  • It's been a long time since I've been on a supersport!
    Come along as I ride the 2024 Suzuki GSX-R 750 for the first time. If you're looking to get one, I share some advice and thoughts on the price and features. (I do say 2023 in the video- but it is a 2024)

    Just bought a 2024 Black/Blue stripe 750. I am 54 years old and this is my 5th GSX-R750. It is the most perfect machine I have ridden in 35 years.

      I bought my 1988 GSXR 750 new back then they were the king of the road and only been out for a few years, so much fun but now at 59 I ride a kawasaki Z400 ,more about the comfort, but tempting getting another one and putting some risers on the clip on, and get some fun from the gixer again

      @Goldy19611 I really like the z series. The 400 is a strong bike but I felt like I wanted a bit more "umph" from it. The 650 seems like a great middle ground between comfort, usable power, and pep expected from a naked sport bike.

    I have a 2022 GSXR 750 with a full M4 exhaust and the ECU was sent to Moore Mafia for a flash.
    The longest amount of ride time I have with only stops for gas is 3 hours and 45 minutes, and I was super comfortable the whole time.
    I am 54 and have tons of injuries from the martial arts, which I have done since I was 12. Broken bones, surgery, ruptured disc…
    I am only 5’ 9 1/2” and 180 lbs in good shape, so holding my core in the proper riding position is no problem for me.
    My bike is a daily commuter as my car was rear ended…
    Work is only 15 minutes away, but I even have to ride in the rain tomorrow until my car gets fixed one day hopefully soon.
    Lower Power B mode and I gotta be as smooth as possible, cover the bike when I get there, and ride home in the rain.
    It’s not necessarily the most enjoyable ride when it’s raining, but the bike can do everything.
    I love it. Get One. I have no problem keeping up with slightly older 1000’s, and if I take off hard they are not catching me unless I let them.
    The bike is so fun, lighter than a stock 600 with the full exhaust/no cat.
    It’s like you are riding a cloud it is so light and smooth.
    Plus I get a little better than 40 miles per gallon, but I am a pretty slow and conservative rider over all. Proudly the slowest guy in the group normally. I am trying to stay alive and keep my license, ya know?

      I’m 52 years old and ride a 2022 CBR1000RR and I also have injuries. i an 5’9” and weigh also 182 lbs. I feel like I can be on this bike all day long. We need to stop talking crap about how “Unnecessary” these bikes are and star talking about how much better milage we get in them versus cars and definitely vs SUVs!

      How about the fact that I can’t wait to go to work cuz I get to ride my Gixxer?
      How about every second I am on the road the only person having as much fun as me is riding a bike, too?

    Why does everyone always say "the manufacturers are stagnant, I wish they would change it up". Then when they do everyone complains on how different and weird it is. Why change the gsxr when its perfect how it is??? You want a quick shifter? Then buy one that is tunable and out performs stock ones. Plus that's how they keep the cost down. Can't stand bloggers like this. Complaining about how Suzuki or whoever should do this or do that. Then if/when they do. Then they complain about the changes! How about stick to what you know or what's awesome about the gsxr. Instead of telling the biggest motorcycle manufacturer in the world what they should do.

      It’s funny you say this I had a 2012 R1 and I loved that bike. When the new generation came out I was impressed. I didn’t really like how it looked. Well, over the years, the style grew on me and I now own a 2023 R1 and I think it’s beautiful.
      I do think the guy makes a good point that it should at least have a quick shifter.

      Truthfully, I love that Suzuki is pushing boundaries with their other models and I should cut them some slack that the 750 is one that hasn't been touched in years. My point is that the pricing has increased with the others on the market but it hasn't increased the features.

      Perhaps a middle ground and have a higher trim like a gsxr750r that gets more of that tech and other goodies

      Because its not perfect. Its dated and doesn't have any modern advancements. The people who shy away from electronics likely never tried them or don't understand them. Not having ABS on the road in this day and age is just silly. There is no reason not to have it, and plenty of reasons TO have it.
      And even much cheaper entry level bikes have ride modes and quickshifters now... Again, no reason not to...

      @@CorBor69 Will never happen. They would have to add Ride by wire, new throttlebodies, ABS module, new ECU, new wheel speed sensors, no emissions stuff, which means more engine development needed so that you don't lose power when you add all the emissions crap...
      They aren't gonna invest a dime in a market that they are looking to get out of. Suzuki has pulled out of most racing groups and their new leadership has said that such things are not a priority, that they want to be more than just a motorcycle company...
      So they are just milking this platform till they are forced to stop selling it...

    The GSXR 600/750 will never be updated.
    It's already been discontinued in most of the rest of the world.
    To make a new bike for the global market, it would have to have ABS, Euro 5 or 6 emissions (this one is Euro 3) electronics etc. and it would end up being too heavy and as expensive as a 1000.
    Personally I think it's cool you can still by a brand new bike from the golden era of sport bikes. That's a rare thing.

    They still race the GSXR750 in Moto America with the Ducati 900 twins, the 636, the Daytona 675, and the other 600's. In the 80's all the Japanese manufacturers had 750 sportbikes and they had their own racing class. I'm 60 and started riding at 18 when I was in the Marines. I still remember where I was when I saw my first 1985 GSXR750. It looked like a racebike! I had a friend that bought an 87 GSXR1100. That thing was amazing! I found a used 86 1100 that I could afford in 1993. In 1996 another friend bought the new GSXR750 SRAD. He let me ride it and the seating position and power felt very similar to my 1100. I later rode someone else's 98 750 and got to take it onto the Interstate. The top end was crazy fun! To be honest, I can take or leave all of the electronics, including the quick shifter. I have a 21 GSXR1000R and I keep my electronics off and ride A-mode rain or shine. I do use the quick shifter sometimes, but if racing I use the clutch. After all the years it just comes natural to me. I think the 750 is the perfect balance between light weight and power, and it is crazy fun to ride!

      The history of a 750 runs deep and there were many greats in that history.
      My understanding of the MotoAmerica class structure is that an inline 4 750 must race in a class of up to 1000cc. The Supersport class is capped at 636cc for inline 4 engines. 3 and 2 cylinde4 engines fall in to a different cc limit.
      So, you're not wrong that you can race a GSXR750, but it would be against bikes like the R1 and GSXR1000.

      From what I see it says over 750cc. The GSXR750 is 749cc. Maybe that is why they run with the 600's and other bikes I mentioned. I looked at that chart you sent , but I actually watch the races and see the R6, Ducati Panigale V2, GSXR750, Daytona 675, and the ZX6R all racing together in the supersport category. Do me a favor, watch the MotoAmerica Supersport Extended Race at Laguna Seca on CZcams. You will see what I'm talking about. You're welcome for my service, nice of you to mention that.

    Nice review. I had a 2018 gsxr750 I picked up in Huntsville that I ended up selling. It was one of my favorites but I didn’t have a high sense of ownership with it for whatever reason. The bike still left a great impression on me and now I have a 2024 25th anniversary Busa that I enjoy.

      @@alexdombi-weridetwo true but it can be a big lazy pussy cat when you want it to be. Not nearly as high strung as a litre or a 600 would be. If you’re able to, definitely take a test ride and review.

    I am on my third 750. A 2006, 2013 and a 2021. I don't do a lot of street riding anymore and use it primarily as a track bike (weapon!). I absolutely love it. Plenty fast enough, light and nimble feeling and I love the intake roar from the screaming high reving engine. As sport bikes go I think it is reasonably comfortable for street riding. If you think this is not comfortable, I have a couple of Ducatis that will show you what uncomfortable is! I have been doing track days for many years and at 73 years young, I hope to continue. Having owned many bikes over the years, the GSX-R 750 is my favorite. I changed the front brake lines and pads, set the suspension and hit the track! Personally, I don't care that it doesn't have lots of fancy new electronics. I am not a pro and think it is fine just the way it is. I love this machine!

      I hope to still be riding at 73, like you are! That is awesome. You are absolutely right that these are track weapons- definitely a strong choice for a track bike. I don't mind when bikes don't have fancy tech, but at the price point I would like to see some updates done over the previous years. I love riding my KLX250SF super moto that doesn't even have a fuel gauge, but I paid less than $2k for it :)

    Bought a 2024 model in January. I love it. I don't need any rider aids or quick shifter etc. I changed to an M4 slip-on and will add some steel brake lines soon. Switched to GP shift which I do prefer. It's my first sport bike and it is very comfortable and the seat height is great since I am 5'4" and can just about get both tiptoes on the ground. I plan to track it this year.

I watched some videos and some forums discussing the advantages of changing to a GP shift setup and I thought if I was going to take the bike to the track, it would be worth switching and seeing how it was. One other adjustment I made which made a big difference in my rev matching and low speed drills was reducing the slack in the throttle. The bike came with way more slack than needed for my preference. I turned 49 this year and decided it was time to try a sport bike while I still had the flexibility and stamina to ride in a more aggressive position.

    I bought my 2024 gsxr 750 in December 23. I only use it to ride canyon twisties and track days. I will be taking it to track soon and have done the cat delete/ECU flash. I special ordered this because availability was scarce in my area and it was the best money I ever spent. Its definitely my prized possession

    I'm 57, ridden bikes all my life. 6'2/198. I sat on one of these today but didn't ride it. It felt comfy enough to me. Add some risers and maybe a better seat and this should be good for 3-4 hours round trips. My current bike is a VFR 800 but it just isnt fast enough. I've owned a hayabusa in the past but was way too hard on my wrists. Thoughts?

      You might be on to something with the risers. Look in to adjustable rear sets and a double bubble style windscreen. That would make it even better at distance cruising.

    My thoughts: New Rider looking in the 600-1000cc range for a new/used bike.
    Mature rider, weekend use, maybe some track after the warranty period.

      A new rider could definitely be questionable with this much power on tap- obviously depending on the person. Mature rider for weekend and track use I see 100%

    It is worth the extra money to get the 750. If you had bothered to explore the top end of the tach, like I have with my '23, you would know that. I'm 64 years old and have no problem riding it for 4 to 6 hours at a time. I mostly ride highways in Ontario Canada, mostly two-lane black top, with some multilane freeways thrown in. I understand that red line in 1st is 81 mph so you might not show yourself exploring the powerband in your CZcams video.

    I think were gonna see the new TFT and ride systems on a next gen soon. They've done most of the line up recently after pulling out of MotoGP for development. Saving the best for last while they let everyone else play their cards. If the GSX8-R is any indication of the tech to come, it will be stellar. Factory quickshifter and all.
    I've seen 185 on my speedo (probably 170s mph wise real speed) but one WAS lazer tagged at 183mph on circuit stock on a long straight. At 419lbs wet with 150hp and a bomb proof motor, it really is a gem. I ride it any day its over 40f, I'm 6'3 and 195. Mine also has the "clunk" over bumps but I've correctly set sag and all, doesn't bother me anymore! Of all the sportbikes I've owned, its far better than even the new 636 and CBR in my opinion. Truly a genius machine and out of the modern bikes it's still most comfortable.

      I hope you're right. Talking with one of the tech managers from Suzuki at Daytona, he hinted at how most manufactures are moving away from inline 4 engines. This makes me think they will be hesitant to revamp any of their 4s that are not based in a race organization. The 8-R is now a race chassis/powerplant.
      It's strange that yours has that clunk too. Before giving the bike back to my buddy I tried to locate the source but couldn't find any cause for it.

    March 2024 purchased a 2024 Suzuki GSX-8R. Im 56 years old. 6’2 277 lbs. always wanted a sportbike. I cant fit on most bikes. 8R is my first motorcycle. For a bigger guy it’s comfortable.

    I started on 500 ss, then 600ss and at that time (teenager) always surprised more manufacturers didn't adopt 750s as they seemed like just the right balance of power and being nimble kinda like the dirt 350s 4 strokes... Cool bike but I need a bit more tech if i'm shelling out big bucks

      ​@@alexdombi-weridetwo Personally I'd like to see switchable on/off ABS added and an actual fuel gauge but that's about it. A quick shifter could be cool to keep up with the ZX6-R tech but IMO really not needed. Honestly I'm afraid if they update the 600 and 750 with fancy tech stuff they're gonna ruin it with a TFT dash like they did on the 1000 in '17 I think it was or what Kawasaki did on the ZX6-R for '24. Have you seen that horrendous looking thing?! Kinda the same issues here, a little older with some knee and back issues but I'm maybe lucky in that I'm on a Ninja 400 and it's so comfortable to ride. I did change out the stock seat but I can put hours in and it's super comfortable. I'm currently looking at the 750 for my next bike because as far as I know it's the biggest "little" bike out there and I hear it's amazingly comfortable to ride. I think sport bike body position just agrees with all my aches and pains, LOL!

      @Ryan_H22 Keep in mind the seating position for a Ninja 400 is much less aggressive than the GSXR750. Your bike has a more upright set up with bar risers rather than clip ons and the distance from seat to footpeg is longer. I was OK to race on my Ninja 250 but racing on my ZX6R hurt.
      There are subtle differences in ergonomics between the supersports and some are more comfortable for certain body shapes. I'd encourage you to go to a bike night and ask riders to sit on their bikes- see what fits your body best. Good luck and ride safe!

    I’ve commuted on an R1 for years. Mostly freeway. And I have to disagree with you that sport bikes are inherently uncomfortable. Sure, you use more muscles that you would on another style of bike, but once you build up your strength in those areas, get your core and shoulders strong, the bikes really are perfectly comfortable.
    I’m not in the best shape, maybe 15 pounds over weight, and I’m pushing 40, but I could be on my bike all day. I’ve taken plenty of 5+ hour rides and felt perfectly fine afterwards.
    I would argue that sport bikes are great commuters, especially at freeway speeds. The fairings help push the wind around you. You’re leaning forward but the wind pushes against your upper body so there’s barely any weight on your hands.
    I commuted on a naked bike for a while and honestly it was awful.

      To some, sportbikes can be comfortable, sure. I rode sportbikes for many years and thought it was fine but definitely couldn't hang for a 5 hour ride on one. I'm glad you don't have the issues I have as I am pushing 40, too.

      That's a good point about wind keeping weight off your hands at freeway speeds. The wrist is what takes the punishment at slower speeds if you're riding wrong. See it frequently with guys resting all their upper body weight on the grips instead of griping the tank with their legs.

    I went to sit on a new 2024 ZX10R yesterday - when did the manufacturers start putting TV screens on their bikes? I don’t want to watch TV when I’m riding.

    There's $1000 difference between the 600 and 750. I just bought a new 750 because I didn't want to buy a clapped out and overreved used one. I'm 190lbs and 6'0" and find it comfortable.

    My heart is set on a Yamaha R9....yeah I know there is no such bike for sale....YET! Will be everything the Gixxer SHOULD be by now just maybe a tad slower....but mor torque! (Inline triple vs inline four and 750cc vs 900cc)

    im a big guy and ive ridden a few 600s and sat on some new ones they just dont feel comfortable to me they make me feel cramped for some reason the 750 i feel like it just fits im picking a 24 up this week for 12K

    Just asking here. Why have all the bikes not gone to a full digital display?

      There are a few reasons that I can speculate contribute to this- but I have no actual knowledge of. Sometimes there are contractual obligations to suppliers that would prevent any changes from taking place. Sometimes it's purely just a cost thing where the manufacture doesn't want to redesign or produce anything for a given model. Sometimes it's a styling thing- for example the 2024 Kawasaki Eliminator uses the same gauge cluster as my 2015 Versys 650 even though the 2024 Versys updated the display. When I asked the Suzuki rep I met in February he hinted to the reason being focus is on other models at the moment. With 2024 being the 40th anniversary for the GSX-R750 I would have expected this year to be a restyle

    Do a review on a 1990 / 96 Honda Goldwing GL1500 i have one fun bike I've had sports bikes 1982 Suzuki gs650 1982 Suzuki gs750 1990 Suzuki gsx600f currently have a 90 Honda GL1500 and love it

      I've heard awesome things about the older goldwings- new ones, too, for that matter. Most of my review videos are of new models because I can ride them at demo events by the manufacturers.

    Man, I want one, for just get out on the road. I'm about 5'6" 145lbs, and 55 years old. haven't been on bike in about 30 years, about 2 years total year round driving only vehicle on 250 rebel, and back then had the balls to run it out and scrape the pegs. I want a 750 for the lower rpm torque but will probably not get into felony speeds. Same as my truck, 2019 Ram beautiful, bought new, love it and under use it (22k mi never towed anything, rarely have a passenger in the crew cab). I like nice things, always wanted a katana or sport bike, even back from the early 90s but never got back on one, now I have means and a little more life experience to keep me from killing myself (hopefully)

      Sounds like you really want to feel the exhilaration of a sportbike! I'd highly recommend taking the MSF class for experienced riders just to make sure your skills all come back to you. I just sold my 2015 Ram that took me all over the country riding so I could get a van and hopefully keep the bikes safe and dry when I travel. I miss the truck sometimes.

      Unfortunately all I know is the MSRP which is $13k USD plus fees. Dealerships by me in Houston have not been advertising any discounts for them either.

      Interesting proposition. I agree that riders need sufficient training before being able to ride street motorcycles, but a racing course may be a bit much. Why do you feel this way?

      B) I have seen too many novices being a danger to themselves and others. It just brings a bad name to the community. Training helps avoid accidents due to rider error.

      Inline 4 vs parallel twin makes a big difference in power and thus money for many people. I totally agree with you!

    Yes I need a 750 GSXR for the street! We keep talking like this these bikes will not be available anymore. We need to talk about how despite it being a sport bike it genes much better milage than most any other vehicle. My 2022 CBR1000RR can do 42 mpg + doing 80mph! What other vehicle does that? Certainly SUVs don’t. So why not talk about phasing those vehicles out for single rider commuters???!

      Great point! The fuel mileage on these bikes is fantastic. I was talking with a few manufacturer reps this week at Bike Week and there is a feeling of moving away from inline 4 engines.

    Its a shame they let this bike die on the vine... Its 2024, but the bike is a 2012 model and even the 2012 refresh was largely cosmetic.
    In this day and age, to not have ABS, or ride modes, or traction and QS with autoblip...
    Its great for what it is, and was, but in today's world its a dinosaur... No excuse to not have modern electronics, and the bike will probably go away entirely in the next couple years... What it has, it does very well, but I won't buy a new bike without modern electronics on them. My first 20 bikes didn't have those systems, but the 15 bikes I have had since, all did, and I wouldn't go back, not when there are so many great, modern bikes to choose from...

Also around 13k, but has a TFT dash, QS w/autoblip, Brembo Stylema calipers with an RCS19 master, steel braded lines, Showa BPF and an Ohlins shock, ABS, traction control, IMU, auto cancelling turn signals, Pirelli Super Corsa SP3 tires, LED lighting, and a 2 year warranty... And its based off the Moto2 racing engine that Triumph has been supplying to every race team for several years now, so its proven...
      All that, for roughly the same price as a 15 year old GSX-R?
      Yeah, the Suzuki has a full fairing, but the Triumph has all that modern tech and better brakes and suspension and makes close to the same power.... I have had both bikes on track, and I would take the Triumph any day of the week.
      Now, if Suzuki were to modernize the 750 like they did with the 1000, then I submit that it would be the best bike on the market and all the bike anyone would ever need...

    My comments are not about the tester here. People are bias and plenty of them haven't riden one. People accessorize and swap component's who are serious about it on all bikes. Somebody was joking about Suzuki motogp like it was dogsjit. The dude is a fool. The season they quit they won 3 races also in 2020 won motopgp championship. with Muir or Mir. It's ridiculous i called him out he got hyped 😅. Gsx8r has already won a race this year and the gsxr750 has had multiple podiums. Magazines and reviewers were say ing year after year for years it would begone. By the way gsx8r was to replace the sv650 because it was not competitive any more in the twin cups after many championship. They bitch about not updating sv650 hello they built another bike to replace it. Gsxr750/1000 for 20 years owned the race track in the ama now ma. Mladin 7 or 8 then Spies for 2. So many people butt hurt for years. Don't let Suzuki be your bitch.
