One of my all time favourites! My mom and dad even named me after Gerry's little sister in the movie

A great movie and terrible injustice. A good review and I'm glad you mentioned the 'biographic' discrepancies between what actually happened and the film.
RIP Gerry Conlon, Paul Hill, Paddy Armstrong, Carole Richardson.

This was a film based on a British/Irish situation that was made for an international audience.
Good though it is, there were some great British-made TV dramas made about The Troubles, aimed primarily at a domestic audience: Harry's Game, for instance, is a great drama that was first shown on TV in 1982 and is available to watch on CZcams.

The film let the Police off pretty lightly, but then their more depraved behaviour probably couldn't be shown in the cinema, even today.

If you look it up the police and the court in the uk can rule that a media is displaying act that could harm the course of justice and destroy it if they don’t like it, the uk is a joke when it comes to human rights and why they are trying to leave the ECHR atm. The government and those in power like there positions and don’t want to lose it so reducing the depiction and removing the involvement elected mp’s was probably a conscious effort to avoid problems with the British government.

As a movie plot one might mistake it as being a bit far fetched, which makes it even more surreal, because it's real. Edit: Apart from being a cellmate of his dad, I mean 'as if' and other things you mentioned but the factual story itself is bizarre enough.

The actor who played the real IRA was absolutely fantastic

I read Paul and Gerry’s book and the movie is very inaccurate 😢

This is the most scariest situation anyone can be in, to live in prison and be in the judicial system.
