  • In this video I am reviewing a Multimeter from Kaiweets (KM601) and a precision screwdriver kit also from Kaiweets (S20).
    I've been sent these for free so this is technically a paid review but I promise all my viewers that I will be impartial (I was very clear with Kaiweets before agreeing to make this video).
    Here is a video from ‪@TheDefpom‬ reviewing the accuracy of the KM601: • 🔴 How Accurate Is The ...
    ------------
    The KM601 can be purchased on Amazon for £49.99 (Dec 2022). This is **NOT** a sponsored link, I do not get money out of it! :)

    The S20 Screwdriver kit can also be purchased on Amazon for £21.99 (it went up since shooting the video). Again, this is **NOT** a sponsored link!

    After three weeks the KM601 is perfect. I needed a replacement set of "leads," and the Kaiweet's support team is second to one ...they sent me what I needed and more. I received a better response from the support team than you do on a new car, or new appliances at Lowes, or just about anything I've purchased in the past ten years that required contact with customer support.

    I think the kaiweets for the price would be a very good "youtube" multimeter, with the big backlit display.
    although I think the display being permanently backlit would kill the battery way quicker than the basic LCD
    I think it's a good product. it's no fluke but it's also not fluke priced.
    also the screwdriver set is pretty slick.
    also never underestimate that the screwdriver set comes to a full size driver adapter. you cannot buy those on their own. they're so handy for using full size handles.

      Oh, I missed that bit! That's great indeed! Thanks for mentioning!
      Yes, I agree it's ok for the price. I hope I was fair enough when comparing with the Fluke, as we know Fluke equipment sits on a very different price range (but they're so cool! LOL) Thanks for watching!

    Dismissing the auto function at the start, while ignoring its utility, is unfair. In auto mode, it finds volts and ohms automatically, compared to the rotary dial. Yes, to use other functions requires multiple presses compared to the dial. If you are measuring current on both meters you have to remove and reinsert the probe which takes longer than spinning the dial or pressing the button. And the correct jack indication is worthwhile. Just because you can afford a Fluke doesn't mean you can't make a misteak! And it will cost a lot more to repair. I've been doing Electronics since 1955. So I do appreciate your reservations. But I do love the large digits at my age!

    • @tony359
      @tony359  Před 11 měsíci

      It's a matter of personal preference of course. I'd like to be in control of my multimeter and I don't like those automatism. I tried the automatic feature and almost immediately it read what I didn't intend to read so I dismissed it! In the end I gave it a positive review though! I appreciate your input of course and I'm glad you like this meter! Thanks for watching

      I never owned a Fluke (except a 8030A I just got at a hamfest!), but I did buy the deluxe Fluke probes to use with my Amprobe and Kleins! They did cost more than the Kaiweets DMM! But I take your point about buying good gear, and I still have Triplett meters and Xcelite tools from the 50's. I guess they WILL outlive me!

    • @tony359
      @tony359  Před 11 měsíci

      Exactly. Of course not everybody can afford the latest and greatest. The Kaiweets is a good little one. I just wanted to make sure my audience understood the difference between a better one and a basic one.

    Awesome review. Look like Extech just doesn't make the cut. Really not sure why it performed so poorly considering it's a 140£ unit they can afford to put quality components. The Kaweet is a nice slim unit and I don't see a need for unnecessary bulk. The key attraction is the big display but it's a bit of a power drain. Still it really looks nice and for 50£ you can afford a new set of probes. But you've also shown why Fluke is the gold standard of meters. Yes they cost more but you get measurement confidence and it's the only one that can measure speaker resistance. Fantastic review.

      @tony359  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I was also sceptical about the screen but it's been a while and it's still running on the original batteries I used in the review - fair enough I use it very little and they're now showing "low" but not so bad! Absolutely agree on Extech, I was so disappointed. Fluke is Fluke but... :)

      @@danialtun5431 Counts tell you what the instrument can display before it changes to the next range. From instrumentationtools.com/multimeter-digits-counts/#
      For example, suppose a Multimeter is of 20000 counts (4 ½ digit Multimeter). This means the range changes when it hits 20000 on display.
      A 20000 count meter can read 19.999 V on the display, but when it tries to display 20 V, it will read 020.00 V instead or simply 20.00 V.
      ----
      The Kaiweets is a 10000 counts, it means that it can display 9.999V but when moving to 10V it will display 10.00V
      Count does NOT show how accurate the instrument is but its reading resolution.

    Sadly your speaker resistance test has to be BS as i tested all my speakers with KM601 up to 10" and no such results as you get, may be you specially used 18" speaker to prove your case.
    Anyway its silly to make such conclusions if it only applies to 18" plus speakers.

    • @tony359
      @tony359  Před rokem

      Your feedback is welcome but I did not choose the speaker! It depends on a number of factors, including cable length and also noise in the room (the speaker acts as a microphone).
      The speaker I used was one I actually had to measure. The Fluke gave me an answer, the Kaiweets did not. Simple :)

    • @MrSookonn
      @MrSookonn Před rokem

      @@tony359 Turns up you blame kaiweets for the noise in your test room.... Why i did not get this result with many speakers? I shouted at 10" speaker and it hardly changed the multimeter reading. Something fishy here. Cable length has nothing to do with that 100%.

    • @tony359
      @tony359  Před rokem

      I am not blaming anybody. I shared my experience. I needed to measure that impedance, the speaker is inaccessible. The Extech and the Kaiweets could not measure it. The Fluke could. It doesn't make the Kaiweets a bad product, I just pointed out a limitation which is understandable for a £50 product. You are free to think I have staged this test.

    • @Jazzhop101
      @Jazzhop101 Před rokem

      @@tony359 you do recommend…. In the end. That’s my point, no one can deny this is a good product, especially at this price point, no need to act as if it is beneath you, just because you use supposedly better kit, no need for snobbery, £1 meter with 20% error has no bearing on my comment, as if something is not fit for purpose it could never be a bargain, so again you’re trying to be clever. Look like other experts in this field say in their reviews and “opinions “ there are better ones out there obviously, however no one else seems to have your type of snobbery about this. And that’s my opinion! By the way I use a Fluke 1652, but this kit and price point serves a purpose and is surprisingly good again especially for the price point. Bargain simple!
