    I hadn't heard about the Bruderhoff until yesterday and at first I felt sorry for them because they don't have technological devices until I found out that they don't want them.
    Everyone looks so happy.

    I just found out about your community today and I find it brilliant! You are a combination of tradition, faith and technology. Very few communities achieve that. I think you have a lot to tell the world in times when loneliness and depression have become pandemic...I hope you could become a model for a future society if you observe carefully the world outside of your communities. I see you are opening up and that is a great step. I hope you will interact more with the "outside people" and understand their views. I myself have worked in 14 countries as an architect and project manager for commercial firms and humanitarian organisations and lived a crazy consumer life chasing meaningless pleasures. But from my experience I can tell that you people look and sound genuinely happy with your lives. RESPECT! Looking forward to visit your community...

    Yes, please comment the BBC documentary "my dark past growing up in a rural english commune". What do you think about everything the young leavers tell about abusive Leadership, public humiliation, forced seperation and so on. Or is it in your opinion untrue what they are saying? I love you guyes from the Bruderhof but i also know about a bunch of people who left and are still waiting for reconciliation and the confession of faults, made in the past. The Internet is full of it and I would like to ask you to adress that in your videos as there is so much confusion about that topic... thank you very much!

    I've been following the Bruderhof for some time and it really saddens me to see you relaxing your strong Biblical stance.
    Despite how others comment on here to justify their reading/viewing habits, ie. It's just a story of good vs evil, the Bible is explicitly clear on God's stance towards witchcraft and sorcery, not just once but on numerous occasions. It's not 'just a story', it's a deception - a subtle doorway into the occult - it most definitely is not glorifying Jesus.
    Paul exhorted women to cover their heads whilst prophesying or praying publicly and we are encouraged/commanded to pray without ceasing. I always admired the Bruderhof for holding strong in this. The Bible states women should dress modestly (not necessarily like turn of last century German peasants) so I would have thought if anything was relaxed it would be to update your dress to perhaps a maxi skirt, which is still modest, not remove your headcovering (individual choice).
    Ultimately, I know God sees our hearts and this is what's important; the internal, not the external but I do feel it's a shame to see the community becoming more and more worldly.

      I also was wondering about this. I only found out about them today. For years I thought, "Wouldn't it be great to live the Amish life, but without the strictness?" I've watched about 20 videos, very intrigued, but then I see Harry Potter in this last video of watching. It still seems intriguing to me however, and I would just avoid that personally.

    I love that you read with your children, but I became a little alarmed when you said you listened to the Harry Potter audiobooks. Do you think it's a good idea to encourage a fascination with magic, witchcraft and the occult? After all, the books became so popular that kids were begging their parents to send them to Hogwarts. So with so many great books out there for children - why did you pick those?

  • @happytraveller8953
    @happytraveller8953 Před 4 lety +11

    Respectfully, the question about Harry Potter isn't just about whether or not it is 'about sorcery and witchcraft' and is 'filth' but that these books are stories of friendship, loyalty, taking sides in the fight between good and evil, standing up for what it right, sacrifice for the common good and things bigger than yourself and redemption when you have gone down the wrong path. Isn't that what Jesus taught? I actually see these books as a type of allegory of Jesus' teaching and his life--he ran against the grain of those in power, stood His ground, taught love in the face of hate and evil and forgave those who wronged Him. You could do worse than reading Harry Potter. If you read these books and understand what truth is and how to help your fellow person or come to a new perspective on your place in the world, then these books are a treasure. Just my two cents...

      I thought I read somewhere there were actually Christian themes in the Potter series. At least I have a Catholic friend who tells me so.

    • @happytraveller8953
      @happytraveller8953 Před 4 lety +1

      @@pjmpjm1000 possibly, though Christianity doesn't have the market on human values such as love, loyalty, compassion and forgiveness. Every major religion has these themes as their standard operating principles. We as adherents just need to pay attention and live as guided.

    • @indigosky9578
      @indigosky9578 Před 3 lety +2

      But there are many wholesome stories that address these values without including witchcraft. The problem with hp books is there are no ‘good’ characters in the Biblical sense because they are all practicing witchcraft and sorcery.
      That’s very different from showing say a witch and a wholesome character and the good winning over evil like in many fairy stories. The Bible is very clear about not taking part in sorcery. If a child is drawn in by such stories they could quite easily take a wrong path out of curiosity.
      We will all differ in human opinion because as humans we are fickle. That is why it’s so important to turn to God’s word for clarification and lean not on our own understanding.

    There are many people that call the Bruderhof a cult and say that these videos are just 'slickly' created propaganda. For those people, they mostly are liberals or are ones who don't belong in community to begin with.
    However, I must say - the thing that is important to me is friendships. I also don't want to be part of a group where leadership 'controls' them or where you are being micro-managed. Can you address these two concerns?

    • @nicholaslabauve2707
      @nicholaslabauve2707 Před 4 lety +4

      I don't think you can blame the left or right, both sides have become radicalised. The world would fix itself from a community level if more people lived virtuous traditional lives. Society has turned the individual in a self-centred commodity and then polarised them to extremes. Narcissism is no longer an oddball disorder affecting a small percentage of people, it's become the baseline standard for our sickly society.
      Also in regards to the 'cult' aspect, every group will have its dissents and they are going to say far flung things to hurt the image of the group. From my research, the bruderhof are 'who they are' because they can select and control their environment to fit their ideals. That is what makes them great, that bias keeps their community intact and sustaining. If they didn't impose some regulations and discouragement of behaviours/actions/attitudes, they'd disintegrate to the folly of everyone else... and FAST.
      God bless
