My canoe transome is a pain in the ass for boarding and swimming. I plan to get an open transome design next.
Yeah they can be rough man, I won't even go on them as I don't like pretending I'm a gymnastics specialist
Nah, we just lean the canoe over and we be swimming.
"Sailing Beaver" also have a Oceanis 40 in a different layout than Ryan and Sophie sailing
These are nice, but I think a little more room is necessary. Thanks again Chris, keep us updated and informed. Cheers 🥂
Those modern french interior designs are really nice, and that removable bulkhead. Voila a floating modern apartment...
The one passover dronefootagelookslike" the dogs " in BVI. Bene Oceanis 40 is a beauty, not where I'm at today/ could be tomorrow!!! Newer vessels are AMAZING inside, glad you show them here
I prefer them, although can't afford one currently , hopefully some day
Love your channel. Thank you
Thanks James
I like your video, learn a lot! You talk a several time for Atlantic crossing but does it mean crossing pacific ocean? Merci beaucoup!
Appreciate the content. Here for the algorithm. Thanks again 👍
Thank you
Love the videos and the information you put out there! Has had a major impact on the vessels I am looking at age wise and design of the tail. I do have two questions about boats in your area. First, couple of months/weeks ago you posted a video about some charter companies losing their permits due to failed/not done maintenance records, is that something to worry about when looking at vessels down south? Second, how can you identify a charter vessel from the rest on yacht world?? I can't seem to tell them apart... or does it matter even. Anyway, love the channel and come home looking for new posts daily!!!
If out of the charter company you will know as they are listed from a charter service such as moorings brokerage, the vessels that got fined were for lack of permits and licensing for charter is all. Thanks for watching , any questions just ask away and I'll do my best to answer
Thank you! Is the ride on the Oceanus 35 good and is the Oceanus 40 offering a comparable ride? Would be optimal to find a hull shape that doesn't slap so much and is less apt to turn into a pendulum. Please consider rating the vessels you review for "ride" with your own scale. I'd trust that if it's a 10, the ride is going to be excellent.
Love the interior of the newer boats I wonder however if the sea-keeping is at all compromised?
Someone below mentioned slapping, ive heard several reports of people with brand new Aluminium French boats that look awesome but the owners cant stand them because of the slapping, what a shame, do these modern style glass boats of similar hull form suffer the same issues?
Besides the obvious design advances found on newer boats, you might want to talk about modern mfg processes as well.
The layout, infusion, vacuum and assembly procedures being used today enable precise, controlled strength, fit & finish.
This is true of course for IP, PSC and others. While one can debate designs, all modern boats take advantage of the most advanced building tech.
I do like the hunter 36/38 2 cabin layout think it could fit my family of 4 2 kids under 9. I know load baring aside but the dual aft cabin option how hard would it be to convert it to a master aft cabin?
I love that jeanneau! I want. I'll prob be buying one next year. I want
Me too
Wow!! I was looking at double-keel sailboats (for beaching occasionally), and at the 3:36 minute mark, I see a Jeanneau 375 that is on the beach! (really low tide... is this unusual, or it is designed to be this way at any time?
Sailing and shenanigans,Oh my .
I like your videos. I've learned some new things I hadn't thought about. The biggest being the 5 foot rule. It makes a lot of sense. I also decided to not go older then 2000 for the same reasons you give. I will be retiring soon and I don't want to spend a lot of time fixing up the boat. I have a budget of $80,000 and I would like mono hull in the 38 to 40 range. I want to add some amenities like a water maker, A/C and Lithium batteries. My wife and I don't want to feel like we're always camping. I know this is very generic but I would like to hear your suggestions.
Awesome, sounds like a good plan and easily accomplished. I'd suggest becoming a producer or joining Patreon as that way we can chit chat often and I can help you every step of the way
best to budget them as separate outside of the a/c lithium are expensive but have a 10 year+ lifespan.
Love the video as usual. Your 3rd boat in this line had several mistakes which is unusual for you. Are you doing/feeling ok?
Some times I don't catch mistakes with putting out a video every day, sorry about that.
@@ChasingLatitudes I rarely if ever see or hear mistakes from you. The fact the title of the boat was wrong and then the reverse order of the numbers made me concerned. I'm not knocking you for mistakes I was concerned something was wrong with you or that your dad was having issues that you distracted. This comment was truly from a concerned viewer/live stream chatting type friend.
I need to know the best solo sailing yacht, monohull, and catamaran, small to large.
What do you own now?
Which chartering companies are best to buy boats from?
Really depends on the vessel as several are privately owned vessels through a broker even though they are in charter still
😃👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
You need to put in some kind of differentiator between monohull vids, catamaran vids, & mixed vids.
Catamaran videos always say catamaran, multi vessel vids always say used market, and specific manufacturer vids always say the name
@@ChasingLatitudes
I'm familiarizing myself w the cat market, but there were none here. Downer, dude.
@@theTeslaFalcon none what ?
@@ChasingLatitudes
This vid had no cats. All monohulls.
@@theTeslaFalcon yeah I don't do many cat videos and if I do them they are dedicated cat videos and it will say it in the title.
So, I was being slightly contrarian- looking for a Hunter 41 AC/DS to do a circumnavigation (someone has to fix the brand's reputation-might as well be me). But, a local boat, originally overpriced- market forces- just got surveyed & it was a dumpster fire. Yah, 4 huge delams, 1 rear wet & delam bulkhead & a large deck void (someone left out a polyester sheet between layups)- not something a 'little fiberglass work' will fix. So, now I'm a lil gun shy about the QC on my preferred brand... Oh well, other 'production' manufacturers made other boats- the world is my Oyster (not that I can afford an Oyster!) Still hating the 'producer' concept & sales pitch, but- agree on a few things as well.
Bummer about the hunter, what year was it ? The producer is simply a consult with a years access to the members area, I'm on the members area daily so any help anyone needs with finding a vessel I'm always there, seems like a good deal to me at a 100, some people apparently don't see the value, you can lead a horse to water and we'll, you know the rest
@@ChasingLatitudes 08 H41 DS in Fairhaven, MA. Listed @ $129.9K, now $99.9k. CREDIT to broker/owner for posting up marine survey results. Too few will 'tell the truth' & just hope that someone will miss something. I wish I had more confidence in glass- it's too much to trust yourself when there's so much needed.
6:08 you have the wrong name label on the top left corner.
Also, there is nothing linked in the description.
Shoot, thanks
