- In this episode of Watches in the Wild, we take to the skies above Thailand and uncover one of the most significant collections of pilot's watches on the planet.
The collection belongs to an Australian expat named Andy Tolley. Andy's the kind of collector who's happy enjoying his watches in solitude. Truth be told, it took some convincing to get him on camera with me. He doesn't like social media and doesn't want to be known for having watches, but rather for researching watches and spreading the enthusiasm.

Back to back weeks??? Wow what a fantastic way to kick off the weekend. This series is like talking watches on steroids for Netflix. Andy has such a wealth of knowledge and it’s so cool to see a collection dedicated to such a small niche of watches.
FANTASTIC collection of aviation of watches. My only complaint it was too short, I wanted to hear more from the extremely knowledgeable collector and the stories behind the watches.

I am not so much into vintage pilot‘s watches. But I have to say that the leather straps of all the watches shown in this video are simply exquisite.

I'm liking these new series! I also have fond memories when I visited Thailand for work a few years ago. Great place! It's odd that here for Aviation watches the Glycine Airman is not mentioned as the first GMT watch. I believe it was created in 1953 before the Rolex GMT.

Very cool. I chose a Longines Master Collection Moon Phase last year for my first luxury watch purchase. And I can see that I now need to go back and watch Ep.1, because I also own a Seiko Prospex diver. 🙂

IMHO the Omega 2292 HS8 is one of the most beautiful pilots watches!
I also think that the Omega Flightmaster is a true hidden gem (but prefer personally the (also space approved) Speedmaster 125th because of the unique cal. 1041)!

Superb collection and every aviation themed collection should contain a few 1960s pieces e.g. Accutron Astronaut, Bulova 3818, Glycine Airman automatic and GMT-master 1675 ...
March 1966 NASA astronaut Neil Armstrong wore James Mattern's Longines Wittnauer-Weems big crown pilot watch as the aviator was Armstrong's childhood hero ! 🧐

As an USAF navigator I used many Weems navigation tools. Most made by Weems and Plath. Now I know why.
That was really great, I think you could set up a camera and just let that guy talk. He was as interesting as his watches.

Kinda disappointing talking about the complications but not showing how it works...
Aviation watches are like the most technical watches around and I was looking forward to some explanation of how it works.
Instead all was shown is, "this is the model"

Flightmasters have a sorta retrofuture style and elegance looks like they fit well with some power armor.
