It probably sounds weird, but when I hear these lyrics I cant help but think about how I've lost my younger self. Almost like the childish innocent version of me is dead. I miss them. I miss being them and loving everything about the world.

I have had them dark days just with my depression. The only thing that's kept me from ending it many times is my little girl that I know I need as much as she needs me. Them days feel like you've lost everyone you love and that the pain will never end. I'm lucky to have not lost anyone since I was a child but depression has shown me so many times how that may hurt, idk if I could handle actually losing a loved one and I fear for that day.

He stated that he wrote the song when his sister-in-law Alisha Dawn Reynolds died two years ago because of lymphoma. He stated that she was his best friend and he will always love her.
I went to High School with Alisha. She was Class President while I was vice President. The amount of genuinely and uniquely kind things that poured out of her mouth on a daily basis would astound you. Everything Dan said in his tribute is true.

I just found this song in October 2021. My Mom just died Dec 2. About 2 weeks ago. It rained non-stop for 2 days after she passed.
Only amateur music listeners would not have the depth to understand...Just how much a song created by someone you don't know, and has been through pain like your own, could sing and create and have the ability to put you through a plethora of emotions that you can't even explain to yourself. They don't understand how bad I need to hear this right now to just survive another day without being able to EVER see..."My loved one."

Death can't define life, Life has its own spectrum, it's beautiful, we lose our close ones regardless of time, place..... And our hearts ache but this gives a chance to recall the beautiful life we spent with that beautiful near and dear ones,

This song is pretty clearly about losing a loved one,,, but sometimes I listen to it and I hear it as an introspective missing. There are times you miss yourself, you miss the joy you felt and the person you were and now all you can feel is the numbness, the disappointment, the hurt and sadness.

This song was on radio, when I was moving away from home to study at a university in another country. Now, whenever I hear it, it always brings back the emotions and even though I am not a very emotional person, I always start sobbing. This song reminds of my dad who left us 2 years ago. I couldn't hold my tears when I listen to it. It tells how I feel and everything I would wish for. I never learnt how to manage the pain and make sense out of the accident. But this song comforted me because I feel I am understood.

Imagine Dragons is my 10yr old grandson's favorite band. Today was the first time we heard this song. I had to keep it together in front of my grandkids today. 2 yrs ago this Halloween our sister passed away. Nothing has been the same since she left this rock. Such a great song.

But to say musically implies objectiveness, and as much as I like these guys there are plenty of bands with as much and more technical skill. But of course this is all subjective so if you think they are special than they can be.
My dad was a huge fan of imagine dragons. Their songs really inspired him and kept pushing him through all of his pain. Sadly the pain was too much and he ended his life two years ago. I know its been a while but it feels like it was just yesterday. This song, birds, and honestly all of imagine dragons songs I feel are signs from him telling me that he is watching over me. Thank you imagine dragons for making such amazing and heartfelt music that even my dad in the afterlife thinks is amazing.

I listen to this song and remember all who have moved on. My dog, who was my guardian Angel as a littel kid as I walked through forests and hills. My cat, who always seemed grouchy but was always the first there if I seemed remotely sad. My Uncle, who told me old wars stories as a kid. I didn't know back then that I would serve the military like he did. My grandfather's on both my parents side. From my dad's, a Joyous and humorous man who's life motto was never give up. From my mom's, an old and spiritual man who always taught valuable lessons and would still have the attitude to whoop you in shape even in his 90s. Despite these two men speaking two seperate langauges, I remeber seeing their friendship overcome their seperate cultures and languages and to go on until they passed. My grandmother, who, just like her husband, was not afraid to say what's what and one of the bravest women I have ever known. An old high school friend, who I remember being happy and funny, an overall goof ball who enjoyed life but passed far too young. I remember all of them, I cry for all of them. And I hope that I could one day make them proud so that I can see them smile at the gates of Heaven when my time to join them has come
i havent lost anyone in life. except myself. this song makes me feel completely different to any other songs. it helps me calm down, have a break, and forget about all the bad things and just let my mind flow. i cannot express how much imagine dragons has impacted my life. they have literally saved my life on multiple occasions. dan, wayne, platz, ben, you guys are all such inspirations to me.

We lost a great woman that raised my wife to brain cancer recently. She died so much younger than our family was ready for. This song hits me hard in that soft spot I've been holding on to when I think about her. You will be so greatly missed. And though I am a wreck this song helps me better resonate and cope with what I'm feeling.

This song makes me think about my dad that passed away in a car accident about 4 months ago. Throughout high school I was a 4.0 student and he passed in the middle of my senior year. That last semester of high school I just felt like a wreck, I still finished high school with a 4.0, but it’s been very hard and this song just puts it into words.

I lost mine about 2 months ago, and learned that one of my old friends older siblings lost their life a couple weeks after my dad.
