    Just to let people know; the crankshaft pulley bolt is a torque-to-yield bolt and MUST BE replaced with a new bolt. These bolts are one time use only. If they are reused they will most likely fail and cause a lot of damage. This is especially true if the car is making more than stock power levels.

    Could this cause your car to jump a little as well? Basically, When my turbo starts to build boost that's when it starts jumping. I just replaced the PCV disk (Valve cover) and it fixed the spuddering. There was a squeak but not as loud until I replaced it and it didnt jump like this before I replaced it. But when I pull the dipstick out the squeaking stops. I'm really confused on what to do.

    • @Klean-Kut-LLC
      @Klean-Kut-LLC  Před 6 lety +3

      Yes, it’s a vacuum leak at the front crankshaft seal. The “chirping” is air being pulled past the seal and it goes away when you pull the dipstick because your releasing the negative pressure inside of the crankcase.
      It’s gotten worse because now the “rupture disk” in the valve cover is working properly and the crankcase is under much more vacuum so it’s pulling more air past the crankshaft seal.
      I’ll break it down, your rupture disk in the valve cover failed(most likely due to a faulty intake manifold). Since the rupture disk wasn’t working properly(regulating engine vacuum) there was excessive positive pressure building up inside of the crankcase under moderate/high engine load, that excessive positive pressure build up inside of the motor was enough to push the front crankshaft seal out of place and vent the excess crank gas through the seal. Now that the seal has been popped out of place and the rupture disk was fixed unmetered air is being pulled through that seal.

    • @RiverroseTN
      @RiverroseTN Před 6 lety

      You are a blessing. I was 30 minutes from buying a whole new turbo system. So that will cause it to jump a little too? Kinda like a misfire type feeling?

    • @Klean-Kut-LLC
      @Klean-Kut-LLC  Před 6 lety

      If it’s making that sound, do the front crankseal AND the valvecover at the Same time, don’t forget to check for the orange nipple in the top middle Port on the intake manifold if you can’t see a nipple sticking out then replace the intake manifold first and then the crankseal/valvecover.

    • @Klean-Kut-LLC
      @Klean-Kut-LLC  Před 6 lety

      Absolutely, ANY unmetered air(leak) will cause the engine to run extremely rough and experience misfires(DTC P0300).

    would that cause a P1101 code & P0171 if Air got in? I bought a new MAS censor & changed a hose , new PCV Valve (cover)...but there is oil leaking from that seal area as well...& i still getting the codes. Would oil & air leak cause the MAS sensor & lean codes ?

    • @Klean-Kut-LLC
      @Klean-Kut-LLC  Před 5 lety +1

      Yes, air leaking through can cause a lean condition Code and the oil leak is most likely because you have an air leak somewhere.
      I found the most effective way to check for air leaks is with a propane torch. Crack the valve on the torch so a little propane is coming out(DO NOT LIGHT THE TORCH) and run the nozzle all around where you expect an air leak. When you are over top of the leak the engine RPM will increase due to the propane gas being sucked in.

    • @Klean-Kut-LLC
      @Klean-Kut-LLC  Před 6 lety +3

      It’s sporadic, there’s is no pattern to it and it is very annoying. It sounds exactly like a squeaky serpentine belt but it is not the belt. Most of the time it will happen when coming to a stop from moderate/ heavy throttle driving. The next time it starts making the sound pop the hood and pull the dipstick out, if the chirp sound stops that will verify that it is the front crankshaft seal.
      If it does stop when you pull the dipstick and it is in fact the seal. Check the hole on top of the valve cover for a vacuum leak and if that is sucking air then remove the PCV hose on the top(middle) of the intake manifold, shine a flashlight in the hole and look for an orange nipple, if you can see an orange nipple sticking out then you can replace the valve cover and Front Crankshaft Seal, if there is no orange nipple in the hole on top of the manifold then you should start by replacing the intake manifold, valve cover and the front crankshaft seal.
      Hope I could help.

    • @Klean-Kut-LLC

      It should, when you pull the dipstick your relieving any kind of positive or negative pressure inside of the crankcase. If it does stop that’s indication that the sound is coming from the crank seal and also indication that there is a malfunction somewhere throughout your PCV system.

    • @Klean-Kut-LLC
      @Klean-Kut-LLC  Před 5 lety +1

      Front Crankshaft seal. Our engines pull anywhere from 18-22 inches of vacuum at idle. It can still chirp even when the dipstick is pulled out.

  • @spice4lyf799
    @spice4lyf799 Před 5 lety +1

    It sucks air in not push air out due to the high vacuum the engine creates that causes the squeaking chirping noise.

    • @Klean-Kut-LLC
      @Klean-Kut-LLC  Před 5 lety +2

      Yes but in order for the oil seal to allow air to be sucked passed it(engine under vacuum), it had to have had an excessive amount of positive pressure at one point or another in the crankcase(orange check valve inside intake manifold sticking). When that check valve sticks in the open position(as if the engine was idling) and you start making boost all that positive pressure is forced back into the crankcase through that little hole that the check valve is supposed to be closing. Now that you’ve pressurized the crankcase to at least 16PSI(even higher for those of us that are tuned) and the oil seal has been unseated due to the excess pressure when you come back down to an idle and that19-22 inches of vacuum is applied to the back side of the seal it sucks air right by it.
      I can’t remember what I said in the video but yes I know the chirp is air being pulled past the seal, just wanted to explain how it gets to that point.
