  • Pastor David Guzik takes a look at 2 Corinthians 4 and the life of Paul, who is a great example to us. We learn how we can have joy in affliction and keep our eyes on the things not seen.

Thank you pastor David for this teaching on 2 Corinthians 4. So true. I agree that our afflictions are light compared to His blessings for us. Spiritual things are more valuable than material things in this world. God surely does not despise the material things in this world. Yes, we must get our eyes only on things unseen which is spritual. Amen.

Thank you for that wonderful - and timely - teaching, David! My wife and I are in the midst of building a home, and it's amazing how powerfully that influences us (or me, at least) to focus on what seems important, but is not, and forget this essential and fundamental reality. God bless you and your ministry!

As is from the process of purification, so it may be manifested in our own lives the process of a heartfelt purification in order to reflect his love in a manner unseen.

David, what if I went through suffering for years with emotional pain, when I was an immature Christian and resisted the Lord, fought and despaired...became bitter as you say...even let go of His hand for a time? Seeing it all more clearly now, I completely agree and know that I need to welcome and as you say treasure the times he uses suffering to rebuild me inside...Is all of that wasted now because I didn’t properly respond before? Is it too late for me to submit it to Him and ask Him to do what I wouldn’t accept before? I am in my late sixties and want so much to comply with the Lord and serve Him to the end. I have repented of my response, asked forgiveness and I know He forgives. But I don’t want His discipline to be wasted, as to warned. Thank you, I hope you get this somehow.

David, I had just opened my computer to continue with Isaiah and Enduring Word. I am stunned and overwhelmed that you would take the time to answer my questions. I know deeply that theology matters. I feel that you and my pastor would be good friends with a lot to say if you ever sat down for coffee. Like you, he is a happy, kind person who really loves his people. I will be listening and learning at noon!
