Tennis players can be quite disrespectful… from smashing rackets to hitting umpires in the eye, they can go way too far.
However, another very disrespectful act players often do, is giving up on a match before it is over when they are not ill or injured, which is commonly referred to as ‘tanking’,
Tanking is not only against the spirit of the game but there are clear rules against it in both the ATP and WTA.
In this video we’re taking a look at some of the worst tanks this sport has ever seen.

It's the paying fans who get short-changed the most. However, it's also highly disrespectful to their opponents who are denied the opportunity to celebrate a legitimate win.

Higher penalty for sure, some upcoming player couldve taken their spot and actually tried to make something out of it
Monfils and his numerous fake injuries. Justice that he has won nothing above 500 level.
I remember Opelka tanked against Ruud(iirc) in the second set. Even the umpire warned him about that. my friend made a lot of money that day since he basically was betting against Opelka's serve games and it was about 5--6 odds for serve to be broken lol!
Make the penalty so high they either play right or retire.

I think it’s a challenging issue. If a rule is enforced where players forfeit points and/or money from a tournament they tank in; then equally more needs to be done to support players in making reasonable decisions for the benefit of their mental health. It’s easy to see in the Kyrgios example in this video that he was really suffering mentally. So I would only like to see a rule like this enforced if it was because the player is lazy and/or refused all support and help prior to the match, rather than them tanking because it’s the only thing that they can do in their personal circumstances.
