with higher pressure as the arm would kick back more. I really like the 90 and 95 as well. That would be something to see a bunch of these all in operation. Thank you for watching!

    Ever noticed how Rainbird or any other manufacturer out there never made a opposing nozzle part circle impact? There was one i did see a VERY long time ago online that was ON but was part circle. It had like 4 nozzles, I believe it was chinese made and plastic. I tried looking for it now but cant find it. I guess if you need a ON impact, you dont need a part circle model too. Although if you were irrigating a strip of lawn, You could use it to irrigate just that small strip, although you'd have to modify the impact to have a rear range nozzle and just use the forward facing one to get close in. I used to do that with the plastic impacts i had. A gilmour, I used that modification to irrigate the strip on the side of the house. Now that makes me wonder, what if that was used on a FR gun? maybe a long range tube on the back and a big nozzle to get behind it. Maybe not used on a pivot due to overwatering but somewhere it didn't matter.

      @photocontrol  Před 8 měsíci

      That sounds interesting to have an opposing nozzle set up on a part circle impact. It doesn't seem practical for a part circle, as you only want the water to cover a certain arc area, but if the sprinkler came with an assortment of nozzle sizes and plugs then you can configure it for different situations, like you mention a narrow strip or adjust it for full circle. On a FR gun that could work for watering a narrower section of a field.

    I seen a picture where someone modded some P100 big guns where they had a rear nozzle that stuck out about a couple foot from the base.i thought it was rather interesting. At the end they had a 100 taper bore nozzle. I assume they wanted to get very far out, more than the drive nozzle could get. Was very strange to see

    • @photocontrol

    Very nice RB 90! Did you find that on eBay? It runs well on your setup. Is this just a FC version of the 95? except having a rear range nozzle? I had no idea RB even made a 90.

    • @photocontrol
      @photocontrol  Před rokem

      Thanks! Yes it was an eBay find awhile back. It does run good even at lower pressures. Yes I would say it's a FC version of the 95, but a larger size and more water volume.

    I seen a few of these on eBay or on Bigiron. There interesting for sure. I wonder if you got a second pump to run in series how much farther it'd get out. I need to find another 100B thats not siezed on a riser. The dealer has one on a gun stand however, I wonder if he has the rest of the pieces to make it stand up. I could deal with finding the fittings to hook up to it if it would run that way. I'd have to ask. I need to look around there again maybe I'll find something I have been looking for. Thank you for sharing this 90! It makes me wonder what if Rainbird made a 105B (part circle model to the 100B). I wonder what that would look like (probably all 3 forward facing nozzles with a big long range tube!)

    • @photocontrol
      @photocontrol  Před 7 měsíci

      One day I'll have to get a second larger high volume pump and try it out. I believe the 100B was Rain Bird's largest impact sprinkler.
