1985 Mustang's still had a carb. 1986 was the first year for EFI. It looks like the only CFI cars had auto transmissions, that's probably why I have never seen one.

That’s definitely not a bad problem too have. Sam has really made ruby a beautiful car and then add on the fabrication work pretty nice car. Gotta say ruby is finally fitting into her name.

It's good to see James going into neutral in the shutdown instead of letting it wind down like before it's going to take lot's of stress off that engine doing that and allow it to live longer

Yup, you have a hard transfer from the engine pushing the wheels to the wheels pushing the engine.
Yeh never understood the engine braking for drag cars, I guess if u got shitty brakes and no chute.
On a stock motor with belt driven water pump is it not better to leave it in gear to keep water flow up?
Ruby has come so far since James's first freehand NOS bottle shot on the dyno, but then again, so has has the technical wherewithal of both James and Garrett. Keep it up.

How many iron blocks did she eat on the original McFarland-Fab turbo kit before they got serious with her. Great content throughout her life with them.

I've been slowly working through the Ruby playlist. That 4.Great was living every single RPM on the edge.
Parker has been killing it with his interviews with Mr. Sam. Enjoyed getting to know him more.

This was a cheap auction vette with a truck motor swap, and now it effortlessly does 8.0 passes on 50% of it's potential. Gotta love Ruby.

I e said it before and I’ll say it again, I’ve worked in/around body/repair shops for over 11 years and have never seen anyone fabricate like Tye does. You guys made such a good decision to bring him into the team. Ruby looking sexy.
I find this tuning exercise to be one of the most interesting things you guys have done on any of your vehicles and it just shows how much or how little you can modify the speed of the car at all points on the track, at the start, the 1/60. the 1/8 and in the final leg as you are shooting for the quarter mile. The one thing that this exercise will help you with is when you set Ruby to run 7.5 seconds or faster than that. You guys are building your tuning expertise to control the car's speed in micro-seconds. It's going to be an exciting year to see how Ruby and your other cars perform. Good luck.

Thats what bracket racing is.. plus you gotta be able to do with different variables at different tracks... if your car is an 8.5 car at one track, it might be a 8.7 at another track.. an just like that your out

Bracket racing is just gambling to see who can calibrate their car closest to the fastest time allowed. Having a faster car gives you little to no advantage.
You may have a point about the spirit, but surely that horse has bolted many decades ago, if it ever was there in the first place?
The other thing is, by the sounds of what Cleetus said, the only bracket above 8.5 is going to be the bracket that Sick Seconds 2.0 is gonna be running in, realistically, Ruby has no chance against that, I'm sure if there was a 7.5 class they would've put her in that.
I was literally watching Ruby’s first video on the channel when I got the notification for this video. So crazy so see how far she’s came, honestly can’t wait to see how the Blazer ends up
Document everything about the weather (temp, barometric, sunny/partly cloudy, wind), track prep, and Ruby’s tune/suspension/tire pressure/suspension travel. This will give you a true “Kevin baseline” to work with when race day rolls around. Ruby/James should be able to 8.5 bracket race all day long. 😎

Instead of 3 8.50 categories, they should have done a 7.5 category.
Remember two videos ago when they got an engine like mullets to hold the power for Ruby, and gave it to Leroy lol Ruby's engine isn't capable of doing what the turbo can put down it will be the next built engine they get.
Quoting old Gurney Halleck, "Gods, what a monster!!" That new turbo setup means serious business, if Ruby would hook running full boost I have no doubt she's faster than Mullet.

Good shutdown to neutral at the end of each pass James. I'm sure you all know but for those who don't, that puts less stress on the motor rather than letting the engine slow down the car.

Probably been said before but when trying to hit a target you can't see try the "bracket" method. If you're running an 8.0 and want to run an 8.5 aim for anything higher (say 8.7, 8.8) then dial it back to 8.5. you'll generally find the mid ground way faster than chasing your number from one end. Thanks for the content, psyched for another race week.
Also known in mathematics as interpolation. Start on one side of your goal, overshoot, and then you can easily calculate exactly how far you need to dial it back to hit your goal.
