Wow what an incredible series, pretty sad it has come to a conclusion, so many avenues opened up along the way. Hope you one day explore some of the topics that came up during this research in a separate series. Loved the dive into the concept of metamodernism as it emerges from postmodernism. One of my favourite contemporary artists that I think embodies this sensibility is Friedrich Kunath, appropriating historical artists like Frederic Church and injecting sincere yet poetic words onto the canvas like "if you leave me, can I come too?" "All my favourite painters couldn't paint" "fuck it, I love you" etc. Well worth a look if you haven't come across him before 👍

Ahhhh man I jump to the film part of courrrse and wanna chime in! 😅🎥🙌 A great way of explaining it is even after loving The Witch and The Lighthouse, seeeing The Northman in theaters, the lenses and shots Eggars is using I knew maaade the audience realize even subconsciously they were not seeing an average 90 mil budget movie, but rather an indie filmmaker given his shot.. (the movie for me was good, not my fav of his, just an example) buuut.. lol Yeah I haven’t seen a whole lot of new martial Arts films but two I can’t speak highly enough about as far as little cut fight scenes (the best in film I’ve ever seen) are The Raid films. The Raid and The Raid 2… 2nd one is one of my all time fav action films!
