A day of plant care mounting a staghorn fern, repotting with Chris and my assistant Theo, and making a drainage hole. I'm showing you guys my method of mounting staghorn ferns and teaching Chris some plant basics. He's going to start taking care of some plants by himself... let's see how that goes haha.

I love to see your little family working together to create this beautiful home. Theo included.
Please, please do an episode on platycerium!! So awesome of you to show a tutorial on mounting one onto cork board too. This video is inspiring me to consider doing some as my next plant project.
It's amazing how much of a collection of plants ou have and how knowledgeable you are about them, at such a young age🥰. God bless you Benji, keep coming up with these wonderful videos in your absolutely beautiful voice. Lots of love
🥲 "So she has a place to rest her weary stem" So freakin cute 20:00
Love this video! I wanted to say you don’t have to break the pot- you can use a bread knife and cut at the edge of the pot and the roots and it’ll separate the roots from the pot and it has such a large root mass it won’t damage the plant that much- especially for such an established plant. Just like you would with a bonsai
He could be a ASMRIST with his voice and relaxing care ✨
Seeing Chris in a moomin shrit as a finnish viewer makes me so happy!!💕
I'm Vietnamese and I've known you for 4 months. First, I like your voice, and then I like your lifestyle when I watch your videos. of course i also love Theo
Please make a series with just Chris doing plant stuff and caring for all of his pileas
You and Chris are so cute and your energy is the sweetest! Thank you for creating the most peaceful plant space on the internet. ❤️

Actually the best youtuber! So calming and chill! Thank you for making youtube a better place!
I just love watching your videos…you have the most soothing voice and your energy is always beautiful! Thanks for the great content! 🌱🪴💕
The vibes are always immaculate
the info and demo on how to mount a staghorn from its original pot is extremely helpful, i have been searching online a lot for this since i have one growing on a shallow terracotta pot and it has been putting out really aggressive shield fronds and i need to mount it very soon!
Watching your videos is so calming just your vibe is great. I am just happy after watching your videos. I have been watching your videos and i have learnt so much about house plants. Thank you benji much love from Malaysia
Enjoyed watching this. It's so relaxing and peaceful watching your videos. And every time I see your video I get inspired 🤗💚
Woah, you such a good designer! I like to watch how you make your place and stuff look natural and beautiful
I was just considering my first staghorn fern. Great video as always, very informative, all your plants look healthy and beautiful !!
Also, I love Chris' "the moomins" shirt
Love the stag horn plants all your plants are looking healthy, beautiful !!!
This is soo relaxing and benji voice for some reason is soothing i want to take nap now lol great video Benji like always 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I love your wall with staghorn fern, you are decorating home like I wanted to^^
I went onto youtube specifically to check if you posted today! It's such a nice Sunday night treat to watch it here (Hi from South Africa and my different time zone!)
This mounting instruction was very helpful and encouraging . Your method was something I could manage in my small apartment . Today I rescued my neglected staghorn that was left outside to fend for itself through lots of rain and direct sun. I’m going to grow it indoors under a grow light with much better care. I think I’ll start it off in a new orchid pot for now , while I look for cork to mount others on . I was really impressed with your collection 👍🏻
would love more videos about Platycerium!!!!! Always wanted to try one out and seeing their potential is so encouraging
It always make me feel relaxed when I watch your videos
Also you guys are soooooo cute together and chris pronouncing the name is adorable
I slide a Wilton angled icing spatula (which is about 12" in length) along the entire inside edge of any plant pot to release the roots and soil. Then I lay the pot on its side and gently wiggle the plant out. It always works ;)
Found it at Dollar Tree too!
Epiphytes are so interesting! I first learned about staghorn from a show Martha Stewart did where she re-mounted some MASSIVE staghorns.
I love your videos Benji🌿💜🌿💜🌿 Bless you & Chis & Theo🙏🏽😘😘😘
I just gotta say that I love your sweater and your style overall. For each of your videos, I end up spending at least a few seconds admiring what you're wearing 🥰😅
That pilea😍😍😍😍 I’ve finally learned how to keep mine happy, yours is goalssss!!!
I love your videos!! Love Love all your plants!! Beautiful and Healthy too!! Thanks for sharing!
Good video and Chris you did a good job! 👏👏👏👏
The silk tree flowers are sooo pretty!
i recently got a staghornfern myself because i absolutely love yours. this week i talkt to my best friend about how you should do a video on mounting them as i have no idea how to do that^^ also: very nice sweater!
I was just at the Huntington Library yesterday telling my mom about your channel! She was so in awe of the mounted Staghorn ferns and I was like "you need to check out BenjiPlant!" 🤩
Super impressed that Chris said "peperomioides" so well 🙌🏽
The Platycerium elephantotis in the greenhouse conservatory are amazing!! Also me too lol, but don't be too impressed, he called an Alocasia frydek and "Alopecia frydek" and a couple months ago hahaha
Good job benji and Chris!!!
I use a long bread slicing knife and run it along the inside of the pot between the pot and dirt whenever I need to remove a plant from terra cotta. Works like a dream.
Hi from Adelaide, Australia. I came across your channel (now a subscriber) and watched you and your Dad going to Vietnam - loved it and so went searching for more videos. I enjoyed this one as I too have a Chinese money plant which was doing as good as Chris's (although you were maintaining it) but I don't know what happened and it started loosing petals. Thinking that it had root rot, I re-potted it and now it is a skeleton of it's former self but it has now produced several little new leaves/petals - not sure what to call them, so that's encouraging. Also I think Theo is a gorgeous fur baby. So thank you Benji (and Chris) for a great video !!
I have been waiting for a benji video
Thanks for the informative video, Benji.
A dollar store stainless steel icing spatula is handy for removing plants from smallish clay pots. Just encircle the inside edge of the pot to free the attached roots and push a short wooden dowel or similar tool through the bottom drainage hole to release the rootball. 😸✌️
I love the good vibes you give in your videos, it's really inspiring, thanks to that I was able to start my little garden.
I use a large knife to cut round the edge of the root ball when plants have adhered themselves to terracotta, and then ease them out. That way, you have to smash a lot less pots. Lovely video of your plant chores! :)
Wow what a cool staghorn fern, I like the color and fuzziness. Yay Chris potted his plant, good job! I really don’t like repotting haha, but it does need to be done. Yeah it’s been crazy windy up here in SF too, luckily my cacti haven’t blown away :P.
I love your videos. So informative and your voice is soothing.
love your videos and also your voice ! keep your good work , Benji . Tks
I love everything you do on social media keep it up
Hi Benji! If you run a butter knife or other thin but sturdy thing along the inside of the pot, you can get the plamt and soil out w/out breaking the pot.
Well done Chris!
Perfect timing!😍
This light blue long sleeve looks so nice on you!
Right looks really pretty!
Love you guys 😁😍 so much fun and awesome vibes
This is the most relaxing place on youtube
when i make mounts i usually map out the general size of my moss ball and make 5-7 holes all around it and feed my fishing line through and all around the ball with a tooth pick taped to the end. kinda like sewing! i feel like that makes for a pretty seamless look and uses less material! i use less fishing line when i do it and it’s also really easy to pull one end and get it really tight. + all the string goes to the back, u should try it sometime benji!! :))
thank you! I don't really like how much string I end up using, but when I do eventually remove the string I reuse it for something else. I'll try out your method, although I often need visuals to help guide me, especially when it comes to things like sewing haha
I like to use some sort of string because it does break down. The plant should eventually attach to the woodso you don't need fishing line
Love you guys 😁 all the way from New Zealand 🇳🇿
Enjoyed every second of the video 💚
Woww your Staghorn looks just like HIGE and ME's mounting too! It looks wonderful Benji 😍
I love Hige and Me! Their videos are so beautiful. They make me want to visit Japan so bad
Love my staghorn.
Love and gratitude ☘️☘️☘️☘️
Stag horns/platycerium are very popular in Florida . People grow them every where in central and south Florida and sell them for lots of money for the big ones .
Benji perfect timing on the mounting a staghorn fern I just got my supplies in this weekend and doing this today.😝 this season I decided to limit my plant purchase, getting crazy expensive and focus on my plant set up and light.
Where did you get the cork bark to mount the fern on?
@@nataleighherring3079 Amazon
Just to chime in, I've purchased my cork bark from Josh's frogs. Another good source would be Etsy or other online reptile/amphibian stores. It's likely cheaper than Amazon and you might be able to choose the specific piece you want with dimensions!
great I liked the stag horn.... and i just bought one online... it will be here in a week.
i would love a dedicated video to platycerium 😁, it's such a good idea 🙏
We have a lot of Staghorns in Florida usually hanging or attached to big oak trees they get massive here
when I visited Florida recently I saw huge mounted staghorns! They grow so well with the heat and humidity over there
perfect timing! I just got a stag horn from my grandmas
Just today i was thinking of buying a staghorn fern, but did not like the material on how to do it and I was thinking to myself it'd be so much easier and nicer if Benji made a video on this exact subject.
You should catch the drippings from rinsing and reuse them for watering - to save water :)
Yeah my sisters Friend's mom had a mounted fern that was really big and I was like ooo😍 I like your moms plant she was like what haha I've never seen them over here just online
so wholesome
Yay, staghorns! I’ve been wanting to mount mine, but I’m not sure I how to w/o visuals. Thank you!
Lovely great man work with the pot drilling .
Excellent set up some of the media isn't easily available for us in USA but love your technique 🍃🍃🤗🍃🍃
such a cute video! made my boring day so much brighter...
Informative video.
I like Chris’s Moomin sweater !!
All ur vids just b goals
Very useful...liked it 👌
