    Remember Ned's last words to Jon back in season 1.
    "The next time we see each other, we'll talk about your mother."
    They never saw each other again, but presumably, Ned intended to tell him about Lyanna.

    The trial scene with the setting, the music, the building tension and the final explosion is my favorite scene from GOT. It's all the more incredible since clues to Cersei's plan had been placed during previous episodes.
    - Episode 6: at the beginning, Bran has multiple visions of the past and the future, and we see the wild fire spreading underground
    - Episode 7 : Olenna tells Cersei that she is surrounded by enemies and asks her if she plans to kill them all by herself :)
    - Episode 8: when Jaime speaks to Edmure in the tent, he tells him Cersei would be ready to reduce cities to ashes for her children
    - Episode 8: Cersei and Qyburn discuss an "old rumor" that Qyburn's little birds confirmed, saying there was much more than they thought
    - Episode 9: Tyrion tells Daenerys that the Mad King had scattered caches of wild fire under several places in the city, including the sept of Balor

    • @tsxtina2919
      @tsxtina2919 Před 21 dnem

      It was foreshadowed way before that too. She promised three different times she would burn places/cities/houses to the ground in previous seasons. She tells Tywin she will burn their house down by telling the truth about her incest when discussing how Margaery and Tywin will fight over Tommen and rip him apart. She tells Jaime she will burn the Martellsand/or Sand Snakes and/or Dorne when she gets Myrcella’s necklace as a threat. When she’s telling Tommen she’ll get Margaery out of her imprisonment and she loves him and would do anything for him to keep him save. “I will burn cities to the ground” she says to him. And if you really think about it it was her idea to use the wild fire against Stannis. Tyrion perfected the idea, but it was her idea and she says “we’ll rain fire down on them from above.” So I think it was foreshadowed since season 2 that she would do something epic with wild fire. 🔥 🦁

    I think Benjen was read in on the Jon secret because after Brandon died, he should have moved up to Ned's former position as Holdfast to his brother and not gone to the NW, but he still went to the NW. He had to have done that to smooth the way for Jon, because Jon's life would always be in danger unless he was beyond the reach of the Realm (whoever would be in power). Benjen could be trusted because his devotion to Lyana would be same as Ned's, however Katelyn (emotional, hotheaded Tully) would give it away by not being bothered by Jon's presence or by giving him up if her children were ever in jeopardy. Ned loved her, but he knew her, and she could never know.

    • @Amy46032
      @Amy46032 Před měsícem +2

      Ive always thought this too because of Benjen’s statement to Jon during the 1st season. Jon is talking about joining the NW and mentions not having children. Benjen then looks pointedly at Jon and says “you might not say that if you knew what it meant to give up”

    • @orphanedhanyou
      @orphanedhanyou Před měsícem +3

      I've watched videos of people that read the books and it sounds like Benjen possibly knew Lyanna was the knight of the laughing tree and that Rhaegar found her out. Perhaps as far as when she willingly left with Rhaegar, she told Benjen not to tell on her. It's why he is so sullen and went to the wall - as a self punishment.

      yes it was an important nuance to note I think

    • @kobarsos82
      @kobarsos82 Před měsícem +2

      Sansa's plan was incredibly nuanced. It was a calculated gamble, gambling on what she knew about Baelish, that she had chances of him helping them, because she knew how much he loved Cat, and how he wanted to undo what was done to her from Ramsey. But nothing was a certainty. Nothing is certain when it comes to Littlefinger. So in a sense, telling Jon about it could in fact make more harm than help. Imagine doing plans about someone aiding you when he never does. There is nothing worse. It would only make things more complicated and more liable to failure.
      Whether we like it or not, this was a desperate but calculated move on her part, that proves how smart he is. There was nothing to gain by informing others about something that might not even happen. But it was still worth the gamble, their lives were on the line after all. Littlefinger still thinked he had good chances with Sansa. Well, the gamble payed off. She basically "used" Littlefinger here for the first time, just as he "used" her so many times in the past. She is "learning" for sure.

    It's a bit ridiculous to blame Sansa for the men that died at BOB. Firstly because there's no proof Sansa knew that the army is on its way. We never saw her receive a raven, and the conversation she had with Jon strongly suggests that she never did. If you recall, she was still insisting that the battle was a mistake because they didn't have enough men. She was very upset that they were certain to lose, and even told Jon that she would end her own life before going back. It would have been foolish for her to tell him that an army "might or might not" be on its way. Secondly, Jon was responsible for the men he was leading into battle. In all of his planning for the battle, he never devised a good use for the giant, and the plans he did make he completely scrapped by riding impulsively into Ramsay's trap (in spite of Sansa's warning). Once he made that move, all was lost. His men rode out there to protect him, and they were slaughtered. The killing of thousands of men on that field started with Jon's reckless ride.

    • @orphanedhanyou
      @orphanedhanyou Před měsícem +1

      She knew she had someone else to ask and she did not tell Jon. They could have waited a day or two for a possible response or meet up. That would have been reasonable for Jon vs the scenario Sansa set up where to Jon's knowledge they had zero other people to ask because they had zero other houses that would be loyal or allies to Starks. She directly caused this.

    Tywin men used crossbows, Tywin died by crossbow.
    Bolton stabbed rob up close, Bolton was stabbed the same way by his own son.
    Frays son cut Caitlyn’s throat, had his neck cut by a Arya.

  • @motulifelikefigures1987

    This is the best episode of the entire series. Saponik is a true master of a director. his visuals are chilling and cinema worthy- that felt as big as lord of the rings. the score in the beginning absolutely beautiful and thrilling. after battle of the bastards which kept me on the edge of the seat i thought it couldnt get anymore tense. but it did right with the opening of this episode. i regret i couldnt see that on big screen in the cinema.

    So if Cersei no longer knew where they are then maybe Tyrion had them hidden.

    Igli has a very excellent conscience 😂 way back in 5x10 during the Walk Of Shame he said no one deserves that, and now we see why that is true:
    yes, Cersei is beyond morally compromised, but brutalising her in front of the city, psychologically torturing her, publicly humiliating her, traumatising her like that -- well, paying evil unto evil only means we now have twice the evil as before -- so pushing Cersei further off the edge like that just pushed her into obliterating hundreds of lives... the city (and viewers) get to cheer for ten minutes at Cersei's horrific suffering... but putting her through that only fuelled her into becoming even worse, even more unstable, even more violent, so what was the point? where did it get us? paying evil unto evil only means we now have twice the evil...
    book readers will know that its going to be even more terrible than what was seen here in the show 💀
