- What's up internet! In this video, I demonstrate the process that I took to restore the faded and fading plastics on a 2006 Nissan Xterra. After doing my own research, I determined that the best method for me, would be to use ceramic coat. It should last around 1-2 years and was relatively inexpensive. To get the best results, it is important to make sure the surfaces are as clean as possible. I washed my Xterra, then wiped down all the plastics with isopropyl alcohol before applying the ceramic coat. Don't forget to "Like" and "Subscribe" and thank you for watching!

This convinced me to buy and try this! Love the results, my Frontier has the same issue.
Hey glad I could help! Btw you can use any ceramic coat product of your choice. I used this one because I already had it 👍
Haha, I just did this yesterday on my XTerra but with Back to black. The ceramic should last a long time!!!! I’ve used Avalon King coating on my Outlander paint. Great stuff!!!
Hey that's good to know! I didn't buy this specifically for this project. I bought it to ceramic coat my motorcycle helmet but that obviously didn't use up a lot.
@@_moes_garage_ yep, the protection on paint lasts at least 2 years! Great stuff!
@@MaximumDIYGaragehow are you liking the "back to black" how's it holding up?
Nice Vid going to buy it and do this on my Xterra
Thanks! Although I didn't buy this ceramic coat for specifically for the plastics. I bought it to coat my motorcycle helmet so it would be easier to clean 🤣
I saw Chrisfix use it on his plastics, so that's why I decided to try it on the xterra's plastics.
I have this same Xterra, except its yellow. Once I get the cats replaced, gonna try this. Awesome work and thank you!
Ohhh man the cats sucked.. make sure you get OEM and if you can, try to do it yourself. I paid $2.5k for a shop to do it 3 years ago and now the ses is randomly coming up for a p0420. Check out Ry the car guy's transmission removal video from back in the day... It will help out a ton
@@_moes_garage_ Oh dang. I found some cats from a parts guy one vid recommended. Only 500 for the set of 4. Yeh, can do it myself.
Duncan's cat package from Nissan parts puller? That's a sweet deal but Im in California so I gotta do the CARB ones
@@_moes_garage_ Hehe, yea, that's the one. Ahh, I see. That's no good.
Linseed oil is cheaper and more effective . A little goes along way.
Good to know
That came out real good, I was always wondering about it how well would it do on plastic
Thanks! But I'm not sure how long it will last. Seems like everyone that has tried to restore them, ended up painting them with bed liner 🤷♂️
Only time will tell.
@@_moes_garage_ That is very true... it was my other question in mind as to how long would it last.. ? lol
I picked up the method from one of chrisfix's videos.. he said it should last about two years but knows. I think the smooth plastics might not last as long compared to the textured ones. Seems like the textured ones might hold the ceramic better
How about on the interior Dash door panels Etc
Great question. I wouldn't use it on interior plastics. It'll feel too slick imo. But if you try it, post a video so we can see 👍
Any updates on how long it lasts?
Not yet. It's supposed to last around 1-2 years. I'll be doing a one year review later on. Right now it still looks good but I'm not sure how much it's faded since new.
1-2 years wow, that's not bad.
@@aeronasca that's the "expected life" I'm still looking to see how long it actually lasts
I used olive oil.
Damn U shoulda made a video! I would like to see that
Best bet is to get ink for it.
Probably, but I already had this stuff in my garage, so might as well use it 👍
Ink?
@butchgreene Yes, you can buy ink for vehicles plastic parts.
@mattwernecke2342 now I'm intrigued... Do U have a part number i can search?
