    But GoDaddy owns the domain I want!

    This company is money crazy... Paying before the domain is secured and even making it appear that the domain name is the price of the service.

    Brokers typically get a percentage from the sale price, so while they're incentivized to close the deal, they're incentivized to get you pay the most. I think this is worth mentioning.

    I purchased a domain broker service from you guys on accident thinking it was the domain. How do I get a refund?

    Sadly I made up a name for a business I wanted to start about 2-3 years ago and made pages etc but never got the domain even at the time it wasn’t taken when I checked now that I’m trying to get up and running.... someone has the name and isn’t even using it 🤦🏽‍♀️

      Same happened to me! Try to get a broker through Godaddy who would be able to contact the seller and sell the domain to you. I tried with Sedo but unfortunately, the broker could not be able to contact the owner of the domain due to privacy settings on the domain.

      I got one of the domains I wanted through GoDaddy and they were able to identify the (.com) owner for my domain. However, the person was very reluctant to sell despite the domain not being in use. The person was arrogant enough to demand over 7 figures for the domain.
      Overall, Godaddy broker service is pretty expensive. I paid £89.99 ($125) alone for the Broker service, then the offer, then I had to pay 20% of my offer in commission to Godaddy. Since I live in the UK as well, I had to pay another 20% for tax (VAT). However, their domain broker service is far better than Sedo.
      Nevertheless, you could do this all by yourself by searching for the domain owner of any website by utilising "WHOIS" to identify the registrar's details.

    I have a domain name registered through namebright .. I just used estibot to see if I can find my information there .. I was surprised to see that estibot says that my domain name is for sale !!! how is that possible when I already own it?? anyone knows?? I mean I paid for it for the next few years!

  • @GregCoxTV
    @GregCoxTV Před 4 lety +5

    Very good information. I have used domain brokers successfully before - but I have a hard time understanding why I have to pay a broker just to find out if a domain might be for sale. I'm glad real estate does not work that way. I would also question the need to have your domain name contain your key words. If that were true then Amazon would be for rivers, and Godaddy would be for dads.

    • @TrezCast
      @TrezCast Před 4 lety

      Except in real estate you're not actually looking for a place that someone already owns/lives in, you're looking at empty houses aren't you

      As he explains in the video, you don't have hire a broker at all. He gives you all the steps if you're willing and have the time to do all the work yourself. A broker is a good idea, however, if you'd rather focus on running your business. Just as in real estate transaction, a broker or agent can help.

    • @GregCoxTV
      @GregCoxTV Před 2 lety

      @@TrezCast - As a licensed real estate agent in Ilinois I can say you are misinformed. I would frequently take buyer-clients to homes that were occupied. And then there is that For-Sale-By-Owner business that avoid brokers. In the early days of the Internet it was as simple as doing a Whois search to discover the domain owner. Now ... I usually see ads for domain brokers instead.

    How long does it take to sell a domain on your market place that’s worth about $1000 from your appraisal tool?

    • @GoDaddy
      @GoDaddy  Před 3 lety

      There are a lot of variables involved in the selling of a domain, so we wouldn't be able to provide any type of guess as to how long it would take to sell any particular domain. We'd recommend checking out some of the domain auctions online and watching the process unfold through a few sales. That might give you a better idea of what to expect. Good luck!
