Ok Human is the best thing Weezer has done since the 90’s or early 2000’s (and I actually like their new music too, that album is just THAT good). Maybe they should use radiohead as an influence more often!

"Whats THAARRR"- The nerdy sounding dude from weezer
Pretty sure it's what's that
In the album booklet the lyric is written as "what's that", not what's there. And you can kind of hear Thom Yorke singing "that" actually, he just pronounced words strangely sometimes. Actually I think it would have been a bit lame if weezer/Rrivers pronounced everything the exact same..it's already weirdly close to being a carbon copy instrumentally. Weezer are good enough to put their own spin on it but this is more like straight up bootlicking

+jordan blakeley the fact that you say weezer is more versatile is down right wrong. Weezer has been like the same genre all throughout their career. Radiohead has experimented with tons of different genres resulting in critically acclaimed masterpieces.
The point of a cover is not necessarily to sound like the original band...This is Weezer's take and it's great.

Anyone bashing this is totally nuts. I seriously didn't think anyone could ever do such a just cover to such a brilliant song. What?! Seriously, go Weezer. This is insane.
Santana Storms Not if the vocals are significantly off putting and poor.
Joseph Lee Radiohead will always be my favorite band, and Thom's writing is absolutely unparalleled. But honestly, Rivers pitch here is nearly indistinguishable from being completely perfect, which is something that can rarely be said about Thom in a live setting. That being said, both times I've been fortunate enough to see Radiohead live have been two of the most spectacular and life changing nights of my life.
But it's okay for other musicians to do an excellent job, especially if they're paying tribute, and having a great time doing it.
+Joseph Lee Obviously Rivers and Weezer respect Radiohead, or they would not have covered their song, I think.
Rivers put plenty of "soul" into his singing, it's just that he has a vocal style that perhaps fits Weezer songs best. Radiohead has a very different sound, and you think it doesn't mesh well with River's vocals. Great. Cool. End of story, no need to bash it.
Rivers and Weezer wouldn't be as well known as they are if he didn't put tons of energy and passion into his creative projects.
+Ronan RiemanJohns Yeah man, just one's man's opinion here nothing more.I just felt very strongly about it. I respect your opinion and anything radio-head is to be celebrated I suppose.
Why don't you remember my name? When I am King you'll be the first against the wall...
Dudes it's a cover not a note for note imitation!
I would have been dissapointed if Cuomo decided to change his singing to sound like Thom Yorke, and the same goes for the rest of the band.
If you want it to be just like the original, then go listen to the original
right on!!
it's literally a note for note imitation with a different vocalist and guitar solo
I'm all for covers that change the style of the song, but I am a firm believer that besides live music a cover should add something new for listeners to digest. This cover adds nothing but a worse vocal performance, and a more raw production. It's a decent cover don't get me wrong, but it's novelty ends at "I love Radiohead and I kinda like Weaser so that's cool I guess".
Than why is it so unoriginal cover? It is exactly the same as Radiohead's.
I agree. I don’t see the point of even listening to a cover that sounds even nearly identical to the original. In my opinion the excitement of a cover from a professional group of another is that they add their own unique style. Go listen to System of a Down’s cover of Snowblind by Black Sabbath. It’s an entirely different song
Fantastic cover. You can even hear the lyrics now!
This is excellent
I don't see what the fuss is about, I'm a Radiohead fan and a huge Weezer fan. I think this song sounds awesome. They add their twist to the song and thats the beauty of a cover.
I think it’s a badass cover that not many bands would even attempt
EXACTLY! -
Like I enjoyed it a lot too, but the "twist" is really that you can't imitate the effects of Thoms voice and Jonny's guitar. Even when playing it with no personal style or interpretation
There's no twist. It's a straight up bar style cover by lesser musicians struggling to play the song.
