I got one for you. Way back. Im talking the 70s. I worked for a steel hauler, mostly local but. I had a1959 international special built fir hauling. 16 ft bed and a small cab in the middle. Used to call it a piper cub. One day i got told by the boss to take a load of 40 ft. I beams to the sub company. Its about an hour and a half away, over several main highways and interchanges. 40 ft. On 16 ft. Bed. Anyway the beams went out on both sides of the small cab, and stuck out both ends. After chaning up and putting flags on all 4 corners, i climbed up got in thru a hatch in the roof. Had to fold the mirrors inorder load the beams. So now i have no side vision. You know the deal, work or else. I made it in 1 piece almost to groton, and my luck, the weigh station that i had never seen open was. 2 white coats came out scratching their heads. Got weighed, ok. They took a couple hours trying to find something illegal about this insanity, but finally wished me good luck. Always something new.
That stop in Danbury is where they have the academy for training the highway patrol rookies on how to break truck drivers balls.
I had a Minn dot officer actual come to my hotel room at 6 30 am to do a dot inspection on my truck. That officer was later recored by another driver calling truck drivers rapist robbers killers and thieves,and he made it a personal mission of his to make sure truckdriver were all in jail. He was fired along with 2 others for illegal activities towards truck drivers,and all three were convicted for embezzlement for fining state drivers on false violations and pocketing the money

Hey Steve 👋, I’m so happy to see your channel keep growing and growing and you keeping that go get ‘em energy in a world where it’s becoming more and more sparse. I’ve been watching ya on this journey for the last 4 years now which is crazy considering the last 4 years went by in a blink of an eye. When I found your channel I was in a hospital bed recovering from my 4th double lung surgery but was dying of boredom as it was Covid and I wasn’t allowed visitors so the only thing I had at my disposal was my phone. Dove down a rabbit hole on CZcams and somehow at some point ran into you and Orwell. Binge watched all of your content for the next 6 months to get myself up to speed and it made my recovery go by much faster. You gave me something to be entertained with during a time where I really really needed it. Can’t say I’m able to watch every video when they come out like I used to anymore as I’m finally healthy to work like a dog again 😂, however when I come back to watch a video it I become reminiscent in a good way and use you as a conduit to stay motivated no matter the hardships as that’s that getter doneee mentality. Keep on trucking and safe roads ahead,

This blend of on the road and in the workshop works well for me. So, if Lazarus gets to pull the refurbished step deck, and Orwell the RGN, then will you get another trailer for Elvira when you get around to putting her back on a frame etc with a front axle with brakes and power steering?

When you park on the exit road there, nobody will bother you if you are past the entrance to the weigh station. Park near the bridge. Ive done it for years without any hassle
You shuld get some louder horns on your truck, horn blasters is a good one or you can go with who ever you want
In 85 I rode in a brand new one. The ride felt really weird because it rides onto all airbags the cabin itself but you sat higher than any truck on the road. I believe it was a 13 speed. It was not sure the power that moved out really well.

that happens to me years ago on the n.j. turnpike after spending 10 bucks on a nasty roy Rogers burger I fell asleep to be waking up by 2 n.j troopers telling us to move on,I said I cant leave and wheres the next truck stop he said 100 miles away I leave and when to my delivery in n,y and almost smoked them out of the building, the docks where under it and I left the truck run, I idnt care at that point

That Danbury station is closed more often than not. And when they're open, they are usually just rolling you across. Huge pain when there's a long line.
I've paid big there once.
I like shutting down at Georgia and Florida weigh stations. They never bother us. The I20 east scale near Atlanta will be full of drivers shut down, but the never make you move thanks to Governor Kemps directive to allow us to shut down at all their scales.

Steve: Great videos. Over the years of watching most of your videos, I have not ever seen you checking your trailer lights after connecting the light cables. My boating trailer harness used to fail periodically. This could be more dangerous for you considering the hundreds of miles your trailer lighting actions are necessary for safe trucking. I'm sure that you do check the lights sometimes but I just haven't seen the lighting checks during your prechecks. Bill

When I drove for van pak . They were in spring field ma. Used run 84 to Hartford then 91. Those troppers never bothered you we be running 75 I n 55 and they pass us at 100.

About a month ago or so the CT DOT grabbed an oversized and overweight truck with no paperwork and no permits that decided to go past the open scales. To say the least I’m sure the fines were awfully hefty !!!

Welcome to my home state! I'm west of where you are but I know the area very well. Been retired a few years, but I'm glad the 495 on-ramp looks to be under construction. It used to be a bear to get on my slowly merging!!
The 495 pike interchangeis being transformed to clover leaf style to ease traffic slated to be finished in 2027 When finished you won’t know where you are it will change immensely

@@fsctruckingboring IF you did it repeatedly…but if you did it once and showed what you do, along with a note saying that because of the redundancy, you don’t normally show it but it’s being done.
I might even suggest that showing a trip inspection once instead of the trailer hookup/unhook which is often shown might be a way to handle it.
Just popped in and the only thing I seen that worried me is that they always busting my balls about airlines touching the deck. They want it in the air. All the damn time. They say is to prevent chafing 🤔

Your becoming the go to guy for new england. Not many loads out. Plus very few trucking companies here. Meaning not many guys coming back with loads here. Another downside is truck parking. Only few walmarts are available couple NH rest areas 93 and beverly under used
