If someone asked me 10 years ago if I ever thought I'd have a deer sniffing my hand I would have thought they were crazy. This really shows that fawns learn from their mothers who and what is safe to be around.😊♥️
I wish more people could experience moments like this with wild animals. I think they would appreciate them more, I know I do. Of course if more people could, the animals wouldn't be very wild and this wouldn't be quite as special.
I Love what your Dad said, "Derek the Deer Whisperer". Absolutely ethereal moments when you were in the camera view too, reaching out your hand to Goldie. And she didn't back up in fear or any sort of negativity, but kept on happily munching. These moments of the two of you will certainly be etched in my memory bank ! 💖🦌🙏
I was never able to get Nicky to give my hand a sniff, knowing her two year old will, without fear, is very cool. It really makes me curious as to what it will be like in a couple more years. I'm sure that if I wanted to I'd eventually be able to give her a pet or scratch her ears, but I'm not sure if I want her that used to people or if it's already past that point.
I think it wise that she doesn't get "too close" for her own good. If all people were like you Derek, there would be no need to fear. By her giving you such trust as it is, really is a gift from her to you. That's only my humble thought on the matter. I'll give you my own example...put my full love & trust in someone. And it turned out to be very misplaced. I would have never believed it could happen. Your precious animals are safe with you. They show you love & trust and in those big, beating deer hearts, they know it is not misplaced. It's a beautiful thing my nature Brother. 💖

Many years ago I had a girlfriend takeoff with someone, in my car, to another state. Animals are different, it's that unconditional love that is so hard to find with people. It's also difficult to find someone who is as entertained by nature as I am, most are indifferent and get bored easily while I marvel at the hows and whys and sheer beauty around me.
I'm sorry that happened to you Derek. But just look at the person you are ! It was her loss. And YES, there are nature-loving ladies to be found !! And one who would appreciate your qualities. Animals are the Best judges of human character. They are declaring that You Are Awesome !! I know I am beautiful inside & out and you be just as confident !! I was never able to get that close to Nicky, Goldie just keeps surprising me with her trust. Her fawn is also the only one who hasn't shown any actual nervousness around me, it's more curious than anything. Goldie and her fawn even made an appearance when my friend of 40yrs and his wife visited for the last time before moving to Texas.
That is so amazing Derek! I was wondering if deer like special treats like a horse does. I can't remember the name of it but my dad would give it to the horse as a treat once in awhile but only limited amounts as they would get spunky. It was so good smelling that i wanted to eat it. It had oats and dark molasses in it with other grains. They might eat right out of your hand if you tried it. You are already touching their nose.😂😂😂😂❤
Dad mentioned the same thing, but this is usually so spontaneous that I've nothing to offer them. I need something like the bag Amy wears with a variety of treats in it. I'll have to try some strawberries, they sure liked the plant on the deck!🤣♥️

Either way it is cute to see you so close to them. I often forget that they are 100% wild animals. You make it look so easy to be with them.👍👍👍
@@critterallywithjohnernest. I wonder what it would be like if I hadn't been so persistent following Nicky around with a camera. It's only her family that doesn't run away, the rest keep their distance if they stay around at all. I'll have to try sugar cubes. I do remember feeding a peanut to one of the twins, probably Goldie, but only the one peanut as she didn't take anymore. I'm just happy she is getting to know my scent and becoming more familiar with me, it's already more than I expected from her.
