Nice video! I like how you explained what could happen if the vocal is clipping and you have tons of effects on it as well as how you can use a compressor wrong.

Literally learned 2 new things here, 1) The better way of EQing it (using low shelf and cutting some lows), and 2) Properly compressing them (I used to add a bunch of gain everytime I compressed).. Next vid on how to make vocals sound more "full" by layering?? Kinda like Charlie Puth, making atmospheres and ambience using the vocals themselves??
don't expect stuff to just fall into your lap. make an active effort to look for singers! start with songs you know or browse youtube/tiktok/ reddit and reach out to people who's work you genuinely enjoy.
Hey there, thanks for the video. I’m looking for a little more in depth info and I went to your patreon account. On there it mentions using windows instead and I only have Abelton running on a Mac. Is it going to be a problem?
you might run into plugin issues from the project files if you're not on windows but you can get around this by making sure you've got the VST versions of plug-ins installed on your mac (instead of AU versions). in depth videos, serum presets and ableton racks will all work cross platform no problem tho
they're both just diff ways of adjusting volume eq let's you turn up or down specific parts of a sound like it's bass or high-end compression makes loud stuff quiet and quiet stuff loud combine both of these to get whatever you want sounding balanced in your over all song. hopefully this helps!

Thank you for such a great video! I was wondering if you use the same vocal clip for an octave stack, does it cause phasing problems?
if its octaved down it won't phase cuz ur changing the sound but if you're using the same clip for doubles then yeah there will be phasing

where is the gain plugin on ableton? what is the chain or template for recording tracking?
ableton's gain plugin is called utility
and most plugins have an output knob that can be used to adjust gain
