An interesting story about this musical number. My Father was an Imagineer for 30 years at Walt Disney World. At the time this was shot, he worked as a machinist and apprentice hydraulics tech for the audio animatronic figures. He was tasked with working the snake that lunges at Van Dyke. While filming a take of the lunge, the snake popped Van Dyke in the mouth pretty hard. The director began yelling at my Dad. Van Dyke stepped in and said, 'No, no! He was right on cue. I missed my mark! It was my fault.' My Dad appreciated how classy Van Dyke was to defend him like that. During the shoot, my Father says Van Dyke was extremely friendly with everyone, even going so far as to have lunch 'on the floor' with the technicians instead of having the catered lunch for the shoot. He asked tons of questions about what they were working on and was genuinely interested in what they were building. When the shoot was over, Van Dyke signed an autograph for my Dad that included, 'Good luck with your new baby!' as my Mother was pregnant with me at the time. My Father still has the autograph in his office!
I have seen this multiple times,knew Michael Landon fron 1982 to 1991 but never realized before when Dick Van Dyke played around with the Elephant and got soaking wet and then continued his "We Can Do It" theme that the shirt that was wet prior now was incredibly dry. Means doesn't it that they had him change shirts? I kept looking at it and re played it back and then saw the differences in the two shirts. Michael,Dick Van Dyke,Disney,what amazing people!
