"I'm a real pegger, runs in the family" Very funny. Howdy Boyz.
If anyone is wandering, the invasive tree Micky was cutting is the northern red oak (Quercus rubra) which is native to Northern America and has no place in Europe. It’s actually quite aggressive and it’s endangering our native species. Thank you guys for another great video and have a nice day, kind regards from Czech Republic.
I fully support this. Wish I could get more of the local yanks to start removing white pear trees over in the states.
And Alainthus or Tree of Heaven here in VA. Kill it all!!!
Eastern redcedar (juniperus virginiana) is the worst
You learn something every day on this channel
Red oak is not native but a planted forestry tree. It’s not a evasive pest
I've noticed it for a long time -- and always appreciated it fully; but I've never mentioned it. I REALLY LIKE IT that you guys are so consistent about providing subtitles in EVERY instance when you speak Dutch to each other. Most people wouldn't care, and it would be just fine (we all like you and trust you, etc.), but it's just so great to know that you don't want to EXCLUDE your viewers from anything said. It speaks to your character, honesty, and respect for those of us who love your videos.
Dutch is not a language, it is like Danish, a throat obstruction! A common joke in Europe. Even the Danes has problems with some Danish dialects.
The handle on the Condor is better looking than both hosts.
that was the easy win
Watching you both peg on the internet always makes my day...
The thing with the Garberg is that it always sneaks back into my rotation of bushcraft knives.
When it came out, I loved it, then it was challenged by the Terrasaur, the Jääkkaripukko and ghe Hultafors OK4 and the Real Steel Bushcraft. And while it is not my favourite anymore I still keep packing it, esprcially on wet days, since it is in 14C28N.
And the blade shape always reminds me on Native American knives in old movies.
I like the old Bushcraft Black more, than the Garberg or any other from that price point.
I must say, the test was nice (:
I would love to see a video about the best knive for tropical environments! (Saltwater, coconuts, sand, diving). I remember survival Lilly’s hate on the S1. She was in this zone.
Other knives will come and go but the Garberg will always stay.
Now i feel better about having a Condor Machete, thansk boys.
Condor is usually a good choice for machetes sometimes they need a bit of TLC before use but I've had no issues with mine besides being dull
I've always wanted to get one of these more ancient than traditional-looking Condor knives. Thanks DBK, I'm sold 🗡️🗡️🗡️🗡️🗡️
Condor has some good stuff and the El Salvador maker is definitely full of potential.
Hahahaa I love that when he starts talking about what steel it is you go “why are you talking…?” 😂
Love that the Condor was good, Joe Flowers is one of my favorite designers out there right now
I'll go for the Mora Stailess. 😁👍🏼😁👍🏼
that profile pic should be outlawed... like damn...
Love my Mora's. I know there are better knives out there. But I always carry my Garberg or Clipper on my adventures.
Could you review the Demko freereign? I think the Magnacut version could be a really great survival option.
Very proud you gents for following your passions. May your friendship last longer than any supersteel! It takes a lot of love and work to keep the channel and content going. We don’t see the behind the scenes work. Stay safe and blessed.
I bet the Buck 110 would have gone through that like butter,,, Oh wait the Buck 110 would have turned into butter, hahaha! Great video gents!
Love it! Every Thursday
I really like Condor knives and have had great luck with their blades. I have heard people complain about the fit and finish, but i haven't had any issues.
Just bought one of the Condor's Indigenous Puukkos. It is a lot more beautiful than how it looks on the pictures/videos. I loved it so much that I gave it as a present to my partner and ordered another for for myself... Such a beauty and as sharp as a razor...
You can speed up the process of making tent/hammock pegs by working smarter and not harder (like with most things in life). Take a stick the length of two pegs and work from the outsides in. The middle is where you create the point so don't put your knife in a 90 degree angle against the grain but use maybe a 30 degree angle going more with the grain. This puts less stress on the knife and already creates half of the point saving carving time as well.
Funny part is you already use that angle cutting off the tree branches but it does not translate into making a point on a stick.
It's been five years now and mickey's jawles have taken a turn.
Not a surprise! Condor ist getting better and better! And you can buy it for a low price! Great! Thanks for showing! Best regards from Oldenburg/Germany! Jörg
Owned that condor for a few years now. Love it! It's part of my carving kit.
Love these kind of videos where knives with different characteristics (price, steel, etc.) are compared and analyzed.
Also expected this budget knife even though DBK always aims to thrive in super steels and what not.
Hope to see more like this in future.
Great review gentleman, thank you for sharing this video. Stay safe out there. 😊
had my condor puukko for 2 years and never let my down. from camping with the kids to bushcraft with my mates, it has become a good friend.
You guys should try out a Winkler knife. He makes the best sheaths in the world. That's not an exaggeration either, they are perfect and all hand made. He uses great steel (80CRV2) and has a wide selection to choose from. I recommend the woodsman for the type of stuff you guys do. His own destruction tests are crazy as well so I'm sure he'd be interested to see your results. His stuff is also readily available, unlike a lot of smaller makers
01:09 PDT is acceptable, however late. Always fun watching you, guys.
hahaha thanks
I still think the Garberg is the best deal here.
-Best sheath (with options if you get the MOLLE compatible).
-Stainless rust resistance without much performance loss.
-Sharp spine.
-Comfortable and secure grip.
-Affordable price.
IMHO Garberg is just hard to beat.
This was a much better video than the older format you guys used.
Best visuals on youtube.
Wholly entertaining channel.
it may not be a total beast like the Garberg but, I honestly think Pukko Style Knives are the best looking knives. this is an amazing value item. great vid guys
Another Great Knife Challenge, Thanks Fellas 😎
I think it would have been more fair to use a carbon steel Garberg vs. the carbon steel puukko.
I’m a pegger too! A Winnipeger! (someone who’s from Winnipeg, Canada)
I'm from Toon Town, so I get it. 🤙🤙
I’ve bought two Condor knives and the quality control has been terrible. The Undertaker came to me with a huge curled tip. It was bent like a fish hook. The Selknam had an uneven grind and can’t hold an edge. I’ll stick with my Fallknivens. I loved this video
oh damn thats not good indeed :(
Thanks a lot for sharing and the kind words!
Are those both rather large knives? My smaller Mini Hudson Bay had no issues atleast, but maybe the quality is better kept with the size.
@@thymii6946 the selknam isn’t very big at all. The mini Hudson Bay might be the same size or even bigger. Condor makes fun stuff they just don’t have consistent quality control
@@splinterdevilblood6366 Huh, I see I must have gotten lucky. But after 80 bucks luck should not be a factor anymore, so it's pretty unforgivable for Condor.
You guys should do a video on the Tops C.U.T 4.0 I just bought one and I think it could be a decent survival knife if you needed it to be
I demand at least 3 DBKs per week
I guess this is the answer against the Gerberg since Wako preferred his Gerberg over the DBK knife. Even though Wako pre sharpened his Gerberg knife to his specifications and also widened the grip of the Gerberg to accomodate his hand and said the dbk knife grip was not to his liking and didnt do the same for that knife. And had a lot more field time with the slightly modified Gerberg so it was partial bias on his part not doing a straight out of the factory comparison.
I absolutely love my condor indigenous pukko. Its my favorite woods knife
🏆Timing of this upload was amazing. Thank you guys. Keep up the good work! Made a good twist to my day.
The biggest problem I have with the Garberg is that the price brings it into competition with a lot of better knives from Joker, Cudeman, Kellam, Terava, and Condor.
From what I've seen from Joker, (don't own any) they don't look nearly as good as what Terävä or Condor offer. Unless there are models from Joker I don't know about? Seemed like just bowies with crap stainless and cordura sheaths.
@@thymii6946 Joker have a lot of decent knives in Sandvik14C28N and Bohler N695 steel (Nomad, Lynx, Montanero, Trampero, Ember, Puukko, etc). They also have some knives like the ones you are thinking of in Molybdemum Vanadium that I tend to stay clear of.
@@thymii6946 Joker makes good knives that you actually want to use. They're handmade and have a great quality with their handles, sheaths and all.. steel could be better but it's essentially the same steel the Garberg Stainless uses (14C28N) so it's really fine for all sorts of tasks.
@@conabot Yeah I must have gotten the wrong first impression based on the camo pattern bowies
Great work guys, a good review.
I like it when you have a super steel in the mix too, showing that they're not magical things, predominantly just edge retention beasts but ultimately they perform the same tasks.
Simple carbon steels have lasted 3000 years so far...... there's literally nothing wrong with them for knives, you just sharpen them more often.....but theyre soooo easy to sharpen!
With practice you can sharpen almost. And I say almost anything easy. After so much practice I can sharpen most super steels just as fast with just a falkniven dc4.
@@vagabond4576 Diamond stones are great for any steel indeed. Now let's say you ding the edge of one knife with 12c27 and another with some CPM type steel. Which would you want to fix up in the field if there is a bad chip in them?
"And so does my grandmother". 🤣😂🤣 Genius 😆
the Dutch are just crazy. I love going down there every year and experiencing the madness all over again
That acoustic is a fine sound
If I want a budget knife, it's Condor or BPS for me 👍
I can't believe the amount of great knives you guys give away 😲
I appreciate the comparison. Most Condor knives are Oak for the price. I do love my little Condor Otzi.
Probably out of them all, the Garberg is designed the most safely, for high speed pegging…
I've been using the Condor for about 2 years and it hasn't failed me once. The sheath is nice and retains the knife well and the blade sharpens up very nice. My only issue is the handle. Even though it looks nice it's impossible to clean so I can never use it for any tasks other than wood. Cleaning animals, anything with water and even sometimes food prep are off the table since I don't want to get crud in the brass wires or in the lazer engraving.
Nothing about condor makes me want to buy their knives anymore. Fit and finish are always suspect. They're are starting to charge more for knives and quality that is not guaranteed.
Micky, the expert on how hard is the wood :D
I’d love a Fallkniven modern Bowie or NL 5 I can’t stop
Watching those videos over and over
76 😳😳That's sharp!!!🤙🤙
You did it again lads another interesting video but packed full of subtle humour and off the wall one liners that will easily just fly past most of the ordinary person’s ears, like little front farts from school religious teacher!! Now thats terrifying 😂😂
You two not forgetting your new assistant on the timing, have a cracking weekend and look forward to the next instalment from CZcamss best friends and lunatics on the loose🫵🏻😘👍🏼
Cheers lads
Your editing had me laughing so hard! "SCRAPE!"
I love condor knifes
For some reason i expected the video being about the budget dbk knife
soon i hope haha
Awesome great video
Fantastic as always, but curious if you could give a bit more detail on the sheaths each time? Love your videos!
This looks like a promising traditional looking Allrounder knife. I love the Condor Bushlore, which is affordable and pretty good, also the slightly more expensive Brisa Kephart is excellent, both also not only good for Bushcraft, Survival, Outdoor stuff, but also as a fighting knife.
When I bought a malaria puukko I wanted to giftt my little brother a knife to for our buschcraft/survival trip and he really loved it. If you get a flat stone out a lake you kan easy form a scharp edge on it! It a good brand to begin with. Great video! Mabey try the Busch lore from condor?
Thx for the comparison- guy's, always preciate your opinion.
The joker puukko could also be interesting and visually it's crazy anyway.
Coconut oil is a good natural ingredient for the pegging. Heard of it from a friend
I just got the Condor Trivitatta puukko, it's pretty cool . I think their Darklore and Aqualore look awesome . They are Bushlores with 1095hc and 14C28N instead of their 1075hc steel. $100 even with kydex sheath . ...I think their overall blade design is excellent for Bushcraft.
Would love to see you guys review them . Condor is a cool company I'm sure they would send ya a couple.
50-55 hrc? Yikes
Sissipuukko M07 vs Condor Indigenous? Maybe a better comparison than the Garberg, for similar bucks.
Joker knives has a good puukko that should be put in tests as well. The price is amazing.
Wel gedaan manne. Ek geniet julle program elke liewe week. Ek is baie opgewonde om eendag my eie DBK mes saam met my rond te dra.
Alles wat mooi is.
i want one now
I made a bed for my cat recently and cut up my old mattress to make a polster. I found that using a big rambo knife worked best. I could stab deep into the squishy foam and slice through large bits quickly. I was glad that i still had that knife. Its not great for bushcraft but it really impressed me here. I guess it was designed for stabing squishy stuff.
@@JordanMac79 My sisters name is Jessica.
YP Puronvarsi, try it.
I dont know man, I had Condor Cavelore, beautiful scandi ground knife, nice on pictures, but wasnt a good feathersticker. Didnt like it, and sold it. Condor is cheap, but for a reason.
Wow that's awesome looking forward to your email. And the knives will make great addition to my collection
Can you two review the new Victorinox Venture Pro soon? I would really like to see this. I know you two don't like flat grinds with a secondary V-edge, but it was specifically designed for bushcraft.
Knife suggestion for video is the "monterey bay knives field trekker" a ray laconoco design. Only $200 for 3v,convex blade, micarta handle, leather sheath.i own this knife but would love to see your opinion on it. Love the videos have been watching for years!!
I would love a subscribers top 5 knives again
How can you compare the garbergs edge retention to the other two when only garberg split the logs with batoning and through the knots...
Maybe you could test the Condor Atrox and compare it to the Storm Vector for example
Not sure when you bought it but the knife is currently about 300$ Canadian bucks so about $200US
Same as I found. Also a site that had it for 90 euro... price seems to be all over. 50 bucks Id buy a decent condor knife but not in the hundreds
The garberg is the proverbial "jack " .
I missed a cool fancy intro 😢 Beautiful knife though!
Can you test a winkler knife????? Or an lt.wright??? Thanks❤
Can you review the L.T Wright genesis please. They have 3v versions and A2
Gotta go with a flat grind for pushing through small trees like that, a steep scandi only excels in woodworking. Something slicing like the Opinel would have cut those vines in one go almost. Thickness isn't always desirable, except in men of course.
Every time I see a video such as this one, I remember that I misplaced my Mora (not this model, but still) and I get pissed at myself lol. Oh well, I'll find it eventually.
Please do a knife in 80CRV2
Martiini lynx
Get you a Randall #5 camp knife and review it. Will take you 4-5 years due to back orders but I am sure someone has one or maybe on e-bay. Wont led you mine :). Randall makes tried and true beasts!
The slant on the condor could make it harder to keep "in line" when cutting?
Love me a good pukko
50hrc - 55hrc ? That cuts like 60-65 hrc somehow
I bought the Condor Cavelore and it is awesome, even though it looks great it also looks kinda stupid
Hey DBK Boys, please do a review of the new Victorinox Venture.
Dig y’all’s videos, been looking for a good knife. If the F1 3G Limited, A1X, Fox Eastwood tiger or Spyderco PM15V make it to me I would be greatly appreciative. Wanted a White River Ursus 45 but funds are tight. Make me believe in CZcams again! Lol. Can’t wait for an email!
time to test the new Victorinox Venture Pro ... and see if it really can live up to expectations :)
I'm a fan of Condor. My Rodan is among the best of my collection. They've become more expensive recently but offer the buyers a lot for they're money.
I became a fan of them a long long time ago when they were still a legit budget option (back then I only got budget knives). I have a bunch now and have liked them all. I have 3 Bushlores, the first when they still were 3/16" thick, a Swamp Romper, 2 Low Drags (amazing knife), 2 Hudson Bays, 2 Moonshiners, a Terrasaur, 2 Bushcraft Basics, a Knulujulu, and an HD Kukri
I missed this one, good video, I like the comparison, but l still don't like Condor!!!
