In this video, I get the Gt45 600hp capable turbo hooked up on my 1999 Ford Ranger with a 5.0 v8 swap out of a 97 Explorer. We hooked up the wastegate, Welded on the Maf sensor flange for the HPX maf sensor, installed 80lb deca injectors, put some e85 in it, swapped out 3 starters, then got our Quarterhorse tuner installed and took it for its first Test drive to see how it felt!

It sounded like your starters were constantly engaging, glad to see the right part fixed it! The Ranger looks and sounds sick, and those J3 chips are dope for tuning the factory EEC4/5 ECUs 🔥
That's got to feel so bad ass to be able to make ideas and toy projects actually cone to life instead of just thoughts and what ifs. Great series so far keep killin it...
I really like this series up until you put the turbo on the outside of the ranger. The ranger was looking cool why couldn't you put the kit under the hood? It would have been a nice sleeper! I'm out

I couldn’t care less about the truck rangers are a dime a dozen but the 5.0 swap in a ranger was cool. I liked the sleeper ranger idea since there’s not many clean Ford v8 swapped rangers driving around. A factory f150 muffler with an electric exhaust cutout after the turbo dumped out under the bed would have been stealth mode in an otherwise lowered stock looking ranger with a few small subtle hints here and there that you probably shouldn’t mess with it in a roll race. I guess I’m just getting bored of the ls swap everything mentality. But If he was going to build one for anything other than this challenge he should at least build an extended cab so he can move the seat back far enough have the extra leg room. Regular cab rangers suck for tall people and he could relocate the battery behind the passenger seat and weld in a main hoop and some door bars for the track

Use some of that jb weld putty for the manifold leak it’ll fit the rest of the build and should hold up fine till it blows up some time

only thing with the bed-frame mount for the Turbo is to have a flex pipe someplace, the bed can move with the rear suspension somewhat independent of the cab/chassis
or rubber exhaust-hanger to the tri-frame? a few options to avoid cracked welds. can't wait to see the burnouts

Use exhaust clamps on intercooler piping hard pipe and run piece of metal across coupler to clamp studs.
Please explain to me why you don’t take that 90 out of your intake and put the throttlebody in the normal fox body spot and get rid of that 180° tube you’ve got adopting it for that stupid 90 it’s driving me nuts every time I see it in the video

The 94-98 5.0 explorers had rolled steel manifolds and they are bad about cracking at the “collector”. The later models were cast about bust on the flange.
try some heat wrap on the exhaust might help a bit with lag (as well as fixing the leaks)
I think it would look cleaner if you put the throttle body straight out the intake manifold and get rid of some of the piping. Just a suggestion. 💪🏻
So I think you forgot to take the coating off of the Jake connector on the ECU there's a coating on it and use a red Scotch pad to get the coating off

The green ranger had a bit of an OEM+/sleeper sorta vibe going with the 5.0 swap, would've been cool to see the turbo placed somewhere in the bay with some logs, nevertheless it's a ripper!
I can always do that later, really just wanted to try this out and see how it worked!
What shocks me the most is that you can us a V6 Ranger ECU and run a 5.0 on the same ECU.
Might break exhaust tubing when the engine and trans flex their mounts.

interpolation, the tuning for that chip is limited to elevation adjustments for emissions compliance. isn't it? if i were to get a 2020 Kia Telluride I'd make sure to get the all wheel drive option, and look under the car to see the drive shaft connections.
apposed to a position switch, I would assume the new expansion chips have more air in the bag "barometric sensor and associated circuitry that replaces the multi position dial". same price as the old bag right, or is someone gong out of there way to find the old switches?

I would have done the V 6 dual overhead cam motor that came in the 2006 Ford 500 for the Ford Taurus they rub High and a great for Boost the same engine that the twin-turbo V6 Fords had in them same engine but this one's got a stronger bottom in I was going to do that swamp on my Ford 500 car I got into a ranger and twin-turbo it with a 10 speed from a Mustang
I had one of them tortus and my friend had a 500 thing. They would fly when you put it down. A strong bottom end and a turbo would've been sick.
I had a Taurus with that engine in it that's the reason I got my wife a ford flex with the eco boost
That's the plan I got going on I got the car low mileage and Scott perfect oppression and imma do a twin-turbo setup I'm looking for a four-cylinder chassis either Ford Ranger Rhonda mm or maybe older whatever's the lightest and that's what I'm going with this going to be a completely sleeper

Change the bed to a tub out Stepside run extremely wide tires on the back. Put a bed cover on the back so it looks stock
You should find one of those NAPA hats for sale to put on the roof and paint it up to say Motion Auto or Trevys Customs.

i know its been 2 year but for me turbo fully open too late would be cool to have a real pushing from the turbo (but i thinks is mostly becaus its new and you want to do a sort of control or break-in)
That exhaust leak is why it’s so laggy. eBay gt45 Specs are 69 comp and 77 turbine and 1.05 AR hotside. 15-18psi would be the sweet spot for making some real power on that 5.0 if your clutch and Trans could hold it, lol. On the chevy 5.3 they make 600-650whp with the right setup. See ya at Cleetus and Cars houston! I should have one of my S14’s out there.

Put a roll bar with lights on in bed. Tie in the exhaust to that.
That turbo is way too big for the engine and all the exhaust pipe going to the turbo will definitely make spool time slower. Nice build , keep up the good work
