Ragi appam recipe in tamil/ no yeast healthy breakfast- appam/Finger Millet Appam recipes
Ingredients:
2 cups ragi flour
2 cups water - add more if needed to make a runny batter
3/4 cup grated coconut
3/4 cup cooked rice
1 tsp salt
2 tbs sugar
1/4 tsp baking soda - optional
For instant appam- add 1 tsp dry yeast - (will ferment within 30 -60 min)
Hi Akka - I never knew we could make aapam with ragi!!! This recipe is bomb. I couldn't wait to make it. I tried this one, half the quantity immediately using instant yeast. I have the remaining half resting for my breakfast!!! Thank you so much for sharing!!! 🤗🤗🤗🤗
Thank you so much ma,,, for instant appam with yeast -skip baking soda but for fermented version add Baking soda just before making appam,, you ll get nice lace like borders with spongy center!! Thank you once again for trusting and trying out my recipes ma,,😍

@@prathysamayal yes I tried with yeast version, with in one and half hours itself the batter began to raise and spilled. But it was good.
Thanks for the feedback ma,, depending on the room temperature,, fermentation time varies-for me here in California it takes minimum 2 hrs

Hi...i tried it today but it sticks to the pan, don't know what went wrong
Is it a non-Stick pan or iron pan,, ,,iron pan might need more seasonings and grease it slightly after each appamhope this helps !!
Also another alternate is - try it on a Dosa tawa ,, ( like oothappam) for reference watch the last half of my recent wheat flour appam video)

Yes ma,, you can use poha,, soak 1/2 cup poha for 10 min and then grind it along with other ingredients

Mam can you please clarify my doubts? For ragi appam how much of yeast should I need to use? Will coconut make the batter perish?
Add 1 tsp yeast and let it ferment for 2 hours - appam Tastes good if it has a sour taste-so let it ferment for 2 hrs or until it gets a mild sour taste-
Coconut will not perish instead it helps in fermentation- you can store the left over batter for max 48 hrs -

Sister this week i do two times in rice aati idiyappam seithom. But it's very hard. It' do like rubber aappam. The same method only i doing. The first time I only add rice sugar salt coconut. After mixing after ten hours ago I do aappam. But it's very hard.
The second time same method following. But i extra add East. That time also it's come hard. What is mistake i don't know.
It's native is tuticorin. My appa do aappam very well. But it's now now come safely. My daddy pass away ten years ago. So please u give correct solutions.
