  • @SurfskateLove
    @SurfskateLove Před 2 lety +3

    The challenge with the Smoothstar Thruster is that, because of the way the truck is designed, the axles sit back on the truck much further than other trucks. Which means that if you take say a Thruster and a YOW Meraki and put them on the same length deck, the Thruster will have a narrower wheelbase. So on the Thruster, you need a deck that's longer and has wider wheelbase than what you'd use on other trucks.

    Thanks for the video. Comparing the Bolsa with other Loaded decks was a brilliant idea, because it somehow puts the whole thing in perspective, I mean, people have been using Loaded decks together with Carver trucks for some time now, so my (candid) question is: does the Bolsa really bring anything new to the table?

    • @concrete-waves
      @concrete-waves  Před 2 lety +3

    I own a coyote with Paris trucks. And for me, it is just too narrow to use with surfskate trucks.
    I have a Yow Padang Padang, which is 10 inch wide, and for me- just about perfect in width.
    When you place the decks side by side the Bolsa doesn’t seem to be that much wider than the Coyote.
    The Omakase looks to be the perfect surfskate deck. Too bad is so heavy!
    Thanks guys for your great videos! You made me pull the trigger on both the Yow and Coyote. Love them both! 🙂

    • @concrete-waves
      @concrete-waves  Před 2 lety

      Yeah, you're definitely right. There's not a huge difference between the Coyote and Bolsa (mostly the width & wheelbase options). If you already have the Coyote, I don't think it makes too much sense to get a Bolsa unless you really want that extra width and don't have another surfskate deck. I agree though... it would be awesome to see a wider version (similar to the Omakase) just not as heavy. Stoked to hear that though, thanks for watching the vids!

    Today I checked out this board at my local skateshop.
    I noticed, that the front wheelflairs don't line up with the turn position of the carver cx truck. It looks like they would fit a rkp truck, but the carver cx overshoots the wheelflairs.
    To me that was a deal breaker, since it's marketed to be designed around the carver trucks.
    What's the point of wheelflairs, if they don't line up?!

    I only took up longboarding when in my 50s. I have 8 very different boards ..cruisers, drop throughs, from loaded , arbour, landyaught.. .prob too many ? Nooo ! Learnt to pump the sea fronts where I live in England and I can do it ok but still have to foot push every 50 yards at least on the flat.....but OMG...when I got this cross over cruiser surfskate .. Loaded Bolsa Carver ....it was amazing ..can now... on the flat ...pump for as long as I want without foot pushing ...I've done 20 mins easily...and could do more just dependent on your energy levels ! It's ike this infinity vibe...someone saw me and thought I had an electric board ...you just have to learn the pump action well....twist your body starting from the shoulders through the hips to the legs then feet, like a golf swing, whilst leaning on each rail alternately frontside with toes , backside with heals , carving and trying to throw your weight forward ,and slightly facing forwards too and importantly to bend knees to alternatly lift or stand up, then squat down slightly at the end of each twist. Once you get that all working together ...suddenly you have this eureka moment. It takes a while but keep with it and you'll suddenly get it all together.😊 This board.. Fab surf graphic too....both helps keep fit ..and a relaxation vibe at the same time... therapy ! Satisfied, smiling and stoked. Mitch ...Kent

    Hi, I've got a small question. How would compare the Carver C7 trucks with Yow or Smoothstar? I'm asking this because they all have the pivot arm (is that what they're even called???) in common. Which one is your choice among the 3?

      Carver is more lowkey compared to YOW or Smoothstar. Although for my riding style, I enjoy riding YOW the most. I love the deeper, springy feeling it offers.

    I've found a lot of contradicting information online when picking a surfkstate but I've narrowed it down to the Smoothstar Toledo 31.5" and Loaded Bolsa CX.
    I know they say Smoothstar is a 'better' surf trainer while Loaded's wheel wells seem to have people divided on comfort but I do love Loaded's overall board quality typically

    How does is work in a bowl or skatepark? I have a beloved Loaded Omakase with Waterborne Adapters and although fun, it's not the perfect fit for the bowl - but this looks like it might be perfect for surfskating in a skatepark or bowl! Any thoughts? Thanks!

    • @concrete-waves
      @concrete-waves  Před 2 lety

      I haven't tested it in a bowl yet but I think it would be pretty solid because it's more stable compared to the Waterborne. The Omakase deck shape seems good for bowl riding though. Is the issue that the Waterborne is too aggressive?

    • @rhondafosbinder644
      @rhondafosbinder644 Před 2 lety

      @@concrete-waves It's very tall and has so much lean (which on the street I absolutely love), and with the rear adapter on it catches on the coping (not that I'm doing any of that, but I let other more experienced skaters try it out). Aside from the coping issue it's hard for me to judge, but I don't feel as comfortable on it (yet?) because of the aggressive lean, I feel like I'm going to fall if I get up too high on the wall. Plus it's heavy and awkward. But I'm a bowl beginner, so my big purchase was the Bolsa CX. I don't love it in general, but the CX does seem to work well in the bowl, which is my immediate goal. It's hard to ignore all the naysayers, but then I show them the surfskate videos and they're like, oooohhh, maybe you CAN surfskate in the bowls! SMH Thanks for all your videos.
