  • In May, the Hawkeye Marching Band's ninth director, Professor Dave Woodley passed away. Professor Woodley earned two degrees from Iowa and served as drum major and graduate teaching assistant in the HMB before serving as director from 1991 to 1992. He went on to serve as director of the Indiana University Marching Hundred for nearly 30 years. Professor Woodley had a profound impact on an entire generation of marching Hawkeyes. After the Homecoming game last Saturday, our alumni joined with the current band to honor his memory in the playing of one of his iconic music arrangements. His son Darin, a member of the Marching Hundred, was with us.
Here are 500+ members of the Hawkeye Marching Band, past and present, in Dave Woodley's arrangement of "Pinball Wizard."

A fantastic tribute to Dave. We hosted Darin that weekend and I know that he really appreciated this. Thanks Dr Bush!
