  • The Ilyushin IL2 Shturmovik was a ground attack aircraft from Russia used between 1941 and 1954, and was built in large numbers, with over 36,000 being produced during the war. It was known by many as a flying tank but at its introduction and between 1940 and 1940 it was prone to be shot down by fighter aircraft, because they had changed the two seat prototype into a one seat aircraft due to an engine that could not handle the weight. The fall of 1942 saw the two seat version reintroduced, first as a field modification, then as a new aircraft version, with a more powerful engine and a more powerful 23 mm cannon.
This model Kit is from Tamiya, and I am not disappointed. There are some lines that will have to be smoothed out on the wings, but that is not so bad, and will not take long to fix. I think with AfterMarket exhaust it will turn onto a fine scale model.
