The New "Flagship Killer"? - Realme GT First Impressions
Vložit

- LG Mobile is no more; the next generation of foldables is taking its time getting here; and the brand that phone freaks used to rely on to spice things up, OnePlus, has gone mainstream - with all the compromise that carries.
So when I saw that a new smartphone from Realme was about to expand beyond its initial China exclusive to a wider release - a phone powered by top-shelf silicon, with a leather backplate, pioneering charging technology and a price impossible to ignore ... I decided it’s time I re-examine my rule about only covering mobiles that come to the United States. Because phones like the Realme GT? I'm tired of missing out on.

Thanks for linking my review Michael! Awesome to see you covering these unique China releases now! 😃
It's Frankie! 👊
Just keep swimming!!!
Great to see you here.
Are you gonna review the Sony Xperia 1 III?
It surely is a great phone. For your money, you either get this or an iPhone SE without even a charger....... As consumers we must have critical thinking
Had me at leather back. I deeply miss the old 1st and 2nd gen Moto X days
Moto X style/pure with leather back was freakin’ awesome
@@quchi7232 my favourite smartphone design ever
I too miss the old motorola!
Does leather back age well, like can they last 3 years of use? I have seen leather cracking and peeling after a year or two, so i reckon a phone that can get hot in use would make the process faster.
@@notagain2856 it's vegan leather not really a leather so it should hold up for years but the colour might stain
The Realme X was awesome when it came out a few days before the 7T pro. All screen, no punchhole, SD710, $250, popup selfie camera. That's when I really thought about Realme as my next device, but I still got my OP6 and going strong. :)
Realme is the new OnePlus.
Can I just say, you could review toilet paper and I'd still watch it. The production value and scripting you use is top notch. Don't get me wrong, the phone and tech reviews are why I'm here, well, technically it's the "when phones were fun" series, but kudos to always making engaging content.
All that you could get on your mind is a toilet 🚽 paper? Seriously?
@@robo1989 chill, bro.
I want him to review toilet paper 😂
@@sportshub3045 chill ? For what?
@@Wimmle Hahaha
God, the serendipity of finding a brick wall where the phone seems to fit perfectly between the protruding decorative bricks
Michael's reviews are a class apart. More power to you brother!
I would be interested in budget and midrange reviews
Same! Phones from realme, Xiaomi, etc. Is appreciated
I mean, they're mostly just price to performance race, and offer nothing interesting, except that particular point
@@rachmatzulfiqar Yeah. More bugs too.
Yep. Samsung A52 and A72.. need reviews on that, for example.
Reviewing the Moto E and G series, maybe? I know it's available stateside, but it'd be nice to see how they're doing lately.
last i checked, moto G isn't as specs/price friendly as it used to be, moto E seems to remains a solid entry range option though
1:12 perfectly fits in
That's what she said
@@Vectrex368 u said this for likes*
@@itsMyproducts Nah, just perfect timing
Love this. As a former Sprint head (now tmobile employee) i LOVE the color scheme.
I wonder how they're going to adapt that thin charger to other plug styles
Seeing that small and thin and powerful charger, I wish Samsung should have these for their phones including their flagships, instead of getting rid of their chargers entirely for "environmental purpose".
We all need one universal wall outlet shape and size. Like come on... There is no real reason for it. I don't care which countries it is, but for Pete's sake can we just get a universal wall plug for the whole of earth?!
@@TechDove pretty much impossible due to voltage differences and the trillions of dollars it would take
@@Isaac-gh5ku well they had to copy Apple🤦🏻♂️ it's a shame really
@@TechDove well universal plugs would be nice except it most probably wouldn't include NA (specifically USA) since they tend to go their own way anyway. Heck I'm surprised they haven't invented their own unit of "time" yet
I see your sporting the G-Shock G-Squad Pro GSW-H1000..Nice !!
I saw your fujifilm! You should do a review of one or a video on your recording set up! Your voice with nerdy camera specs is the best!!!
Great impressions as always Mr. Mobile. What attracted me the most was the almost bezel less display that manages to hide the selfie camera in the notifications shade!
Widening the horizon eh.. Nice!
Very informative video, would love to see your take on the Redmi note 10 pro.
Yes! These are selling like hotcakes.
Oh, well...Until then, I'll just shop one or two year-old flagships...
Yup. I'm holding on to my xiaomi mi mix 3 until the next major phone improvement. 120hz screens, bigger batteries etc are all nice but I want bigger displays (some foldables have 200cm^2 displays but not Samsung ones) and no camera notch or hole punch.
I'm still using an s8 lmao, not the plus mind you.
@@lasarousi - It would be different to shell out big bucks if you were getting a 120Hz refresh rate OLED QHD screen, an amazing camera with 8K video capability with good on-board software + a wide angle and zoom, additional SD storage, a 3.5 headphone jack, a killer 24 or 32 bit DAC for the wired headphone audiophile, 5G, at least 256 GB of storage with 8 GB of RAM, AND at least a 35W fast recharge brick and longer cord... I'd gladly pay the $900.00 - $1300 range for that, but NOT for an S21 Ultra, nor a 1+9 Pro! FUGGETTABOUTITT!
@@Jhihmoac Who cares? I just want something small that shoots sharp images, gets loads of software updates and is customisable with loads of custom ROMs after software support has ended.
And the S10e I have does ALL of it. It was way more expensive than those flagship killers with screens so large I couldn't even be able to use them, period. Not just one-handed, but in general.
Big and bulky phones are not my type. I like them small and petite.
@@commentarysheep - I know! I have one too! It replaced my years old, now short battery life, serious screen burn-in standard Galaxy S7, and other than the actual screen size and resolution, the S10e takes up the exact same footprint the S7 did! All of the phones I have owned in the past were no bigger than what I have now...
Great review!
Love the design on the back :0
I love the kill Bill / Bruce Lee style of that phone
wow ur review is so nice and comprehensive
Nice Video! What about the newest Meizu Phones?
Great review. We need more options in the US market versus the iWorld.
Well, for a start, you could stop banning all the iWorld competitors. Like Huawei. There can't be my spyware in those than USA is spying on the rest of the world.
Hey Michael! I just wanna say how awesome your reviews and retrospectives are in general. I always look forward to your videos and click at warp speed when YT notifies me of a new vid. Hopefully you can take a look at the Poco F3 5G soon! I've been seeing and hearing a lot of great things about it, and hope to get your take on it as well. Keep the awesome work up good sir!
I think the most underrated part of your videos are the bgm and the editing. They are awesome.
I'm honestly so jealous of the other markets with their phone options
Xiaomi and Realme are fighting each other for spec supremacy, while Apple and Samsung are eating popcorn in the background
Personally switched to Chinese brands years ago with cubot, doogee, youpu etc and finally settled with Xiaomi, it's been the best out of all while non of them were that bad though, I've got the redmi note 9 which is over a year old now so redmi note 10 seems to be calling my name tbh
I love the back design. Great looking phone and a great narrative as always Michael.
CONGRATULATIONS ON ONE MILLION SUBSCRIBERS MICHAEL! I ALWAYS KNEW YOUR PASSION WOULD KEEP YOU TIP TIER ELITE SUCCESSFUL!
Love the leather back. Apart from looking great it won't shatter like a glass back and would be so much grippy. I've been saying since the Find X2 Pro that leather needs to be much more common.
Would it last 3 years of use? Because leather can peel and crack, especially for a phone that can get quite hot when in use
@@notagain2856 Yeah that's probably the only issue, but I'm guessing the kind of synthetic leather they use actually does hold up. I'm fine with it not being proper real leather - for that matter I'm fine with plastic backs too cause they're more grippy and don't shatter when dropped.
The leather, God if ever iPhone or Samsung (again) were to do something similiar, a lot of kidneys will be in the black market.
I mean you've got to love that back design
Stryper phone!!! Great video.
I don't like my tech be that colorful, but this one looks pretty good. Nice video sir, liked as always.
MrMobile, I really enjoy more hearing your reviews rather seeing your reviews.. Your voice is awesome. And the way you review and combine music within your reviewing is really facinating. Good job. Always be mobile. Good luck
This is stunning 🤩 Reminds me of Bumblebee from Transformers ! Thematically attractive
Reminds me of Kill Bill!
The way you describe is absolutely amazing :)
Top class!!
Great review as always! Could you review the Mi 11 Ultra ?
Excellent
I remember the Marshall Phone with leather back from. 5 years ago. I wish they updated the phone.
I’m glad you bent the rule about phones not coming to US. Your opinions on phones carry a lot of weight with me and my friends. I understand not wanting to test phones without American network bands though.
Nice Gshock buddy..
Mr Mobile videos are like a mug of hot chocolate on a dark rainy day with a harry potter book on your lap
Good one ,very neutral and offcourse great shots
It's just nuts on how they were able to put all that power for that price point
Nice mention of DC dimming, using oled saver always shifts colors
Glad to see Niagara shout out
That yellow/black back-plate is gorgeous.
Are you going to do an update review of the Lenovo fold? I'd be very interested in hearing your thoughts now that you've had time to use it.
Great video, I have a Huawei P40 lite 5G
No google but there's workarounds and a few compromises, day to day though it's great, plus links to my other Huawei devices better than Apples link together
Waiting on the premier with a minute to do, and I know it's going to be great lol
Well that's interesting. I have to check availability and performances in Europe, but it could be che 5T replacement I am looking for
When half the commemts are about the quality of the review and the script, you know that it's something special
Would love to see some Xiaomi reviews in the future, they have some impressive tech. To the point that I still use them even after moving to the US
I wish we would get more Chinese brand phones in states. I feel like the only real options are Samsung and Apple. Oneplus and Pixel phones are just not holding their ground in my opinion. I feel like all the Android manufacturers have given up.
I agree. I was a long time OnePLus user (had most of them since the One+1) but last year switched to the iPhone 12 Pro when iOS 14 came out with widgets. Many of my friends have OnePlus phones (7T, 7 Pro, 8 and 8T) but I don't recommend them anymore due to the 9 Pro's price and still weak camera. One of the main reasons OnePlus competes in the US is their inclusion of all of the US 4G & 5G bands. Pixels were always crap (IMO) because of their minium RAM, over priced and they always had issues. Samsung makes great hardware but I don't like their UI and so iPhone it is for now.
@@dsat1908 As a Nexus One - Nexus 6 user then OnePlus 5-6t, there's no way I'll buy another OnePlus or a Pixel. They're both shit now. It's either Samsung S21 Ultra or iPhone for me. If I'm going to pay $1k+ then those are the only real options IMHO.
That custom cooling can come in handy when I play Genshin, my phone reaches 70°C when so much is going on, like Venti's and Ganyu's burst that shoots the temps up which then starts the lag along with so much enemies on screen, not helping that while all of the fancy effects go on, the overworld on Liyue, the biggest map in the game so far, contributes to the strain on my poor phone's SoC.
I wonder if there are other options besides cooling fans like what Realme provided here.
I haven't seen any new or recently reviewed Blu products in a long time.
Coming from a guy that has been in the phone biz since the early 2000nds, sold unlocked phones and import phones in Canada. This is a nice looking phone in a sea of phones that just look similar to each other.
Did I just see a Motorola i95cI and a BlackBerry 7520 by Nextel? Wow those were the days!!
It's all coming back around.
I'd love a review of the Mi 11 Ultra
Awesome to see a review of this phone, seriously feels like a reborn OnePlus with the specs to price ratio
About a phone that you wouldn't normally see in North America, have you thought about doing a video on the Meizu 18 Pro? Flyme OS is rarely seen outside of China and that Qualcomm gen 2 ultrasonic fingerprint seems to go at light speed, videos show it as being at capacitive fingerprint levels of speed
Awesome video, keep up the amazing work
Damn I wish I could use this phone. Looks amazing
Good review, great review, as always. You are one of the best. Perhaps leave the medical advice at the end for the pros. Good review, just didn’t appreciate the obvious advice.
Might get the charger mentioned by the end (Currently using a OnePlus 7 pro). Great when I return back to campus and for visiting my family in Mexico next month.
I think you should be a lot more phone review s that don’t come to the USA !!
I miss my one plus one with the back texture. Still have it to play videos at night! But I do miss using it everyday. Not totally happy with my one plus 6t and not a fan of the new one plus phones. I guess they have to move up. Would like to try this phone out you got there.
You need to go into more detail about what bands are necessary in the US, because my phone I got through my carrier has way fewer bands than that and works fine.
Nice one bro👍
If its available in US, please do a review of vivo X60 pro plus. 🙂
Michael’s reviews are always the highlight of my CZcams notifications.
I like it... But I don't like the smaller screen size... Do they sell a bigger one
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 review perhaps? I know it's not a new phone anymore. Would love to hear your analogies and adjectives that you'd use for that all screen design.
Poco F2 Pro and Mi 9T Pro are better choices if you want the same no notch display. The Mi Mix 3 is quite heavy and battery life is worse than the F2 Pro (5G versions)
Throws me for a loop every time I see Mr. Mobile playing my favorite game.
Niagara launcher, noice. Although Google still doesn't support launchers very well
i still want a metal back i hate glass backs i loved metal so much i want that back just cut an opening for the nfc and be done with it
Very nice killer content n videos 🤗🤗
Michael, is there a chance to do a hands-on video or a review of these two niche products in the future (Leitz Phone 1 and Sharp Aquos R6)?
They seem to be for the Japanese market only, but maybe you could get your hand on one of those two.
I love your implication that going mainstream will indeed always have its compromises
It has dragontrail glass! It's cool! Super strong!
I'm rocking a Realme 6 here in Europe, very happy, went from a Oneplus 3 and it is clear that they are very similar in the software department.
Big fan watching from india
God, this man is the epitome of class and nuance when it comes to tech reviews and I appreciate it...
I've had realme phones before. I am currently on an Oppo Find X3 Pro - got to say I am loving it! (and it's the jump from the Pixel 3a so all but camera for me is better) BUT the 65W charging is insane and I have a 120W device on the way. I have no idea why people still pay for Samsung phones - that get hot - drain fast and under perform..
Do cover some Poco phones if possible, btw love ur video style, keep it up
You are THE BEST CZcamsr on the net, but back to the point, I live in Europe where ALL phones are available so can you make more reviews on these phones with leather cover 🙂
Reminds me of my Realme X2 Pro. Still loving it. 😎
My old LG g4 had a leather back and that held up about 4ish years. Actually, I got rid of it before anything went down..sooo it might still be good today. But yeah, leather SOOOO works 👌💪
6:20 that's good - As the reverse is not true! - I have several OP chargers and car chargers in the box and even a SuperVooc car charger that just won't work on the X3 Pro
Niagara launcher is my new top favorite. I was Nova Loyalist since 2011 and now I'm a Niagara boy since 2018. Sweet elegant feel.
Michael looks like tony stark and talks like chandler 🤩😂
Please cover some 1” camera sensor phones from Japan.
That leather back has me missing my LG g4
Perhaps take a look at the Xiaomi mi 11 / 11 pro. It doesn't have all the bands but it's really cool
Hoping to see a review on the oppo find x3
In Italy they’re going to sell it for €399 on Amazon Prime Day. Moreover the company is closely related to Oppo and this device already supports Android 12 official beta releases. It’s a welcome addition in the smartphone world!
Please cover mi 11 ultra Michael. That looks like a unique phone.
I hope you can make reviews on Xiaomi, direct competitor of BBK electronics (mother unit of Realme, Oppo, Vivo and Oneplus).
I'm with you Michael. I really want leather finished (synthetic, vegan or any type). The Poco M3 has the "leather" back in their 3 colorways. I have in back in I'm in AWE.
For the charging tech, I really wish for BBK products to give us at least 18W charging if it's not their 1st party solutions. Buying cables to them is quite hard to find. Can't wait for your review and my expectations are set to be in the medium side of things
4:03 got me goosebumps.
Nothing new here, but the travel charger is slick !
