This sounds perfect for a boss that is is constantly in the process of disappearing from the reality that your character inhabits Like a post game boss that you activate by resurrecting the archmage
The mage that was resurrected by some necromancer or the king to fight ya again. And it is like artorias room from dark souls. Where you meet someone who must be already dead.
[SPOILER WARNING] There is a secret entry to tuba archmages lab behind a bookshelf in the brass library. This is accesible AFTER beating tuba archmage. You can only interact with it by catching the hooded brass spy three times (appears in new game+ on hard mode). These are the areas where the spy will appear: 1. Entering woodwind forest (after beating the woodwind sorceress). Enter from the south entry and a cutscene should start. The spy will flee after you reach him. 2. Keyboard catacombs (after beating the piano overseer). A cutscene plays when entering the prisoner ward for the second time. The spy will flee again after reaching him. 3. Cone mountains (after beating the cone council). A cutscene plays when beating the sled minigame with a score above 1000 points. The spy attempts to flee but breaks through the frozen cone lake. You can use your fishing rod at the broken spot and will obtain the 'spy note'. The note contains the order of books to pull for the bookshelf. The lab contains the archmages robe and wand (this equipment is really only useful if you go for a full dps mage build). However the equipment will be outclassed when entering the true route after entering the Percussion Portal. [MAJOR LORE SPOILER] However the actual interesting part is the archmages diary. It indicates some serious involvement of the archmage in financing the accordion rebellion which ultimately lead to the keyboard kingdoms downfall. He was also the person who hypnotized the Percussion Princess into murdering her own father. Yup...and guess what he also manipulated the Chello council of the String Republic to vote for the military intervention of the cone conflict. This guy single handedly destabilized half the continent for political power of his brother King Tuba II.
... i mean look at yourself, maestro you read a dead man's diary, after you murdered him, then proceeded to go kill his brother. in some endings(yes i know about those) you became one with the corrupted notes and destroyed all of orchestria and you did all of this under your own free will

@@benwhite2226 you must be new here. The Tuba Archmage theme is one of dozens of "orchestral boss fight" themes, which exist as part of a fictional video game. The community built around these songs enjoy creating lore and game mechanics to go with the songs. Think of it like the SCP Foundation but for music. And yes, several teams have worked on different video games to bring the whole thing to reality. Whether they end up being released is up to them.

The tuba arcmage rematch begins. You attack. The tuba arcmage begins charging up his send-you-“back-in-time”(where you were 5 seconds ago)attack. You attack. Tuba arcmage Accidentally releases his spell to early because you attacked him, resulting in both you and the arcmage being randomly sent throughout the multiverse, the TRUE form of the encounter revealed as more of a sequel to that part where the arcmage sends you through a cascade of boss fights from different universes.
Aaaaah... The second phase of "Doctor Tuba Archmage in the Multiverse of Madness"... What a cool boss rush, honestly! I appreciated the fact that the bosses still manage to kick their own ass. I mean, you manage to bring some guys with totally incompatible objectives with you, of course they can't collaborate correctly (small thought for Nicemadeus trying his best to be a good colleague with other bosses like Scourge Guy or Messy Glitchy. He even brought a fake parrot and a pirate hat to get closer to them!)
The archmage was holding back earlier, just so things wouldn't get too messy, but now you've pushed him too far, and his power now distorts space and time around you.
Section 1: tuba archmage: TWO Section 2: tuba archbard Section 3: artificial tuba archmage Section 4: the tuba kings bard Section 5: the vortex of combination The further sections are the corrupt combinations of several variations of the archmage.
"You've defeated the Knights, you've defeated the King, and you've defeated the Church... You might as well end it." [KILL] [SPARE] [KILL] ""You fool... Tuba, our lord empowers the Church, and empowers me. I was impressed by your skill, and thought you might have had a change of heart. But no, and our god will punish you for that. He has sent justice in the form of his wrath, and that justice is me." [The ARCHMAGE rises again, with newfound strength. The ensuing battle will be a fierce one.]
I find it really cool how the game paints the arch-mage in a hypocritical light. He was fighting for so long to cast out and abandon all non-brass but once he gets the abilities of the “all mixer” artifact in the secret ending, he starts using all of the other musics power to try to take over. Shows his true colours.
"After you defeated the archmage you try to get out but while you turn your back to get out you hear the damned sing their twisted song as the ground begins to shake and fracture, as you fall to the ground you see reality itself rip apart and see different you's but there is something off about them, upon closer inspection you see their twisted limbs and mangled faces, they would all pull out different instruments from all the kingdoms and some you've never seen before, behind you, you cannot see them but you know *he has risen to his true glory* "
An unexpected but pleasant surprise! Edit: Just realized that this may be phase 2 of this tuba archmage boss and that it distorts space and time This is awesome in a chaotic way
Pretty good boss rematch... the freeze attack is still annoying, but you'll probably have the Violin Charm at this point of the game so you can counter it rather easily this time along.
Quick tip! If you do a piano skip on the String Shores, you can get the Guitar Cloak early, which will give you a +50% damage bonus on all your string attacks. That combined with the boss's element affinity (Brass which gets countered by String) will give you a whopping 150% damage bonus.
This is my favorite boss fight in the game. It’s incredibly difficult, even for a post-endgame fight. But it’s the cinematic aspect that I love so much. After defeating the arch mage the first time, he begins descending into madness and physically splitting apart. And he will teleport out of reality in moments of instability. Then, you get glimpses of his backstory. Each time he comes back, he is more insane and more fractured. And each time he blips out of reality, his backstory changes. We begin questioning, is his memory being altered by his instability, is this even his backstory to begin with? Or perhaps this is all a lie he conjured up to justify his heinous deeds with a tragic backstory, and that this evil man may just have an ordinary backstory of no importance. Regardless, you must fight his ever maddening and chaotic being. And right at the end, his essence is put back together in a last moment of sanity before he poofs out of existence for the last time.
